He actually said thank you eek He must have been on the old sherry when he wrote that lol

Anyway while we have Prince in a thankful mood...........

Dear Mr Nelson,

I feel compelled to write, you probably won’t read it so I’m on a wing and prayer with this...

Thank you for giving us an entertaining year, with your ideas and interesting productions and releases, its been like a novel you can’t put down, it’s been fascinating year from you as usual.

Now we have you in a generous mood may I suggest a few requests from you this year for 2013? Hope you don’t think this is too forward as I know you’re a very busy man playing with your guitar all day lol, sorry just joking. Seriously I know your life is demanding with making deals, sorting out band members throwing proteges out your pockets and doors from left right and centre and just basically looking after the whole Paisley Park empire.

Here is my list of suggestions, this is not in everyone’s taste but I think you would benefit highly from them:

1. Some people want remasters etc, me personally I don’t think you should look backwards but forwards your eyes are in the front of your head not at the back so this includes when you do your next tour is to promote your new album thoroughly.

2. Bring out a dark funky rocky album preferably like Lotusflower but darker, you don't have to swear or cuss for it to be dark just go back to basics you know what I’m saying P.

This will guarantee a number 1 and gain rep from the so call ‘music critics’, I know majority of them can’t even play a single musical note to save there lives but there writers, remember publicity in their mags is good.

3. Tour in Europe preferably London. This maybe a selfish idea, you know this works perfectly for you as you made the list as one of the top performers ever when you did your stint at the o2.

4. Now Mr Nelson lets get straight to the point with this one, I know you still have the database addresses from all the Lotusflowers members including there bank details (naughty naughty). May I suggest you dig that out and give a gig to all the members only? Say from each major city (London New York Paris etc) for promotional album gig? When beyonce did a intimate album gig at the koko, London it was gig of the year. Now this would work extremely favourable with the press and fans. Again major rep points, remember people won't stop talking about you for years to decades on that one.

5. This last one is more of a gripe: I don’t think a new website is needed but one wouldn’t hurt just for info and pre released gigs say? It worked well for the 3121 site. Because them ticket touts buy all the tickets up and sell it back to the concert goer at extortionary prices putting them off going to see there fav artist, and Ticketmaster continue to allow this to happen. Again bags of rep from fans on that one too.

Just like to say you look fantastic in that picture.

Have a Happy and wonderful New Year biggrin

Ms Park

lol lol lol lol lol

Sorry about that but needed to pick myself off the floor. While I totally agree with your album style preference (dark funky rock) the chances of Prince having a number 1 in 2013 are about ZERO.

He is no longer relevant to the YOOF of today. He is as removed and irrelevant to them as Elvis was to me (I'm 43) in my teens.

I couldn't care less about chart positions. I just want some great music that *I* can enjoy.

[Edited 1/3/13 7:01am]

Sorry for making you pick yourself off the floor, hope you didn't go into shock or anything lol

We may not care less about charts, but could the same be said for Prince? The way he is allowing these remixes which is pretty much what type of music the youth of today are listening to suggests otherwise IMO.

BTW - hope I didn't come across as flaming you! Was meant in a light-hearted way.

Unlike some people (I am looking at you KCOOLMUZIQ) I don't feel the need to insult people who hold a view that is different to mine.

Prince didn't have that & still sold half a million & still pocketed more of the profits with only one retailer Target. Which is astounding. So ur point wasn't really made.

Dude - this "conversation" started because I disagreed that Prince could score a No.1 and you started spouting on about sales figures. Now when someone else points out that his sales were not as impressive as others at that time you swap arguments to be about what his earnings (might have been) in comparison (BTW unless you are either Prince or Urban then you have no accurate way of knowing how much either earn and it is all speculation). These are two completely different issues.

So I maintain my point - I would be extremely surprised if Prince could score a No.1 again (certainly not without a major label behind him).

confused Oh and what gives you the right to call people "clueless" anyway?

I'm wishing for New Orleans to be his first stop, however I'm thinking Philly & Las Vegas will be first and soon.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

It is a question of the right timing and the promotion...all the latest albums have been top 3...

US chart position:

3121 #1

Musicology #3

Planet earth #3

LotusFlower #2

So a number one is not that unlikely...we will see smile

Rock and roll love affair, the single, showed that with some promotion, a new single by him gets airplay at major radio stations...a thing we haven`t seen in germany a long time;)

Who cares if the next Prince album goes to number one? I'm just hoping for a set of music that's not catering to the mainstream. Prince's biggest success was when he was being creative and different. Not trying to fit in with the status quo.

This rumor of a double album is quite exciting. When's the last time we got one of those? 1987? LF/MPLSound don't count. And neither does Emancipation. biggrin

i don't think we really ever had one. i mean, sign o the times was firstly intended as something

that would have filled 3 discs, but it was recorded and conceived as LP format, right?

so if he'd actually set out to record a 2 disc album, that would be a first for him. he's always

gone over the top with 3 disc packages, but never a nice 2 disc set.

it would be very interesting to see how he would approach such a task. i think it would be very

good if he tried. it would give him room to incorporate more things into an album. there would

be room for both rock and funk but also some more weird and goofy stuff.

i'm very excited biggrin

A pop record.

Popularity can be measured in amounts of youtube views.

So yes, it was quite popular.

But popular stuff does not necessarily equal music with certain qualities that we look for.

Aha - and therein lies part of the problem in terms of perspective. I was not specifically talking about the US - so my bad! I am UK based where none of his last three albums charted.

Having said that you do not mention 20ten which didn't chart in the US either (no official release I know, ie no newspaper willing to echo what he did in UK etc so perhaps a moot point).

Anyway as I said previously, I just want a great album. If it is a chart hit also then that's just fine! Maybe I will eat my words smile

What happened?

This thread about

Prince being nice to his fans by thanking them

and he is enthusiastic to let his fanbase know he is working on someting,

turned into orgers venting negativity of the past.

I don't want to argue that Prince has been a great guy troughout his career. That just is not the case, he's done pretty low things.

But, my mom always told me to forgive others, because you also want to be forgiven for your mistakes. And then she would say:

"He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."

And that still is my adagium.

It seems as if people here get their life fuel by bitching about Prince.

Why spend so much energy in something that makes you feel so negative?

Well, even though SOTT was conceived as a triple album when it was called Crystal Ball, that's not what we ended up getting. I think it counts as a double album. 1999 I guess is different because when you buy it on CD, all of the songs fit onto one disc. But it was always referred to as a double album before CD's came out.
