I dont care what anyone says...

This song is a cheesy synth driven catchy ass mf'ing tune!

Anyone know what he says at the intro at :16se when the horns kick in? Sounds like he says Jeeves! lol

The chorus just gets stuck in your head! Perfect for radio. wink

Of course When Doves Cry is a much better song,

It doesn't take "a genius" to hear that. lol

I still like the new single FALLINLOVE, it is a great and fun song. No need to compare with the classics.

Just: enjoy. music

Yes really.

I don't have to deal with anything.

If i want to express my view that i think you have terrible taste just in this instance and do it on this public forum, i will do. And indeed, I have done. razz

Most of the time i share a lot of your views, so don't be too upset on this one. wink

The music buying public have spoken. Despite being on a major label, it's only a minor hit.

Because it's perfectly acceptable to judge something that's been on the charts for one fucking week.

Wasn't judging anything. It's on a daily downwards curve on UK itunes chart already so it's perfectly acceptable and reasonable to say it peaked and is/was a minor hit.

No, it's not, given that Epic's promotion plan has barely had a chance to kick in.

Do you know how long it took Gaga's "Just Dance" from release day to hitting #1 in the Billboard?

Seven months.

Obviously Marrk can't say for certain what's going to happen...

but wouldn't you fall on the floor in disbelief if Fallinluv2nite got to number one?

I'd be pleasantly surprised if I ever heard it on my local stations--which hasn't happened with a Prince track since "Gold."

Preach! The current number #1 hit Pharrell's "Happy" been out almost a year before it hit and it had a hit movie behind it.

I don't know about number one, but Top 10 is certainly feasible, which would qualify it as a solid hit. But it will take a lot more promotion for that to happen. For now, it does seem that Epic are putting some weight behind it, but let's wait and see what happens.

Happy was not released as a single until early 2014. While it was released

last summer the only way to purchase it was by buying the Despicable

Me soundtrack. It was not available to buy as a single so it did not spend

months building before it became a hit. Comparing it to Princes single

is idiotic and stupid.

No it was not released as a single this year. It was released last year! It was reissued as a lead single for Pharrell's new album. Get your facts straight before you come @ me!

I can compare Prince's new single however I choose to!!! mad

In the UK according to the official chart website Happy has been in the chart 17 weeks which would mean it came out as a single in december, plus it has been flogged to death on the radio, Prince hasn't. 2 plays in 10 days

STRINGS !!!!

I love that.

I wonder who recorded the string section. It seems that these are real strings, and no synth parts...

They sure don't sound like Clare Fisher left overs to me...

Anyone heard this too ?

The song isn't his best, but it's well crafted and composed, and why not. He deserves a sunny spring/summer hit like this imho. Although people might prefer Funknroll more overhere in Europe I think. wink

WOuld love to hear some more remixes, longer version even.

Heard it on the radio today and you know what it sound perfect for radio.

Hell why not.

That would be Adi Yeshaya of StrinGENIUS who did them! Brought in by Michael B Nelson of the Hornheadz.

first thing I thought of the title was the similarity to "If I love you 2night" off child of the sun/1800FUNK which is 1000% better than this new track...

I walked I to a Huhot stir fry restaurant with a friend yesterday, and they were playing FALLINLOVE2NITE overhead. It said it was XM radio. RESPECT. I was so excited, and I explained it to my friend, who gives me crap about Prince all the time. LOL. I was just glad to hear it somewhere outside looking it up on the web!!!!

I don't think people are saying it's a "hit"....People are saying, at least in the American market, it can do some damage...

The "lol" for me is more about folks being on a "Prince fan site" acting like people who r rooting on Prince are clueless dweebs...

When folks can't even be Prince fans on a Prince site no less, that's worthy of a side-eye...

This is strawman BS, though...There r some "true" fans that think the song is lightweight at best and shit at worst...That's all good and everyone should be allowed to say whatever...

That's not the issue....

The problem here is the sheer brazen negativity that has destroyed this site....Again, this is a Prince site...Of course you are going to have your over the top SUPER FANS declaring everything the man does as genius...No shit...lol

But reading through this thread little of "masterpiece" lauding is happening here.....What is happening is a few smug individuals want to prove they r the smartest asses in the room declaring the death of a single that has barely been commercially released over a week...

If u don't see the absurdity in that, that's on you, homie...

Then it's also absurd from the fans on here to say it's a hit. And there are quite a lot of those fanatics on here. "Someone" even said it will be bigger than Pharell's "Happy".

You can see the negative comments as a reaction to this absurd prediction. The yang to the ying.

Bollocks. There are a certain few posters here, and everybody on this site knows who they are, who will make negative comments and attack Prince no matter what he does or what song he puts out.
