Condorcet Album Poll: The Gold Experience - Final Results Available

Update: The poll has now been closed. Click here for results:

http://www.cs.cornell.edu...thm=runoff

This is the next installment in a series of polls ranking the songs on each album officially released by Prince or O+>. My goal is to determine which tracks should be included in a final poll to determine the overall top 25 Prince songs in the opinion of his fans.

For those of you who haven’t been following my polls, these are different than the usual “best song” threads in that they combine the preferences of all the voters into an overall list.

I am going through these in the same order that they were ranked in my earlier poll of the best Prince albums. Next up is The Gold Experience, ranked #7 in that poll.

If you’re a fan of The Artist, here’s your chance to rank his most beloved album from the O+> period. So please vote!

Please don’t discuss the preliminary results or campaign for your favorite song(s) until the poll is closed. I plan to close the poll on June 17, but I may close it early if the preliminary results are discussed on this site. This is to make sure the poll is as accurate as possible.

After Dolphin, Most Beautiful Girl, I Hate U, and Billy Jack Bitch. I will still having some trouble decided how to rank the songs on this genius album. It was criminally underrated. Proof that Prince was as great as ever in the 90s.

Voted. Very good album, although I was very surprised to see it ranking higher than Around The World In A Day, Lovesexy, Diamonds And Pearls and Symbol in the album poll. Slightly overrated in my opinion, but a rich and interesting album anyway.

By the way, I'd be very glad if the list that will result from these polls could be of 50 songs, and not only 25. Maybe I'm a list fanatic, but I'd be happy to have a bigger list resulting from the polls, it would be richer and would allow more discussion, in my opinion.

Thanks for the polls, it's fun and interesting to take part!

I agree there is plenty of greatness on this album,

but a few turds, too!

I had no problem picking my bottom 3.

I never get the love for this album...it is very average. I think the Come album (well at least the test pressing version) is vastly superior. Dolphin is a special song but that's it. Shy is pretty good and Gold is nice but feels contrived.

Anyway I agree that Prince still had a lot of genius left in him until about 1996... lots of gems on the Emancipation album (conversely, I don't understand a lot of the hate for that one).

Oh well Dolphin rules.

And I forget that Endorphinmachine was on there but it has stupid cowbell so doesn't count.

.

I'm actually thinking of doing it like a sports tournament, with one or two "wild card" rounds followed by a final round to determine the best of the best. I want to figure out a way to structure it so that I don't have too many songs in the final poll, because the longer the list is, the fewer people are willing to participate.

Note to everyone: remember not to discuss the preliminary results until the poll is closed. Thanks!

V10LETBLUES

Voted.

Like the Purple Rain poll reminded me on how great each and every song on it is, this reminded me how extremely overrated and mediocre this one is to me.

I'd like to see that too! The next poll will be on Lovesexy, and everyone seems to have a strong opinion on that album, so maybe there will be a lot of votes.
