There are some moments in which I really hate Prince.

That's one of them.

He will never perform, he won't even give a sign of life to this family.

And I really wouldn't be surprised if he sued the little guy... -.-

I don't think P can pay everybody their medical bills. Should he pay for this kid his father and not for the twins their mother?

I don't think it's good to pretend that a star is able to relieve the world from the pain and hardship that life offers.

This.

Absolutely. In addition, I appreciate that YouTube provides a means to get messages to people who otherwise may be uncontacable, but asking for something of that magnitude in public kinda puts a person on the spot.

If Prince does nothing then he's an arsehole in the eyes of joe public.. If he does then the floodgates open to similar requests. He can't do it all. Charity should always be a personal choice.

Not taking anything away from the boy. He's obviously going through a rough time.

Exactly right. This is obviously a sad situation, but if Prince performed a show for this guy, then he'd be getting dozens of equally heartbreaking requests before the show was even over.

If Prince is somehow able to send them a private note and maybe do something low-key, then perhaps something could be done.

the quietest way to deal with this i would think is for P to fly them out for a show all expenses comped and have them quietly pull the video from Youtube and not mention he did it.

that

I hope Prince sees this and is able to do something for the boy's dad.

I give the kid all the respect in the world for doing this, and I'm choking up as I type this. The young man must really love his father do try this.

What has he got to lose by asking? If Prince can't come, he just can't come. But you can't get him there if you don't ask.

Is there one of you here that, if you were asked to do something for a dying man and you could do it, would refuse? Seriously?

It's not like the kid is trying to give Prince a starfish or a cassette of a song he butchered. He's trying to help his dad.

Way to go, Sam Gardner. Your father should be very proud of you.

I don't think he's gonna do it. Because if he does it for him, he's gonna have to do it for everybody else. He's gonna get tons of other request like this.

My family having been blighted by cancer in recent times so I'm not saying this flippantly, I really DO feel for the kid and his father but no, like it or not, things like this are particularly unfair on the artist.

If he wants to help out, fine, beautiful and brilliant. If he doesn't, he shouldn't be made guilty.

agree. requests like this would drive me nuts, if i were prince. not because i wouldn't feel sympathetic and not because i wouldn't want to help people in need (prince routinely gives to charity, he's a very generous person), but because there would be no way i could live up to everyopne else's expectations of me and still have time to be me.

I hear you.

Both my parents died from cancer (my dad just in January this year).

Poor kid, not the thing to be dealing with ever really, in particular the age that he is.

I don't think Prince will play a show for this kids dad, but he might fly them out to a show or something, and if not, then we should respect that, because it don't necessarily mean that Prince said no.

I'm interested to see how this plays out.

I'd imagine Prince's people will make contact and work something out, but as others before me have mentioned - it'll all be very low key for all the reasons thus stated.

I wish the boy and his Father well - having lost my Father to Cancer last year, I know what he's going thru. It was hard enough for me to deal with as someone in their late 30's, I can only imagine how he's coping.

He's one tough kid. His Dad must be very proud.

The internet is dead to Prince, so he would have no way of knowing about this. Which is exactly what he wants. He wants control of the information that comes to him. And he has it. That is why he uses Dr. Funkenberry. His only contact with the internet is what he tells his people to tell Funkenberry. His people don't tell him anything about what Funkenberry says. The information flows only one way. If that girl Shelbey had had a website or a blog as popular, she would have been Funkenberry for sure.

So for all of you who think he might help this boy out, think again. But maybe this message will get to a Prince cover band or something. The one in Vegas was pretty good - Purple Reign I think they were called.

Prince - not black, not white........just COOL

Bless his sweet little heart for asking. I know that celebs do this type of thing for kids through the Make A Wish foundation all the time, but I don't think they have one for adults.

But if he wanted to, Prince could write the dad a song and send it to him with a little note attached...that would be nice. If they needed funds, he could put it on DocFB's site as a download with the proceeds going to the family.

He doesn't have to but it would be nice.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I feel for them, but now you hate Prince over something that he probably doesn't even know about? confused So is Prince supposed to perform for all fans that become ill?

Also, thanks to the poster who said they'd go make a donation and I'd hope that others here who expect Prince to do something, do the same.
