It never ceases to amaze me the arrogance I see on this site - why aren't you all successful managers in the music business? Some of you profess to know how it all works and what would be the best move, so why aren't you there making millions for yourselves? It's delusion on your part.

Furthermore, why does anyone care whether he has a hit or not? Really, what does it matter at all? He's had loads in the past and has nothing to prove in the music scene. Prince doesn't care, hasn't cared for a long time - he took his "little ass out the game" a long time ago. All he seems to want is make the music he wants to make and make enough money to keep him in the lifestyle he is accustomed to and comfortable in. What difference does it make to you personally whether he has a hit or not? It's from an entirely selfish perspective, as you only want him to have a hit to feel better yourself.

And for all those constantly bemoaning his apparent lack of business/marketing skills. Prince is one of the most successful musicians in history - FACT! Now, either his business acumen is better than you think, or he is so talented that even with shoddy business decisions he has still managed to be wildly successful. Either way, your accusations have no credibility.

I've always admired him for his incredible music first and foremost, the attitude he promotes with his music (whether or not that is a true reflection of Prince behind closed doors) and his striving to do things his way and often against the grain throughout a long career in a notoriously difficult industry. Whether his music is popular with anyone else or whether he milked every business opportunity he had are entirely immaterial for me.

And now, I'm going to go and check this song to see if it brings me enjoyment, not fretting about the technicalities of its promotion and potential.

I think the song was actually pretty dope! It was catchy & everything. I found myself humming it today @ work a couple of times. It's the first [in a long time] that I've had a "newer" track in my head [most of the newer stuff goes in one ear & out the other] by Prince. I enjoyed the episode too. It's funny how his "throwaways" (as some of you claim it was lol ) was better than that "real music by real musicians" bullshit he's been going on about.

Just saying..... lol

I like the song a lot. Though for some reason it reminds me of the Whispers' "Rock Steady"...

yeah 2013. We did horns for Groovy Potential in July 2012.

I suppose there is a similar horn sound to it with the double section thing going on,

one pass with open brass, the other with muted brass.

However, there is no flute and clarinet in this one like there is in GP.

-

Your work on this song and the songs you recorded horns for Prince and Andy Allo is greatly appreciated! What I love about "Don't You Wanna Fall In Love", is the punchiness of the horn section.

-

Thanks, the Hornheadz got to work on a lot of fun tracks in the past 2 years.

I do wish this whole song would get released. There's a really catchy instrumental hook on it as well,

and some more interesting horn and string stuff.

That's thing with P, you do a lot of recording, but never know what's actually going to be released.

Loving what you do. Hope you're having a great time playing with Prince. The horns sound really good! So tight smile and funky.

-

Thanks!

just to be clear though, the Hornheadz, (featured on this track) are not the same players that are in his current live band horn section.

We are synomymous with the original NPG Horns that toured and recorded with Prince throughout the 90's (from Diamonds & Pearls to Rainbow Children),

and have again been recording extensively with him over the past few years.

and yes, we always enjoy working with him.

I am hoping against all hope that Prince will release "Don't You Wanna Fall In Love" before Valentines' Day. Maybe it could have the same push as "Most Beautiful Girl In The World".

Okay, about 30 listens later.

This is not a throwaway - it is a gem and it has hit written all over it. C'mon Prince, throw out the full version to the fans and see what sort of response you get. If it's as good as I think it is it will go viral.

Thanks in advance.

Pur-lease, dude was trying to imitate the BEP on a recent album. Dude is desperate for a hit but knows he ain't got the material

Yeah, that's why his history is littered with people suing him for unpaid bills.

Now, either his business acumen is better than you think, or he is so talented that even with shoddy business decisions he has still managed to be wildly successful. Either way, your accusations have no credibility.

But he isn't. He's an oldies act. Zero relevance. Now compare to Springsteen or Neil Young etc.

Wow - the weakest arguments I've ever seen you post. So weak, it's overplaying it for me to call them arguments. He's not desperate for a hit and you know it, but that doesn't fit your tired agenda. And, you know what, ANYONE successful has lines of people looking to sue, trying to get a piece of the pie any which way they can - that's nothing new (and doesn't mean that he didn't promote some of the suing either). And your third point - well, his current stint in London is causing a huge buzz with various media calling him the most important and relevant musician on the planet. Except they didn't get butt-fucked like you, so maybe they're just deluded?! :-p

OK, Bart, let's compare. To Springsteen, whose tepid new album of remainderers from the past five years is being universally panned. To young, whose recent concert in New York began this way, according to the NYT:

"Neil Young was just a few bars into an indignant old song at Carnegie Hall on Monday night, chugging a terse intro on an acoustic guitar, when he abruptly threw the emergency brake.

“Wrong!” he barked, waving one hand, as if to cut off a rehearsal band. Part of the audience had started clapping to the beat — but not quite on the beat, as Mr. Young complained. His tone was even, his exasperation clear.

“It’s something that you probably don’t know,” he said, peering into the house from the stage, “but there’s a hell of a distance between you and me.”

End quote. I get that all these guys are cranks. Not saying they aren't legends and class acts, but to say their current work compares unfavorably with that of Prince is just wrong.

EW posted today the song is called:

I was also looking on Joshua's twitter page & it seems he had a lot to do with this song. It is only ok, but not that great in my opinion. I think if the lyrics would have had more to do with the story in the episode it would have been better.
