Bad move by Prince to diss Maroon 5. He should be flattered. And while I love Prince on the cover of Billboard, when was the last time he has a hit to warrant it?

The last time he had an album in the stores.

Identity

The Prince of hypocrisy suffers from memory loss. I seem to recall that he has recorded & released his versions of songs written by others:

"One of Us"

"Everyday is a Winding Road''

"Betcha by Golly Wow''

"I Can't Make U Love Me"

''La, La, La Means I Love U"

"A Case of You"

^ I had to laugh at this comment:

But the relationship turned sour and Madonna referred to Prince as a “little troll” in 1994.

Good lord, why must he always come across as a douche in interviews? This bullshit about covers is just...annoying. Was he giving Miles shit when Miles chose to play Prince songs live?

on the wendy williams show, they were talking about this interview

she mentioned that prince didn't want the interviewer to record or write while interview is taking place and prince's secret to staying young is not associating with old people and prefers to be around young people since they have fresh ideas or something like that wink

i don't know if this part of the interview has been discussed already but hopefully we can see the full interview

this is why I don't really read his interviews these days.He talks too much nonsense.I liked it better in the early 80s when he rarely did interviews. His mystique made him much more interesting.

I've read the complete interview and Prince does not say anything bad about Madonna or Maroon 5. The media wants it to be something so they have been fueling this since it came out. Makes sense that he doesn't like interviews because then crap like this happen.

The glasses look like a sleeping mask to me, only gold instead of black, cream or white. Prince really brings on the eye candy on the cover, with his eyes looking down, lips slightly parted and chest hair delicately exposed.

I love that he's gone natural with his hair and is leaving the chemicals behind. Prince is a trailblazer, and his originality can never be duplicated. I choose not to read too much into the eye covering because that is one of the great things about this artist. You never know what to expect from him, and he'll always leave a trail of mystery and intrigue to captivate his audience.

Isn't that what musical geniuses do??? They strive to give us a new look and sound that we've never seen before and that is what Prince will continue to do. He is the King of Unpredictability, Self-Expressionist Extroadinare with a Splash of Boldness to titillate the senses. I can't wait to see what else he's got in store!

Enjoy the ride! smile

Very well written, could not have said it better.... thank u wink

Could it be we read different interviews?

He said Madonna is partly to blame for his leaving Warner. Warner lavished attention upon her and she gained financially. He went on to say that he was out-sellling her at the time, which must be a joke. And then he slammed Maroon 5 for covering "Kiss" because he believes no one should commerically release covers. Hilarious.

First let me say you can't believe everything you read obviously. However these kinds of comments seem consistent with a Prince that continually disses artist who adore him and reach audiences that otherwise his music wouldn't. As for Madonna I seriously doubt there was any venom directed towards M... But rather WB did not pay him the same courtesy as they did her.

If P actually said he was outselling Madonna he is just nuts. Ms once every 2 or 3 albums easily outsold Prince after PR even though he was releasing a full album a year.

Lets face it... it's Prince's way or the highway. The truth is occasionally it has worked but for the last 20 years or so this guy has completely sabotaged his career.

Prince lives in a bubble. It is almost completely void of the reality that we all live in. I am embarrassed by him these days. The name of this new website, the 3eye girl stupidity (childishness)... And I'm your driver your my screw. Really now?

It's time for me to let dude go

I REALLY like his current hair style. I think it suits his face quite well. I wasn't too fond of his hair from mid 90s to mid 2000s but I'm liking his current look nod

That part makes no sense to me,either. The only time a Prince album outsold a Madonna album was in 1984 (I think Purple Rain sold more than Like A Virgin, but probably not by much). What Prince fails to mention is that (let's face it),Madonna was simply better at selling/promoting herself. She has always been a shrewd businesswoman.Prince should have been taking notes.

lol. i agree, Maroon 5 did a cover... so what? he should be flattered indeed. Maroon 5 is a huge fan of Prince his work and they admire him a lot... you don't have to like it, but you can at least respect that they admire your work and you should feel flattered.

not all covers are great, but there are some great ones. Darling Nikki by Foo Fighters, and my favorite, obviously, Sign O Times by Muse (which is NOT yet released official btw, could maybe happen..)

agreed. i don't get why he has to make such a statement. Madonna was doing her job, promoting herself very well. he might have outsold her once in 1984 but come on! during the 90's no way! and not even after 1984, Madonna sold more records than Prince has and always sold more than him, so lots of bullshit talking from Prince here.

lol @ Prince condemning others for doing covers. He's covered other artists many times, primarily in his live shows but also on his recordings.

Also, WTF is up with those "glasses"?? Well, I guess it's not quite as bad as his 1994 look:
