New Bowie album - prince pay attention

i know i have mentioned this before.. Got the new Bowie album yesterday, just goes to show when you put effort in you create a classic. Bowies new album is pure class.

Prince should listen and stop trying to be 20.

You waited 10 years and all Bowie does is a average album.

I will stick with Prince, not all he puts out is perfect, but there has been alot of good stuff in the last 10 years.

Maybe Bowie should take notice.

have you actually listened to the album?

i am equally a massive bowie and prince fan. Just tired of prince producing this plastic sound all the time with no energy and this mock arrogance.

I've been playing Bowie's new one a lot the last week or so. It's really good, but a classic? I don't think so.

Its somewhere where prince needs to go. Really organic not his heavily studio produced organic. Just raw, and deep lyrics. Double meanings, and strong melodies. I know Prince can do it. I know he can.

Mods lock this 'ish'. I'm tired of the Bowie's back non-sense. I listened to the first two tracks and its some slit your wrist music that he gets a pass for cause its supposed to be artsy and deep. hells naw! bor.ing. P doesn't need to try to emulate this. cause P's libido is still alive and well doesn't mean he's trying to be 20! Bowie grates, put this ish in the proper forum

Actually no you don't know that and even if you did then maybe he's been there and done that already.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

You act like you came in here really saying something but you haven't. Have you read your original post. Have you read your other replies in response to someone just because they dont agree with you or don't accept Bowie jizzing on them?

lagantest, for a fan of an artist who is supposed to be so deep and of utmost importance (Bowie) you post very shallow and reactive. You haven't exactly written a dissertation here.

Why are these lazy type of threads allowed ?..they are juat as ridiculous as the Prince has a hair on his elbow threads.

Its all a matter of taste.

I am just saying in comparable to Prince latest offerings i think he is hitting a bit of a stale mate. He isn't causing the excitment he used to and people dont even know prince still records. I feel sorry for him but i still listen to his latest stuff.

er

I'm not a big Bowie fan, but I am a big Dylan fan. I loved Tempest. But I don't go to the Prince forum to talk about it! That's why we have a non-Prince forum! Mods, please put a lock on this. Thank U!

This is your point of view, okay.

I think the new Bowie album is a solid album with some highlights on it.

Bowie´s 2nd last album is from 2003, so 10 years old and we heard nothing new inbetween.

Prince instead released some great music with the Musicology, 3121 and the Lotusflower/MPLsound CDs ( without mentioning Planet Earth and 20TEN here, although they aren´t bad albums imo) with much more great music than Bowie had to offer over the last decade.

And now, starting a new topic with this crap on a Prince forum bores me to hell!

Feel free to start this thread on any Bowie forum, maybe u gain more attention there...

I haven't heard the new Bowie album yet, but if there's a single song on there as good as Slow Burn, I'll be content.

Oh..nobody has ever made that comment before here ver..especially in the last three months. No, it has not happened.

And in your assessment of how Prince is stale and Bowie is supposedly funky fresh, you give stock reasons and dont go into detail of what makes Bowie so good, what songs, lyrics, melodies and such that strike you and what Prince songs seem uninspired and why. You dont discuss the production values save for the same ol same ol plastic analogy but do not give a balanced view of what Prince does get right and what Bowie fails at.

And then you have the nerve to say "it's all a matter of taste"

This is what and how you use your precious few posts?

You kind of posting New Power Soul and Never Let Me Down instead of Ziggy and Sign Of The Times.

I like David Bowie and love the new album, but you've got to realize Prince will never, ever do what Bowie is doing now. lol

Yes, "The Next Day" is a very good album, yes, it is a matter of taste and yes it is not the place to discuss it.

Well, the fact is, The Next Day is #1 in 40+ countries, both in CD form and on iTunes right now!!! When was the last time Prince had a # 1 album in 40+ countries in any form, physically and/or digitally???? I cant think of any new project he has brought out that has done that and he didnt even disappear for 10 years!! Maybe thats what Prince should do, disappear for about 10 years then come back in the way Bowie has, no fanfare, no interviews or promotions, no press conferences!! I am tired of Prince doing press conferences cos his ego still makes him beleive hes the greatest musician alive!! Its not the 80s/90s now Prince!!!rolleyes rolleyes

Bowie has always had legions of dedicated fans and they have been waiting 10 years for something, anything new. That's why Bowie has the #1 album in 40+ countries, as was previously stated. That doesn't mean the album is good or something Prince needs to emulate. It just means it was overdue.

It's number 1, wow that must mean it's great. I can't believe after all this time we've found the perfect measure of quality to compare between any one artist and Prince. So fucking simple.

Oh hang on, Nicki Minaj also gets to number one.
