half these threads should just be polls. you vote and you leave. this whole idea of convincing the other orger to see your point of view is sooooooooooo pointless. people have opinions and I dont care if you're gerald shargel, you're not going to make them see it your way. I'm all for a healthy debate but these aren't debates they're just petty banter that wastes everyones time and brain cells. Imagine the convenience if it was just polls. For instance:

Who hasn't bought the new tracks:

I haven't because I'm not spending my money on music I can't preview first even if it is Prince []

I haven't because I want something physical that I can touch and good quality []

I did! You have to be insane not to want to buy his new stuff it's been exactly what we've been waiting for []

I did and if you didn't you're not real fans I mean c'mon it's only 88 cents []

SEE how simple that is. No one needs to convince anyone and you still get to speak your piece. When we start a new thread there should be the option of making it a poll.

My thing is if these come out on an album I wanna hear them all new at once. I miss the old days of getting a new album and only knowing 1 song. It just ruins it for me if I have already played the crap out of half or a quarter of an album. If it becomes known that these will not be on an album, I'll rush on over to 3rdeye and buy um up!

Astounding.

I realise people have different reasons for being on this site, but to hang out on here as much as some on this thread do, only to say that you won't fork out a few dollars for new Prince music...I just don't get it.

Half the available songs are in WAV format and by far the majority of people have had smooth transactions.

It doesn't mean that there aren't issues or that improvements can't be made (I'm looking forward to every song offering a choice of formats - preferably MP3 and FLAC), but you're hardly taking a big financial risk, shelling out 88c to check out a song.

As for Nursev's justification that you just want to wait a while...why? Is Screwdriver going to sound better in March? Is Boyfriend more of an April song? In another thread recently you described yourself as "bored as f**k". Great news! I have the perfect solution. Listen to all the new music that's been released so far this year! wink

I am enjoying the single releases more than I thought I would. As someone said recently, getting a few days in between each song gives me time to really listen to and digest every one - something that might not happen quite so much with an album, where you tend to latch onto a couple of favourites straight away.

If someone extended that idea and only downloaded one song every couple of weeks, I'd get that - although personally, I'd still buy them and download them, just in case, even if I didn't listen to them straight away.

Each to their own, I know. I just find it a little baffling that people are Prince fans to the extent that they're an active, posting member of an unofficial fan site* - at least one of whom posts regularly about how much she looooves Prince - and yet these very people, who should arguably be the first ones lining up to buy new music as it becomes available (which his fan base have been pleading with him to put up for years) are casually holding back, waiting for a better time to enjoy them, or to get lossless (which are already there) or because they've listened to them once and decided that they couldn't possibly grow on them and that there's no chance they'll get their 88c worth.

As for the poster who is brutal about their absolute unwillingness to spend pocket change on new, official music in several threads and yet starts a whole new one in order to advertise illegal material that they expect fans to spend money on (and the difference is...? More expensive? Worse quality?), it's a joke that they're even tolerated here.

Time is a valuable thing too, so here's my advice. If 88c means so much to you that you'll refuse to spend it on new Prince music, then don't waste your time around here - the time you spend posting is surely worth miles more than what it would cost to grab some new, good, fun - mostly lossless - Prince music over at 3rdeyegirl.com.

*Hatrina is an obvious exception in all of this IMO - she's always been perfectly clear about why she's here and it's fairly obvious why she'll probably never buy them wink

As for this lastest post:

mzspongebob said:

There aren't even words. The fact that you'd put a smiley at the end of that means that you simply don't get it. But congratulations, genius - you're officially part of the problem.

clapping Right on!

its really a shame that Prince finally tries out the internet and his fans will not support him. Its just really a shame. Chances are Prince will probably stop realeasing the music if noone supports him. I know I would. He really does have the worst fans out there. They are never happy with anything that man does!! sad He has my support!! The songs are not 80s classics but they ARE good!! I wish he would put up a song a day!!

The good thing is, this unofficial site, does not speak for his entire, worldwide fan base, just a teeny portion, so I wouldn't sweat it. lol If you like the songs, then buy it, if not, then to each their own, life goes on. Your reason for buying music should depend on what type of music you like, not worrying about those who don't.

LMAO! Why are people that bought the songs, up in here telling us what bad fans we are?

You've bought the songs. Shouldn't you be too busy somewhere enjoying, singing, dancing or hell, masterbating to them, to concern yourselves with those of us that are surely missing out on all the fun?

I would think most of y'all would be glad that I personally haven't bothered to get Prince's new music because if I did, y'all already know I wouldn't hesistant to say what I honestly thought about it and as recent years have shown, y'all don't handle that well, at all. giggle

I'd like to hear the tracks, but I've not been able to due to my awful experience with the site. I got no email with the link to the tracks. People were saying just to login with my account, so I dragged the confirmation email out of my junk where I found it languishing. It reminded me of my username, which I entered. 'Unknown username'. Sigh. I'll persevere tonight, but I'm not impressed. E-commerce isn't exactly in it's early days.

I haven´t bought any of them yet because I don´t use a credit card for online transactions and to this day I have never had to use PayPal but my main reason is that I just don´t like the new songs. RockNRoll Love Affair is a song that I can´t even listen to, that´s how much I dislike it and it is the first official release by Prince that I have not bought and won´t buy. Don´t get me started with the remix, the song still sucks. If some people here like it, fine. I don´t have to like it.

Screwdriver sucks. Again, cool if the majority here likes it, but I think "I´m your driver you´re my screw." is one of the most idiotic lines in any Prince song, ever. Prince´s lyrics have always been a major reason why I became a fan in 1984 in the first place, and I have probably spent thousands on Prince and his music and his concerts and DVDs over the years so I don´t think I HAVE to spend any money on stuff I don´t like. I tried to watch the Screwdriver "movie" on some website for free, and I could´ve downloaded it easily (or paid) but I couldn´t even make it through half of it, that´s how embarrassing it was. Not just the lyrics but the whole thing, the dancers, the low-fi low-budget feel to it, the ridiculous intro. I have many friends who could seriously come up with a better video for a fraction of the money that went into making that horrible joke of a video, and I´m serious...most of my friends who are in the promo video clip business are way more creative with their videos and could´ve made a better video. There are good folks here on the org like our very dear orgmember Ufoclub who could´ve made a stellar promovideo which would´ve yielded a better result than that cheesefest that is called the Screwdriver "movie".

Again, I could´ve downloaded it, could´ve watched it but didn´t . Because it was simply awful.

Would I have downloaded it and paid money for it on 3rd Eye Girl if I liked it? Sure, why not. It´s not about the money. It´s about liking a product and supporting your favorite artist. Prince is still my favorite artist but so far I only like two of those new songs, and I will probably buy them later via PayPal.

Would I feel guilty if I downloaded them elsewhere without paying 88 ct?

No, hell no. Not because I´m cheap and stingy because I´m not but because Prince has ripped off his fanbase so many times over the years, charged some of us multiple times for certain products without any refund, or charged money without delivering AT ALL, why would I feel guilty? Did he feel guilty?Out of loyalty I would probably later download the legit releases or buy a possible physical product but only if I like the music.

The days of being a completist are over for me.

Who is trying to tell you what you should or shouldn't do?

lol No one, and I wouldn't allow that if anyone was trying to. Anyway, I didn't meant to give the impression that someone was actually telling me what music I should or should not purchase, it's just that I am saying for me, I wouldn't allow anyone to do so, based on their opinion of whether they like the tracks or not.

Hatrina, I'm more or less speaking in 'general terms' , and sort of agreeing with a 'portion' of your previous post. In other words, as I stated no one should care who purchased the music or not, because we don't all have the same tastes in music.

Don´t get me wrong though. I do like the new concept and the regular output we´ve experienced lately, and I´d rather see Prince offer some sketchy songs for download and flooding us with new ( or vault) material than go through a long period of no releases at all. I´m sure there will be some songs for everybody among the many songs he´s offering...it´s just that most of the new songs were not my thing.

I still like at least two or three songs on MPLsound and 20Ten but as a whole, they are also not my cup of tea but it´s still nice to have them and we all like different songs on those albums, just like the Emancipation album, so in a nutshell, it´s good that he can release music to his liking and we can choose what we like. But the days of solid, filler-free albums seem to be over.

One solution if don't like using your credit card for online transactions: Next time at a drug store like CVS get a pre-paid Visa card and use it to setup the Paypal account.

For even more privacy or even for anonomous transcation get a pre-paid card by Vanilla https://www.onevanilla.com/onevanilla/ they only require a zip code.

That´s some good advice, thanks.

Everything bolded I could've typed myself. Maybe we're just middle aged old farts.

Nobody is saying yall are bad fans..its that:

yall aren't true fans

If you were a real true fan Rod you wouldn't have said that. Does nobody care about poor DJJs stinky saddle?

Maybe we feel the way we feel about those songs because we are NOT middle aged old farts? lol

At least mentally?

Because I don´t know any young people who like corny stuff like Screwdriver or RnR Love Affair.

Breakfast Can Wait, maybe. Boyfriend? Possibly. That Girl Thang? Maybe some girls like it.

But who in his right mind and under 30 would seriously get into something utterly boring such as Screwdriver or RnR Love Affair?

Personally, I like Breakfast Can Wait and That Girl Thang, the latter in particular because I like Prince on acoustic guitar ( I love songs like Reflection and Sometimes It Snows in April) so maybe I´ll download those two....but the rest? Meh.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
