Why is that all the diehard fans keep expecting Prince to change to suit their tastes?

Why haven't the diehards changed to grow/mature along with Prince?

Too many Prince fans are stuck on the past and refuse to let go until they gasp the final breath of life.

All the redundant conversations are about REMASTERS, THE REVOLUTION and THE VAULT. Sounds like the past to me!

I have matured past his the old Prince taste, that is my whole point. But the man is not giving anything special now in his MUSIC. It is almost all cliche. He needs to challenge himself to not JUST CREATE, but create to his potential as he used to. If this is his musical potential that he is pushing now, then all we can say is that maybe he is not the artist and genius that he spouts about.

That was the media and the fans calling him that not a self proclaimed blurb from Prince himself. From jump all Prince ever wanted to do was make music and not be confined to having to be told when and how much of it he could make. When Purple Rain was released he could've bit the head off a kitten on a CD and the media would have labelled it 'a daring foray of funk pioneering'. Now he has to work harder for accolades but it shouldn't diminsh his impact on current music and the lasting impact of his legacy.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Prince has carried all of the markings and pride of a man convinced he is a great artist through both his mannerisms and his music. And yes he has to WORK harder for it, something that he has not been doing creatively in quality. He has turned to all mechanics. Regardless of what he has achieved in the past, it is a waste of his talent to produce the half hearted tones he is producing now. But then, no one seems to be writing great music now anyway. He doesn't have much to compete with.

We are all so full of doody here

I wonder about that the whole time, but I am pretty sure he does this to piss the music industry off. PE may have been a woeful album, but when he plays the tunes from it live, you start thinking, is that really off that album. It is obvious that he has absolutely no interest in releasing the sort of stuff like in the 80´s.

Look at U2, pretty much the same thing, apart from Moment of Surrender on the last album, it was more of the same as well...

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

"True to his status as the last enigma in music, Prince crashed into London this week in a ball of confusion" The Times 2014

I always thought that Prince went into the studio to make what he feels is good music. How it is received is 100% on the buyer/listener. Some of the songs that are not singles are insanely popular and lauded by critics while the single release may have not been well received at all. It's all in the ear of the individual listening. It doesn't so much relfect that Prince is purposely making substandard music, it's more a reflection on the changing tastes of his listeners.
