It ain't that serious....

Why didn't you say the same to Mindflux? That was even more serious in tone than my post......OHHH it's because i'm not licking balls.

Man...I don't have time to play because that's not where I'm at...lol

U can hate Prince til your lil heart grows three sizes bigger if it makes you feel better....

I will be in the cheap seats relaxing....

(*oh yeah....My post was no jab at u...It's the "sky is falling," miserable energy that has swallowed up this place....There are plenty of things that Prince has done over the years that have induced me to give the man the middle finger...But making catchy pop songs ain't one of them....The trouble around these parts is that many folks on this board take themselves--And Prince---much too seriously....Hence my "it ain't that serious" line...Prince has ALWAYS written silly pop songs alongside his so called serious work......All this to say again...It ain't that serious....*)

Saw the episode last night, was much better than I expected it to be. Loved the song too.

I really quite like this song. As some have mentioned here, it's a feel-good number, and it fits the purpose of the scene in the show rather well. In some ways, it reminds me of "Good Love", from the Bright Lights, Big City" film; I really like that, as well.

For those of you who are curious,

it is the Hornheadz playing horns on this track.

[Edited 2/3/14 10:02am]

Thanks! Can you tell us if this version was a remix or the original?

-

It was an edit of the version we worked on.

I wouldn't know if that was the original, or some other incarnation of the piece.

.
When did you work on the track? Curious how old the song is

I doubt she's on the studio version. Her parts were the only "live" element. The rest was clearly playback.

I really liked this too, though I hope what were heard was a remix and the actual song is a bit more organic/funky.

I disagree with this. She's clearly lip-synching and her voice sounds studio-recorded.

Absolutely she and everyone on that stage is lip-syncing which makes it pretty cheesy but typical for network television

Watch it again. She sings her part over top Prince's voice. She's not on the original track.

December 2013? When did you record Groovy Potential? Thought they had a similar vibe.

yeah 2013. We did horns for Groovy Potential in July 2012.

I suppose there is a similar horn sound to it with the double section thing going on,

one pass with open brass, the other with muted brass.

However, there is no flute and clarinet in this one like there is in GP.

Your work on this song and the songs you recorded horns for Prince and Andy Allo is greatly appreciated! What I love about "Don't You Wanna Fall In Love", is the punchiness of the horn section.

Not to play A&R....But this song is HIT waiting to happen....But in the Prince universe that don't mean shit...lol

Should have been released on Itunes right after New Girl (as others have so rightly said...)...But hey...I have a feeling he's going to be pushed into dropping this joint pretty soon...The bloggers and pop culture tastemakers are all over it....

I have the feeling that we will never hear the full song, and that will be a shame. I agree with everyone else: it should have been up on itunes straight away, original version and remix.

Don't pretend this track is anything special, album filler at best.

Of course plenty of people are already throwing the C name around, completely ignorant of knowing what Camille was all about. "Squeecky voice? Must be Camille!" Sheesh. Yeah, let's pretend some weak-ass throwaway track belongs amongst those pearls.

And for all those constantly bemoaning his apparent lack of business/marketing skills. Prince is one of the most successful musicians in history - FACT!

Yeah, that's why his history is littered with people suing him for unpaid bills.

Now, either his business acumen is better than you think, or he is so talented that even with shoddy business decisions he has still managed to be wildly successful. Either way, your accusations have no credibility.

But he isn't. He's an oldies act. Zero relevance. Now compare to Springsteen or Neil Young etc.

It woud've been good marketing to put out this song but at the end of the day, it's still publicity for him just being on the show. More people are going to be interested in him as a whole after watching the show..

bart..if prince was soo desparate for a hit..why doesnt he piggy back onto some hot artist like they all seem to do...will.i.am does it all the time...release a duet and he is back in the top ten before you know it ?..plenty of young artists would love to work with him...?

The truth is u wouldn't know a hit if it punched u in the nuts, Bart....

Stop with the strawman bullshit...lol...No one in this thread said the song was genius or a "pearl"...It's a fuckin' pop song, homie...The type of silly pop song Prince has done before...

If you don't like it I can dig it...To each it's own...RESPECT (real talk)....

But for u and others to act like Prince is above making a pop song for the masses shows once again that Prince fans take themselves much too seriously...You doing waaaay too much right now......
