The coolest thing would be to release a directors cut of the film and re-release in theaters and DVD. I would buy it in a heartbeat, take my teens to see it, re-live the moment but with a fresh twist. I've seen it a million times, but would see it with new eyes if more footage were added.

*It would also find a new audience if it were marketed properly.

*

A new CD with extra stuff, wouldn't really matter. But seeing addition footage and extended scenes would just put this on everyone's radar once again and the soundtrack would sell even more.

Lol. Yeah right. E.T. took something like $700m when it was first released, awhile back they brought an anniversary edition out and it took a paltry $20m in box office.

By comparison, Purple Rain took $70m on release, so how much do you think it'd make on re-release?

Not happening.

They could re-release it for 1 night across the US during the summer and make a couple of million. It could be a good way of cross promotion of a deluxe Cd Purple Rain and the movie. But neither will happen so keep dreaming.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Does he have the master tape rights?

They have run "Purple Rain" at midnight before in the theaters.

1st Avenue should do a special night of showing the film and making it into another fundraiser with live music after, and include a Q&A with the director, and show some of the outtakes?

Just throwing some ideas out there.

I think we will see P and the Revolution again, and as far as Warners go, if you saw Van Morrison's complaint about the "Moondance" box set, at least they haven't tried to do the same thing to Prince. Not that they could, because he had control over what Warners got.

But that doesn't mean we won't open up Livestream and he's putting all the outtakes and demos out there as a one time thing.

If 2014 will be as big as 2013...

OLDHATJ

Make a killer album and add Purple Rain remastered as a free disc. Heavily promote and Prince will be back on top.

Dream on.

He won't do or can't do anything.

Net result is nothing.
