Planet earth by far is one of my favorite albums by Prince (call me crazy).

I enjoyed every song. Guitar, somewhere here on earth, lion of Juda, future baby mama,

chelsea rogers... I can play these songs over and over again.

I agree! I can play this album over and over and I always enjoy every bit of it. It is one of my favorite albums as well especially from the 2000 era. The only thing I would do is maybe move the songs around a bit? I think the title song "Planet Earth" is brilliant and maybe better fit as the ending to the album. Other than, all the songs are strong to me and the entire vibe of the album is splendid with a vast diversity of tracks.

Guitar is the first single from Prince's 2007 album Planet Earth. This song was #39 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007.

The digital single was released in MP3 format through a partnership with Verizon Wireless, and O2. The music video for the song, featuring his current dancers "The Twinz" premiered on the Verizon website.

The song was released to radio stations on June 11, while the CD single format was released worldwide on July 9.

Although not as successful on the charts as many of his other songs, "Guitar" entered the Top 40 of the singles charts in four countries: Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan, where it peaked at #10 on the singles chart

John Stratton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Verizon, noted, "When Prince, who has consistently been on the cutting edge of music, harnesses innovative technology to deliver his fresh new music, that's a tremendous opportunity for music lovers across the country. At Verizon, we're committed to delivering hot multimedia services to the public in a way that's powerful, direct and relevant."

Guitar

(Oh yeah)

Yeah
Uh uh

Gettin' dirty at the club again
Usually 'round your waist like a chain, but then
I got that call so I jumped in my car
I love U, baby, but not like I love my guitar
Uh uh ... not like I love my guitar ... no

U couldn't do it all by yourself
U had 2 go and get somebody else
U're high enough 2 call me but U can't reach the bar
I love U, baby, but not like I love my guitar
No ... not like I love my guitar
Oh, listen
Turn it up

Uh huh
Yeah, now dig it...

I tried 2 warn ya that it's hard 2 be a star
Especially when U're drivin' other peoples' car
Woulda gave U mine, girl, but U took it 2 far
I love U, baby, huh, just not like I love my guitar
Uh uh ... not like I love my guitar
Oh!

I know U love me and U wanna be friends
And if U don't at least U need 2 pretend
We're still 2gether even if we don't get that far
I love U, baby, but not like I love this guitar
(I love U, baby, I love U, baby)
(Not like I love my guitar)

I love U baby and I wish U well (I wish U well)
I'll write a letter when I learn how 2 spell
Until that day, U can go 2... {laugh}
I love U baby... U know the rest

Aah aah aah, whoo!

from Prince's 3121.com website it reads...

Once there, play the interactive video online, hold your phone to your computer speaker and V CAST Song ID will identify the song. Customers can then select the “Get Song” option on their phones to download “Guitar” for free. Verizon Wireless V CAST customers also have the option to purchase the “Guitar” Ringtone or Ringback tone. ... "

Planet Earth also

5 songs? That means their contribution to Planet Earth is greater than their contribution to Sign ’o‘ the Times (on which they appear on only 3 songs). biggrin

Fonkyman

Scuse me for a minute but I saw that post of the 9th September afters and I had a bit of a flashback...

I'd had about 3 hours kip and hardly anything to eat before going to the gigs on the 9th. I was shaking and in no state to go gigging really but I wasn't up for missing it. I'd missed all the August gigs already and didn't get to anything til the 6th.

We had seats by the band about 5th row for the main show. I didn't think the row of seats were gonna hold up as there were more than a few chunkies trying to fit their arses in the seats. I mean real chunkies. Some of em still eating. The woman next to me had something like curry on a paper plate. At a gig? One fella on the end was so big he couldn't even sit down. I'm not kidding, he was massive. I thought I was in that story bout the pie contest from Stand by me.

P kept us all waiting for bleedin ages. I was gettin peckish. A few Mexican waves went round and everyone started stompin, "We will rock you" style. When they eventually got the show started, they opened with a short version of it before going into Let's Go Crazy. I remember P coming over to our side singing "Somebody take my picture, ugh, maybe not" during Baby I'm A Star. I had my phone out in a flash and stole his soul in shit quality before saving it to the memory card. The girl next to me did the same and after the gig we swapped pics. She had a better camera on her phone. P saw us holding our phones up, looked shitty and shot off, pronto. Or was it Tonto?

Not a bad main show. Funky version of Play That Funky Music where he got a few lunatics up on stage for a jig. "Ooh, Fonky London"...

Loved the piano sets too. SHOE was gorgeous. I was gagging for him to play Strange Relationship or Paisley Park, even The Ladder. We got the first one. Adore too. Blinding versions of em as well. That voice is the bollocks. Loved it when he got funky in the middle of Adore. How he does that and gets away with it never ceases to amaze me. Funky in a ballad? "This condition I got". Brilliant.

Sadly the 2nd 'piano set' wasn't as good. Real music by real musicians? He played samples of the usual teasers and had a little singalong for a bit. Finished the show with I Feel For You and Controversy and we were off a bit sharpish for the afters.

On the way around the stage Naomi Campbell swanned by us. I barely gave her a look, the brainless rubout. As I turned back to my missus I bumped into Melanie Blatt, literally. I asked her what she thought of the show. "Fucking brilliant" she said. She was slaughtered. She eyed me up and down and said she had the same T-shirt I had on. (ONA with the face) We had a quick chat about how 'fucking brilliant' ONA had been too and she reached out and started rubbing me up and down on the chest. Saucy fecker.

Stood beside her was a really tall skinny fella, must've been 6.6 plus. He was trying to usher her away but she wasn't having it. I told her she should come to the afters but one look at my missus told me we wouldn't be taking Mel in with us if she did go. She didn't have tickets anyway. She strolled off into the crowds leaving me with something for the wank-bank and the missus with rolling eyes.

We were up in the balcony for the afters. Front row with a great view. We'd been on the floor for the 6th afters and while we'd had a great view then, we did get the pissed up fuckwitts trying to ruin it. I nearly chinned a fella on the 6th. The 9th was a much better atmosphere. I got a beer in, had plenty of space and a comfy seat to sit on while we waited for the show. If there was gonna be one. Thankfully, he turned up and blew the place apart.

The place was buzzing already. It started with some keys, nice and mellow. Too much of the vocoder lead us into Footprints before Shelby had to come out with Cherish the day (You turn your mic down ffs version) and tried to ruin it all for me. No offense Shel but turn it down love or stay indoors.

He played some real blinders. Brilliant version of "ATCLUI London" had the place rocking and the crowd were bang on it. Funky version of Alphabet St. went down well too. Joy In Repetition was too gorgeous. Then he played this jam on the guitar, rocky sort of thing through Peach then into Rock Me Baby. Ohhhhh shit. Like that wasn't good enough, he started jammin again. Funky as fuck little tune. Simple but so funky. I completely lost the plot.

"London can I talk to you for a second" He says... "Who got the biggest house"? He went on talking about music and digital downloads etc.. He could read out a dictionary and make it sound funky. It was red hot. It's an energy exchange isn't that right.

It seemed to go on for ages. By the time he'd finished with Controversy I was dead on my feet. Alright, I might have been half-cut. On the way out I got chatting to a couple of fellas. I got them to link arms and carry me from the Indigo, smuggled beer still in hand til we got right outside. We were pissing ourselves laughing. Good couple of lads, there's good people about.

I wasn't online at the time and all I had to listen to of the gigs was what I'd recorded on my phone. Thankfully when I did get online someone pointed me to the dvd of the main show and we're on it, along with Melanie Blatt smile

Main shows we did were the 6th, 9th and the 20th. For afters we did the 6th on the floor, 9th in the balcony, 13th Vip and the 16th right up front and centre about 6ft away from his mic stand. 16th and the 13th were two of the best gigs I've been to.

I remember listening to New Morning from Paris when I was 16 or 17 and thinking how lucky the crowd were to have been there. At one of his 'legendary aftershows' etc... I missed out on the Camden aftershow in '88 as I was on the way home from the main gig so when I heard he was doing afters at the Indigo I had to go.

I can still buzz off those afters. There's few things in life you can't put a price on. Some things you might wanna do, maybe, one day, if you had the chance etc. etc... Being at one of his aftershows 'one day, if I got the chance' was one of those things on my wish list. They came at a really shitty time in my life and I didn't look for tickets til September because of it. The O2's no more than an hours drive away and when September came, finally, I dragged my arse up there and got it sorted before he shot off. Lucky I did. Those afters were the tits.

Really cool photos, I haven't seen! Prince was totally comfortable it seemed during this period! LOL..The shirt he has on, is really cool! I think he dressed pretty well during this season, all the clothes just are Prince and inspiring!

Planet Earth is just a cool era! Prince shows around this time are some of my favorite to watch! (The fact that he acknowledged another one of my favorite artist around this time, Amy Winehouse, is pretty cool too)

I really wish I had a ticket to see him in London! Everyone just raves at his aftershows and interaction with the audience. The album itself really took a while to grow on me, but it's a pretty decent album. He seemed to want to go a certain direction, but got lost in the middle of 'All The Midnights In The World'...LOL (Which isn't a bad song by the way..lol) The songs are pretty cool sound wise.

I love 'Somewhere Here On Earth' his voice just glides over the instruments quite well. My favorite has to be 'Lion Of Judah', I have not seen or heard news of him playing this live which is a real bummer! But it slams on CD! I love 'Guitar' when he plays it live, he just tears it up each and every time he performs it. Especially on Leno' that performance is out the water! When he really lets go on guitar, on the CD he manages to make it so Pop-ish. But it is still a decent effort! Haha..

I guess Chelsea Rodgers is my least favorite song, but it has grown on me..It is a very funky cut. The album as a whole just goes many directions, but that is what makes it special I guess? Maybe he was representing 'Planet Earth' in that fashion? Who knows? LOL..But I give it a 7.5 out of 10. biggrin

Initial tracking dates are uncertain, but it is believed that the track was recorded in early March, 2007 at 3121 at The Rio in Las Vegas, as the track was premiered with Christian Scott on 10 March, 2007 (am) as an instrumental and 11 March, 2007 (am) as the full vocal track.

Somewhere Here On Earth

I know U're out there
I can feel your eyes on me
I've seen that face a thousand times
If only in my dreams

I know U really want me
I can feel your hands on me
I really wanna touch U, 2
In a way I'm much 2 shy 2 speak

And even though I'm all alone
4 what it's worth U're somewhere here on Earth
And I like it

I know U're out there
I can feel U getting closer 2 me
I'm just wondering what U're waiting 4
U know I am free

In this digital age — U could just page me
I know it's a rage, but it just don't engage me
Like the face 2 face ... U wanna do this at yours, or my place?

It's been so long since I been with somebody
Like a million years
But now U're here on Earth
U're here, U're here

Somewhere here on Earth
And I like it, I like it

Listen...
I know U hear me
Like a whisper in your ear
U don't have 2 fear me
U're everything I hold so dear

I know U already love me
U're probably just 2 cool 2 say
Somebody, somewhere put U down
But that's ok, that's ok

Cuz whatever U feel, it's time 2 heal
No, no more hurt as long as I'm here on Earth

During the week of September 3, 2007, Prince flew to Prague, and then Spain to film a music video for Somewhere Here on Earth.

the video premiered on the BET Channel on February 12, 2008

Prince has shot a new video for "Somewhere Here On Earth". The clip was recorded in [Prague] and follows the relationship between Prince and his beautiful muse who he cannot quite capture. The clip tries to capture the love and pain of the song.

Production Company: Bikini Films
Director: Phil Griffin
Producer: Kate Phillips

Starring: Prince of Minneapolis MN

Manuela Arcuri of Latina, Italy

"Driven by gentle piano strings and a seductive saxophone, Prince turns on the charm of this late night jazz piece. Played over the sound of crackling vinyl, the singer's high pitched vocals eventually breaking into a booming line: Do U want 2 do this at yours or my place?
