Regardless if you love Prince or not, if you know music, you cannot say anything but what the OP has stated.

Prince is peerless. I have been saying this for a long time. Greatest Musician Ever!

And, he does it with STYLE!

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Really? He is peerless?? Absolutley not true. There are all kinds of musicians swiriling around that are as good as he is. They may not be as high profile as him, but none the less are his peers and as good as he is. Both younger than him and his age or older.

You're incapable of opening your ears up tothe genius of other music apparently.

However your issue, Prince was capable of opening his ears up to other sounds.

His is sound is a mash up of many different people heard and unheard seen and unseen credited and uncredited.

Sorry to let you in on this, Micheal Jackson wasn't the greatest dancer or singer either. He may be a great, but not the greatest.

And what way is that?

They have a much more wider view of music than just Prince, quite certain they like somethings.

Certainly certain they like plenty more of other peoples work than just Prince.

it would be quite interesting to compile a list with links to all the sounds Prince has used from other artist.

That's where you're wrong....I love music. Latin, Funk, 70's Rock, Pop, Rap... many facets. It's my love of music that allows me to hear Prince's genius. The man is a fusion machine.

I'm 46 years old and no one has even come close in my lifetime to putting it ALL TOGETHER like he has.

Prince has some great stuff, other musicians have equally great stuff as well.

I'm actually being sincere here.

I mean, I get that Frank Zappa was a multi-instrumentalist, and Sting or Peter Murphy are supreme lyricists, and that Michael Jackson could dance his ass off when lip syncing, but Prince embodies so much more than those afore mentioned musicians. And, don't even get me started with what Jenna Jameson can do with a penis.

There are plenty of musicians who probably fancy themselves as MJ proteges, like Justin Timberlake, etc.

But i seriously doubt that anybody thinks that they are the next Prince. I mean, this guy is just in a class all his own.

I can really think of nobody who embodies all the different attributes that Prince has, and make it all look so seemless and natural. He really just amazes me that way.

So, when I see threads asking of Bowie is better than Prince, I can't help but think "get the fuck out of her with that bullshit" (and I love Bowie).

Your thoughts?

.

It's seamless... evillol

But I agree with you one hundred percent. There is not, never has been and never will be anyone quite like Prince IMO.

Some people are just unique and he is one of those people. For good or ill, he just doesn't think like everybody else....that's the core of it.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Prince is prepared to take on all competition, critics, naysayers, trolls, haters, and law-suit happy ambulance chasers... lol

Seriously, it must be really hard for Prince to compete with himself in the past... I am listening to that awesome live version of Something in the Water right now from the birthday boot... Prince himself said that the only competition he has is with himself (or a quote similar to that). When you have created a canon of music that substantial, it must be really hard to try and top it... I give Prince kudos for trying (minus the rap, etc.) to keep recreating himself musically. True, there have been hits and misses... But, IMO he has and still puts out music that I want to hear. I hope he continues to do so... wink
