The only time Prince played a Hendrix song better then Jimi himself

I never liked Prince's versions of Hendrix songs.i think that Rave version of Red House is very wteak, studio tribute also.there is a version of Vilanova Junction from the same aftershow Amy Winhouse was on,well that version of jimi's song is a mindblowing moment in music. If you didn't hear it you got to hear it.i think that is the only time Prince played Jimi better then Jimi himself did.amazing guitar playing full of fire and passion. P.s. Actually Prince played a great version of Red House with the Revolution Paris New Morning 1986 aftershows

Many other artists have tried but failed to do Hendrix justice. Lotusflow3r pays a fair compliment to Jimi. I if I had "one rainy wish" it would be for Prince to go further in that exploration.

SRV is probably the only guitarist who can hold a torch to him.

Buckethead can play Jimi Hendrix songs with one hand.

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

Buckethead plays Hendrix in his own style but it's nowhere close Jimi's fluid blues rock style.and Buckethead is lacking emotion,he is shread all the way. There is a guitar player, his name escapes me ,he played guitar and cowrie System of Shock by the Jacksons.that Guy is Jimi himself incarnated,it's amazing.back to the subject,go have a listen to Villanova Junction from the aftershow with Amy Winhouse.then listen to Jimi's original and tell me Prince didn't lift it on a higher level.

Im sorry but Prince is not a "Blues based" guitar player and could never play a guitar solo like Jimi.

Obviously he can play "blues" but it's not really his thing. From what I hear him play, he was more influenced by Santana and Spanish style guitar.(listen to the early Vanity records).

Obviously when you're as gifted as he is, you can play anything.

Jimi Hendrix however was a student of the blues.

Just like Prince, he was born with a natural gift for music.Jimi however was more influenced by guys like John Lee Hooker, Albert King,BB, Freddie King and Buddy guy.

Jimi played the "chitlin circuit" for many years too and was able to soak up all the early R&B styles.

He played with lil Richard,King Curtis, Isley bros and many more.

I was there that night 21 September 2007 IIRC

The atmosphere was electric and when I heard the opening riff to Villanova Junction I was rooted to the spot and welled up. Seriously a friend even asked me "are you ok"

It was just amazing however good it sounds on the boot in the room the atmosphere was completely electric
