Mr. Goodnight

Mister, mister,
Love U mister

Come on

[Chorus:]
Call Mr Goodnight
He'll make U feel alright
Make U throw Ur head back and holla
So nice, so nice
Better not tell Ur girlfriend
U can try with all Ur might
Just can't keep a secret
'Bout goodnight, goodnight

Hey, baby, hey baby, hey, baby, sitting all alone in my courtyard
Lookin' as if U have every right
All over the world they call me Prince
But U can call me Mr Goodnight

Surely the dandies that escort U places
Imparted a rumour or 2
About the parade of lovely faces
That follow me ... surely they do?

What say U 2 that, lips so inviting
It's all I can do not 2 stare
What say U 2 them, past, present and future
That U don't care (I don't care)

If so, U'll be the first, and I'll give u the keys
2 the whip of Ur dreams, alright?
All over the world they call me Prince (yeah)
But U can call me Mr Goodnight

[Chorus]

Now I don't wanna put to U 2 sleep with a bunch of chatter
And a rap that really don't matter
But now that U know who I am U need 2 make plans
And all Ur other pennies should scatter (scatter)

A limousine about 2 pick U up
And then took U 2 a private jet (2 fine) (yeah)
And then U gonna meet a little Spanish man
Who will offer U wine and Moet

In an hour or 2, U'll be taken to a suite
That will rock all Ur wildest dreams
And on the bed 3 dresses 2 choose 1, pick 1
Then U get a call from me (ring)

Tell me which dress U chose
So I can put on, put on my matching suit
All the real guys hold Ur hands up
U know how Mr Goodnight do it

[Chorus]

I love U baby
I don't want nobody else

Call Mr Goodnight (U can call him) (any time at all)
Call Mr Goodnight (yeah, yeah, yeah) (I love U mister)

MP3: Mike Philly in the band like jams at midnight
Before the main attraction U'll see
Slow it down somewhere here on Earth
Just 2 check how ur reaction be

And if ur heartbeat goes up a notch or 2
There ain't no telling what I might do
I got a mind full of good intentions
And a mouth full of raisenets (better not tell U)

We can watch 'Chocolat' on the big screen
Before we convene in the pool (yeah)
The waterfall'll wash Ur cares away
Already I love U, I do

[Chorus]

The energy in this field's been known to flicker lights, aye
A slip O' me with no rest, acapella moans and a break of sighs (goodnight) (call, call)
Undeterred nevertheless a masterpiece on butterscotch thighs (call, call)
Turn off the lights, turn off the lights
It's time for Mr Goodnight

Mr. Goodnight is the sixth track from Prince's 32nd album Planet Earth, and, three weeks after the album's initial release (with the Mail on Sunday newspaper in the UK and Ireland), it was included as the b-side of the promotional single Chelsea Rodgers, available only in the USA.

While specific recording dates are not known, it is likely that initial tracking took place in Spring 2007, most likely at 3121 at The Rio Las Vegas, NV, USA (although possibly at either Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA or Circle House Miami, FL, USA). The song's lyrics refer to listening to the track Somewhere Here On Earth, which is believed to have been recorded in March, 2007, suggesting that Mr. Goodnight was recorded between March and June, 2007. -PrinceVault

All The Midnights In The World

Because I turned my eye toward U
Because I seek your hand
Every other woman envies U
And me, every other man

A massive circle of jealousy
Is coming round again
Those prickly fingered scallywags
That masquerade as friends

Make a promise this very night
That they will no longer pose
A threat to either 1 of us
Then let the chapter close

For all the midnights, in the world
This 1 will serve us better
If U choose to be my girl

Like Susan's petals
A wonderful life, the 2 of us shall lead
The children of the future've all the
Spiritual food they need

The secrets that the 1s before
With grace, they've come and shown
2gether with love 4 1another
We shall make them known

With the love and happy days
I number the grains of sand
Writing 12 times ever more
If I could be Ur man

Amethyst and rubies
Crystals and black pearls
I trade them all, just to spend with U
All the midnights, in the world

All the midnights, in the world

Chelsea Rodgers
Released: August 6, 2007

Chelsea Rodgers – 5:41

A model... used 2 be a role model

I dunno (Come on, Chelsea!)
I dunno (Come on)
Uh-huh

Ah, go 'head now Chelsea! Go 'head now! (Uh-huh, uh-huh)
Huh, this 4 Jersey right here
Go 'head now!
(Ah, ah, ah, ah)

CHORUS:
Chelsea Rodgers was a model
But she really rocked the role, yes she did
Kept her tears up in a bottle
She poured them out 2 save your soul (Soul, soul)

Ask her what she liked the most (She say)
She like 2 talk 2 Jimi's ghost, Ow!
Fantasy or bragger's boast (This girl is fly)
Chelsea's fly — like coast 2 coast (Mmmm)

Hollywood or Times Square
If the party's fly, my girl is there (Yes she is)
Earth boots on and flowers in her hair
21st Century hippie, Chelsea don't care (Cuz...)

Chelsea Rodgers was a model (Well...)
But she really rocked the role (Yes she did)
She kept her tears up in a bottle
Poured them out 2 save your soul

Try 2 catch her if U can (Come on now, 2gether)
But U never see her with one man (Uh, brother got 2 jump in the water)
Cuz they must be baptized according 2 the master plan
'Fore she give up the good thang — Go 'head Chelsea! (Go 'head Chelsea!)

No blood diamonds or designer chic (Uh, no-no!)
'Cuz she's 2 original from her head down 2 her feet
(We can hate) U can hate if U want 2 — Chelsea don't eat no meat
Still got butt like a letter 'C' — go 'head Chelsea! (Go 'head Chelsea!)

Chelsea Rodgers was a model
But she really rocked the role (Yeah)
She kept her tears up in a bottle
Poured them out 2 save your soul (Soul, soul)

Go'n Chelsea!
Speak on that horns

Come on
Next 2 her they just a fool
Chelsea read more books than a few (Go'n Chelsea!)
Like Moses was a Pharaoh in the 18th Dynasty
And Rome was chillin' in Carthage in 33 BCE
And the day that we stop counting, we'll live as long as a tree
Go 'head Chelsea, teach me ... Go 'head Chelsea

Make a promise 2 your higher self
Get true knowledge then fame and wealth
U don't be chasin' nobody's ghost
Of everything, make the most... Come on!

Chelsea Rodgers was a model (Yeah, yeah)
But she really rocked the role (Yeah, yeah)
She kept her tears up in a bottle (Yes she did)
Poured them out 2 save your soul (Save your soul, baby) (Might as well dance)

Chelsea Rodgers was a model (Might as well dance)
But she really rocked the role (Might as well, might as well dance)
She kept her tears up in a bottle (Might as well, might as well dance)
Poured them out 2 save your soul (Let me get some, come wit it, come on) (Might as well)

(Dance) {x4}
(Go on, Chelsea)
(Go 'head) {x3} (Go) {repeated}
(G.B.) {Reference to Greg Boyer}

(Keep that body movin', make that body work) {x2}
(Go on, Chelsea) {x4}

(Lee, Lee, Lee, hit it) {Reference to Lee Hogans}

(Shake it like a juicy juice) {x4}
(Breakdown)

Chel...

Chelsea Rodgers was a model
But she really rocked the role
Kept her tears up in a bottle
Poured them out 2 save your soul

Chelsea Rodgers was a model
Poured them out 2 save your soul

Prince @ the Matthew Williamson Fashion show 9.19.2007

A huge white tent was erected especially for the show in London’s Eaton Square.

Celebrities attending the show which opened almost an hour late included Erin O’Connor, Trudie Styler (Sting’s wife) Donna Air and Daisy Lowe.

The crowd bopped along to the five piece band, whilst Prince’s twin dancers, draped in purple jersey cavorted down the catwalk.

Last night the diminutive musician was among those gathered at the Victoria and Albert Museum for a £1,000 a seat fundraising fashion dinner.

Prince's Back-Up Singers - London Fashion Week - Matthew Williamson Spring/Summer 2008 - Prince Performs

Sometimes (well most times actually) a fashion show isn't just about what you see. What you hear is just as important. Most pre-show noises come from the photographer's pen - usually grumblings and demands for the front row to uncross their legs lest any stray feet appear in their shots. But then there's the show music - and we've heard some very good and some very bad soundtracks this week. The musical winner earlier today was, without a doubt, Matthew Williamson. He had Prince's band playing at the front of his catwalk in a huge white tent erected on Eaton Square. The singer's tiny twin dancers worked the runway in purple - flinging their hair around to Chelsea Rodgers from his latest album. After a couple of bars the man himself leapt up from the front row and started singing live to the spontaneous applause from the entire audience. Then the show started: full marks Matthew. Special mention must also be given to Gareth Pugh who ingeniously chose the theme tune for the original version of The Clothes Show for his catwalk - now we know what he was doing as a young lad in Sunderland at Sunday teatime. Black marks for Eley Kishimoto though, who chose some dreadful screechy fairground music at their much delayed, and disappointing show.

MATTHEW WILLIAMSON

IF you're coming home after five years on the New York schedule - to an exhibition feting your decade of success in the industry, no less - you've got to make an impression… How to really get noticed? How about Prince performing from his seat in the front row? That just about did it for Matthew Williamson this morning. A tent in Eaton Square shook with the tension of a style World Cup as the fashion glitterati hustled for their closer-than-close front row seats; squeals of excitement and cheering from backstage gave us a clue that something mega was about to happen… and then a couple of Motown backing singers (microphone afro and lash-to-brow eye glitter - we're talking the real deal…), took to the stage and we didn't know whether to sit and clap or stand up and dance.

All of a sudden identical twin dancers, in purple silk shifts with silver sashes, appeared to perform pop dressage down the catwalk with Prince himself singing his latest song from his seat in the front row. Until then, knowing as we did that he'd been in town for the Couture Gala last night (wearing white Versace), we assumed he'd just come to support Williamson (and hide his Gala hangover behind those glossy black shades and matching trilby) - but now we hear the whole thing will serve as Prince's new video, no less. From front row to MTV… It was a serious fashion moment, dahlink - and Williamson gave himself a job to live up to the moment with his new collection after such an eye-popping opener.

Loving his bright embroidered dresses and sassy short shorts as we always have, this latest offering was better than ever and, frankly, even Prince couldn't upstage it as we began furiously daydreaming of the high life dressed in these dramatically cutaway beaded swimsuits, skinny neon Ts and sassy trouser suits in stripes of green, grey and cream. A workman dismantling Prince's band's synthesiser was unabashed as the models stepped carefully around him (and the photographers all jeered), but that only served to let us take even more notice of the amazing shoes - let's hope it's still Camilla Skovgaard in charge of Williamson's footwear because these black and white chequered lace-up heels, edged in pink, turquoise, green, coral and yellow, were completely gorgeous (and mesmerising when the models strode out together at the end).

Aztec prints and intricate, glittering, multi-coloured seed pearl embroidery - on cropped jackets with cutaways behind each shoulder, on the necks of bright vests, or in a band above the bottom on backless column dresses - were the most polished we've seen yet from Williamson, while petrol studded T-shirts and waistcoats meant his pretty ladies can be tough in the limelight, too. It's not all about all-out glamour, either - rough cotton turned-up shorts and safari shirts were the perfect tailored backdrop to let all that colour do the talking, while sweet printed wraparound summer dresses, some in lightest chiffon with the print taken from a butterfly wing, made downtime as good looking as can be. Black muslin bled as if on pH paper from white to coral for sexy minis, while Grecian goddesses in cream muslin with gold beading added old world splendour. "You don't have to be beautiful to turn me on," sang Prince (from the speakers this time), as the show came to an end. Yeah, but it helps. No matter if he's heading back to New York next season, with this show Williamson proved that it's London he loves - and London is seriously in love with him. (September 19 2007, AM)

I like Planet Earth. It was a decent album--I mean, nothing spectacular, but more enjoyable than much of his post-mellinium stuff. To me, it lacked emotion, but for a summer album, it was kind of enjoyable. :bigfontwin:
