i'm just putting this thread out here as a counterpart to the one which has turned into a prince bash-fest. APPRECIATED

how the freak do any of you know enough about prince to even comment on his personality? i only comment about the things I KNOW he has done over the years

have YOU ever met him? ever said hello? ever spent enough time to actually get to know him? NO, so I can't say if Prince treated me like crap or not, but I know that usually he doesn't say "hello" back...

are you aware that his attorneys do things to protect his interests without his direct knowledge? No, but if that's the case, he should control them more, just sayin'

are you aware that dickheaded bootleggers on the internet have been trying to and have been, stealing from him for years now? can you imagine how frustrating and hurtful that must be? by that logic, any artist should give up since Piracy is here to stay...other veteran artists like Springsteen, Dylan, the Stones, Madonna, etc are also heavily bootlegged but they don't make a drama about it...perhaps because they have a REAL distribution deal that assures at least two million copies sold of any new release...

do you understand the fact that prince does not have to live his life to please you? he should realize that, at this point (post-90's) he basically needs the support of his hardcore fans, specially for the "tours"...

are you expecting prince to eradicate evil and stop industrial pollutants and environmental destruction and bring world peace? perhaps he should leave his MPL fortress from time to time and start campaigning for causes that are worth fighting for shrug

is your own life so sadly lacking that you need to come to an internet website where every little thing a pop star does is something you take PERSONALLY???? Ridiculous question. Fans DO care about what their FAVORITE arists do/say, real life has nothing to do with this; this is the ORG, where Prince fans talk about Prince...I can't see why this means that my life, or any other orger's life, is lacking rolleyes

if these thing ring a bell with you, it might be time to sign off and work on your own life a bit. just saying Unnecessary, ridiculous and insulting comment part 2; without the dedication of the fans, artists could not make a career; forums dedicated to popstars have been successful/necessary since the 90s, any artist knows that...

lol

You been saying he's talking about anal stimulation and his booty in a lot of songs. I am inclined to believe some are your own interpretation, so you want to say it doesn't stimulate you?!

I always thought he's talking about the women's point of view in some songs, and sexy mf was not new to me.

However, the only song that is written with a man in mind is "Do Me, Baby". This is the only song he's talking gay sex, and now you wanna say this song doesn't stimulate you when you think he's talking about gay sex? lol

^^ There are countless org posts over the years of people saying they met him, or their friend/brother/colleague/etc. met him, and every one is positive. Saying he was cool, chatted with them, asked if they were OK when they tripped, joked with them, etc.

Only exception are the crazy org posts about having met him but he "broke my sanddollar," "abused a disabled fan" or supposedly had security escort me out because I was so fine, etc. etc. (i.e., the obviously disturbed infatuated lady fans who are upset because he didn't love them wacky ).

Of the positive stories, the one that really sticks in my mind is about the guy who didn't know that the man sitting on a curb with a beard and dressed like a bum was Prince (I guess dressed like in the "Come On" video); he stops and asks the "bum" if he needs help; Prince shakes his head "no," but the guy gives Prince his sandwich; sometime later, someone from Paisley Park calls the guy up and offers to let him and his band use the studio for free - turns out Prince noted his license plate number, looked him up, found out he was a musician, and wanted to return his random act of kindness.

That one sticks in my mind because he went out of his way to track his guy down and thank him. Like the lady fan who got a bunch of fresh flowers for a week after she offered Prince her water at a concert/aftershow.

clapping Thank you. I'm sure Prince can be an asshole at times but isn't everyone several times a day. What gets me is how some people who've never even met the guy can take what he does soooo personally. He's not your daddy. He's some random guy who happens to be a musical genius. But he owes you nothing.

YES! I so concur!

lol Love your thread. It seems some fans are the only passengers riding on the negative train 24/7, and being miserable seems to be the only sunshine in their lives. I'm not surprised that some fans, often times many diehard fans, come across as though they think they can put Prince in their back pockets, take him out like a wind-up doll, and control the strings to make him do whatever they want him to do or be, as a musician/performer.

Yes, it's a complete coincindence that every time someone who ran his fanclub met him they ended up disgusted and selling everything.

I never really minded if he was a nice guy or not. Who wants to be a nice guy 24/7? Some real great musician can be dickheads. No one in this world is loved by everyone. Someone will always try to hate on you or make life difficult. You can't please everyone. I've seen stories where he be a good guy and others where he be a dick. Prince is human. I'm in it for the music!

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

Complete exaggeration. Every time? OK, so how many people is that then, exactly?

I reckon there's more people in the world that have worked with him that would say he's not an asshole, then people who would say he is.

When I made my Parade documentary, every one had nothing but good things to say about him. And those were people that worked with him. Matt Fink, Brent and Clare Fischer, etc. Hell, even with all the fDeluxe drama, Jellybean still didn't have a bad word to say about him when I talked to him.

Stymie

Taking to some friends, one who I am close to and whose opinion I greatly value, I had to reconsider labeling Prince as such. One friend thought it was bad of me to call him that without defining why I felt that way and the other friend said that we are all imperfect and make mistakes and I should not be so quick to judge him. That touched me immensely because I know I would not want someone, particularly someone who does not know me, calling me an asshole.

Quick story: I found out yesterday that Nicki Minaj is going to be a judge on American Idol. At first, it made me super angry because I think she has no singing talent among other not so nice things I thought. Then it occurred to me: I don’t have to listen to her and I don’t watch American Idol in the first place so this has no effect on me whatsoever.

I say this to say that many of the things I’ve said about Prince on the things he has done also have no effect on my life whatsoever. He has done nothing to me personally and while it saddens me when he’s issued cease and desist letters or other things, it’s not my fight and that is his life. I don’t have to like it.

And, he continues to make hypocrites of the most heart-hardened of us. When a show is announced, it almost like you can’t not go. I was deadest against going and then it’s announced that it’s benefitting an organization with a great cause and then it’s like: how can I call him an asshole and he’s doing this? I believe I can be a fan and still be critical and question actions but I myself do not have to be an asshole about it.

I can’t apologize to him but I do apologize at those who took offense to what I said.

So please have this thread deleted ASAP.
