He actually said thank you eek He must have been on the old sherry when he wrote that lol

Anyway while we have Prince in a thankful mood...........

Dear Mr Nelson,

I feel compelled to write, you probably won’t read it so I’m on a wing and prayer with this...

Thank you for giving us an entertaining year, with your ideas and interesting productions and releases, its been like a novel you can’t put down, it’s been fascinating year from you as usual.

Now we have you in a generous mood may I suggest a few requests from you this year for 2013? Hope you don’t think this is too forward as I know you’re a very busy man playing with your guitar all day lol, sorry just joking. Seriously I know your life is demanding with making deals, sorting out band members throwing proteges out your pockets and doors from left right and centre and just basically looking after the whole Paisley Park empire.

Here is my list of suggestions, this is not in everyone’s taste but I think you would benefit highly from them:

1. Some people want remasters etc, me personally I don’t think you should look backwards but forwards your eyes are in the front of your head not at the back so this includes when you do your next tour is to promote your new album thoroughly.

2. Bring out a dark funky rocky album preferably like Lotusflower but darker, you don't have to swear or cuss for it to be dark just go back to basics you know what I’m saying P.

This will guarantee a number 1 and gain rep from the so call ‘music critics’, I know majority of them can’t even play a single musical note to save there lives but there writers, remember publicity in their mags is good.

3. Tour in Europe preferably London. This maybe a selfish idea, you know this works perfectly for you as you made the list as one of the top performers ever when you did your stint at the o2.

4. Now Mr Nelson lets get straight to the point with this one, I know you still have the database addresses from all the Lotusflowers members including there bank details (naughty naughty). May I suggest you dig that out and give a gig to all the members only? Say from each major city (London New York Paris etc) for promotional album gig? When beyonce did a intimate album gig at the koko, London it was gig of the year. Now this would work extremely favourable with the press and fans. Again major rep points, remember people won't stop talking about you for years to decades on that one.

5. This last one is more of a gripe: I don’t think a new website is needed but one wouldn’t hurt just for info and pre released gigs say? It worked well for the 3121 site. Because them ticket touts buy all the tickets up and sell it back to the concert goer at extortionary prices putting them off going to see there fav artist, and Ticketmaster continue to allow this to happen. Again bags of rep from fans on that one too.

Just like to say you look fantastic in that picture.

Have a Happy and wonderful New Year biggrin

Ms Park

yeahthat

Afraid we have heard this all before. Prince's attention span is smaller than a gnat's. Personally I hope for (but won't get):

1. A new album (single disc would be fine = 12 great tracks no filler)

2. A tour of the UK (a residence at O2 would be fine)

3. Remastered WB back catalogue complete with b-sides and rarities

4. Some more vault material released

5. DVD of the 2007 O2 performance(s)

hmmm I wonder whether any of this is more than a dream?

Sorry about that but needed to pick myself off the floor. While I totally agree with your album style preference (dark funky rock) the chances of Prince having a number 1 in 2013 are about ZERO.

He is no longer relevant to the YOOF of today. He is as removed and irrelevant to them as Elvis was to me (I'm 43) in my teens.

I couldn't care less about chart positions. I just want some great music that *I* can enjoy.

Did U look at the charts when Lotuflow3r first week sales came out?Prince would have went #1 if Keith Urban's label didn't play major record label poilitics. Did U miss the number #1 debut of Prince's half a million sold 3121?That was just a few years ago. Ur so clueless.I wonder why peeps even bother to post without knowing facts about Prince.

Exactly. If someone wants to hear something that could be a "hit" these days, let them turn on the radio and they can hear all the tired mess they want.

Woah cool it man! It's a bit strong to call me "clueless" - I would consider myself pretty clued up on all things prince thanks (just do not feel the need to spend my life on Prince.org and post nearly 7,000 posts).

2006 will have been SEVEN years ago by the time a new album (if indeed there is one) is released. The world has moved on. Even the Beatles didn't score a no.1 when they released some previously unreleased material in 95/96 and they have sold ten times what Prince has (and their Anthology release at the time was multi-platinum)! 3121 and Lotusflow3r were both only Gold in the US and nothing elsewhere!

I truly do not believe Prince will ever get a number 1 again - because he is too good for the mostly musically uneducated kids of today who buy manufactured crap!

Hey you know if he does manage to score big time sales-wise and chart position wise then great. Personally I do not care though. I just want new music.

My guess at the "something big" is to be the opening act for the Olympic Stadium, London, when it opens as a music venue in July 2013. Doesn't get much bigger than that! Would tie in nicely with a new album release in Europe. biggrin

nah. no he ain't going to sell that out...

i think something big is just a new album release with (maybe) a lot of promo and some other stuff, with maybe a long tour.

The speculation on this site is probably 80% of the eventual complaints posted after a project does get released. A snippet becomes the theme of the new release. A new hairstyle is the look of the new era. Sometimes thank you is just thank you and when someone says to wait for it maybe you should.

As of February 1, 2012, Lotusflower has sold 543,700 units. Keith Urbans album has gone Platinum in US, Australia and Canada. Even if he had a strong opening the album sure didn't sell as well as Urban. I'm sure people would have said WB rigged the charts as well back in the day. It was happening with many artists. Sony had Pepsi buying up MJ records to get his chart positions. But charts don't mater much, exposure does. And he does not do well with sustained visibility for his records as they drop. Sure, he could chart AND sell better, but he seems to have no idea how to get a coherent promotions team together. People STILL know when a Springsteen, Madonna or U2 record is dropping.

U are so clueless. I don't even know why I'm bothering to respond. It doesn't matter if Keith went platinum or not. I bet U he still didn't make as much as Prince did selling half of that from only ONE retailer. Also those artist U all mentioned had major record label backing. Prince didn't have that & still sold half a million & still pocketed more of the profits with only one retailer Target. Which is astounding. So ur point wasn't really made.

I agree with KCOOLMUZIQ that comparing LotusFlow3r 2 anything by Keith Urban is apples and oranges. But I agree fully with Zannaloaf that Prince doesn't know "how to get a coherent promotions team together" -- and this leads 2 his albums going nowhere. LotusFlow3r.com kind of looked promising until the t-shirt fiasco derailed it. Other than the initial CD release concerts in LA and a Tonight Show performance, Prince didn't support LotusFlow3r in the rest of the USA with any concerts or in-store appearances. Ultimately, the CD struggled to move at almost every single Target -- and was clearance-priced at $1.99 in the summer of 2010.

KCOOLMUZIQ, U are kind of incorrect about how LotusFlow3r was distributed. It wasn't only released at Target USA, that was only the original release exclusivity about it. About a month after its Target USA release, it became available 2 record stores worldwide (even Walmart here in Canada carried it!), and it also had an official vinyl release in France (as well as the single CD and vinyl versions of MPLSound were released in France). Other than some European concerts, Prince didn't do any concerts or promo 4 LotusFlow3r anywhere else. And then we were far too soon on2 the magnificent 20TEN...

Prince being an independent artist has given him the freedom to try different methods of releasing & distributing his "MasterPieces". In some cases he has been brilliant. But in order to acheive greatness U have to not be afraid to fall & be able to get back up & try again. Prince being so prolific has given him many chances to throw his "MasterPieces" out & see where they land. U have to give him credit for trying.

Prince himself said he will not release anymore music. Until he finds a better way for it to be distributed & compensated correctly for it. Now obviously with "WHAT'S' BIG COMING". He has finally found a better way for us to experience his MasterPieces" the right way.

So be poaitive stop living in the past & let the magnificent astound U .
