I don't think Prince is a "devil" or a "God", because, my God is the "holy" Spirit" inside of me..

It's been a long time now that I have been following, supporting and enjoying Prince 's music; and as a human, watching, listenning to another human, I wonder.

I was surely very impressed when I saw him close and cold once, thanks to his attitude, I face Reality now and sees him as human as I am

I have got a cousin who works for the music industry, and he told me that he was in the same room than Prince and, my cousin wanted to say "hello", or "hi" or maybe "bonjour" but the man was so cold...

what I meant by "will he ever touch the ground as a person..", : we are all human beings; we have got the same color of blood, we are built the same..

Would he be less Prince if he was more opened and "friendly" to people who approach him?

I don't understand, really..

Ok, that was your experience, but I'd just be a little careful about mistaking shy for cold.

Some of the most extroverted and seemingly friendly people can be ice cold in their intentions and motivations and many of the most shy and retiring can be extremely warm and compassionate - just because they don't feel safe showing it to the world for whatever reason (often this is literally due to their sensitive nature), doesn't mean it isn't so.

I of course don't know, as I haven't even met Prince, let alone know him well, but I have had my share of first impressions where I've misjudged the person I've met - either because they didn't seem to even acknowledge me and I took them to be aloof or not interested (later proven to be completely wrong), or because they were friendly and talkative and it was only later that I realised they just wanted something - or to be seen as something they really were not.

I would much rather Prince be himself - if that's shy and quiet when he's out of his comfort zone, then so be it.

The Holy Spirit within burns no less brightly inside the quietest of vessels, yes? rose

I think some of you are being a bit harsh on Prince.

First, we have to consider what kinds of words Prince is used to hearing at least 15 hours a day, every day of his life.

Words like, "Yes, Prince." or "OK Prince." or "Anything you want, Prince." or "write me an album, Prince." or "Let me put my hand on your kneee baby brotha" or "yes, yes, yes."

He hears these words about 99% of the time from everybody he comes into contact with. This means that it makes it very difficult for him to understand anybody who uses any other words. A sentence like, "Who were your major musical influences" simply uses too many words he's not familiar with hearing in confusing combinations. It's putting too much strain on him..

Yall need to be more considerate.

Opinions obviously differ wildly about Jehovah's Witnesses, but I don't think anyone could seriously argue that they're not friendly, particularly given that a fundamental principle of the religion is to go door to door, talking to people about their faith.

My money's on shy - "hi" might be harmless, but a response tends to invite further conversation. Imagine if everywhere you go, everything you do, every day, every night, you have strangers quietly (or not so quietly) desperate to start a conversation with you.

Maybe he's impolite, maybe he's arrogant, but I think the overriding factors here are him being shy and maybe a little fame-weary.

Very Very shy he is. Once in his comfort zone he quite talk-a-tive.

As much as I want to meet Prince this is one of the reasons I'd pass. I'm a fun laid back person and could care less who you are or what you do which makes it so easy for me to make friends with anyone. No lie. I don't look down on people and I've learned how to not let people's title, status, etc affect how I approach them or letting those things cause me to be awe struck or whatever you may call it. It's really all about respect when it comes to dealing with people. I really do enjoy meeting people and having fun and I also enjoy the company of a person with the personality of the Persona Prince portrays (The fun/cool guy.) It would be VERY uncomfortable for me to meet Prince if he was in one of his wierd moods because I wouldn't be able to handle how uncomfortable his attitude would make me feel.

It's just me and I'm not knocking Prince. I understand the guy is who he is and has been for most of his lifetime and obviously, I'm aware of his personality and still love him and can't complain. But, I'm a bit iffy when it comes to wanting to meet him. Now....if it came down to meeting him onstage or maybe when he's in one of his feel good moods backstage or whatevr...We'd have no problem there. I'd get up onstage and do what I was called up to do. - Have a funky good time. Prince or no Prince. - This girl knows how to have a good time! Anyway, Prince, He's human, he's got a sense of humor and knows how to paaartaaay! And thems the ones I like. lol

.......Oh-oh-oh, by the way...He plays guitar.

I haven't mistaken "shy" for "cold", my cousin's opinion was a different one that my own questions asked on the actual topic..

I am still amazed, more perplexxed and uncomfortable by Prince and other artists or famous people who act as superior in front of everyday people..

Of course some fans can be aggressive, cause they don't know how to or how not to express their feelings in front of some appreciated ones; of course journalists can and often do misinterpret the purposes of artists, so to protect themselves artists use a kind of a "shield"..

I suppose that the only and True answer is kept inside of Prince's mind..

A good movie title: "In Prince's mind" (referring to "being John Malkovitch) lol

Go to Youtube, look up "Kevin Smith:Prince" it will tell you why you don't want to meet Prince. If Smith is to be belived, Prince lives in his own little world. Quite interesting.

But that's Kevin Smith's story, that doesn't mean that it would be your story if you were to meet Prince in person. I know a couple of people who have met Prince and they said he was quite friendly to them. I would love to meet Prince but if I don't, then life goes on like it always has.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Maybe I'm an obsessive but I have always found Prince incredibly normal in comparison to his persona and the one he creates for himself visually. In interviews and on stage he appears very humorous and approachable, His music is actually almost anathema to the reality of the man

Note, I stated very clearly, "If Smith is to be believed". I am sure he did not sit down and concoct this elaborate tale that spans weeks and takes place in very public forums out of thin air. What is presented is a snapshot of a pattern of behavior that is consistant with official reports in publications that go back years. So unless your "couple of people" have had extended contact, worked on projects that have been shelved after hundreds of hours of work, not been paid, have been kept waiting for hours or even days on end for no good reason, then we are not talking about the same level of access or contact.

And so....here it is...I had a dream I spent some time with Prince and he was pretty cool. We were very comfortable in eachother's company even though I'd just met him. With this dream I am satisfied. He gave me some tickets to a show, bought me an outfit to wear and even hung out with me somewhere in NYC for a day. Never made it to the concert though....You know how dreams go. - Just when you're about ready to get to the good part, you spend time dreaming about going around in circles preparing or you just wake up. I experienced both. *shrug*

Well, Princey has always been the quiet, shy, Gemini kind around strangers. Growing up pains, teased, traumatic family life, yadda yadda yadda. Then came the record deal thing and interviews, Prince still shy but talked.

Then he was pissed off and hurt b/c his words, that he felt was sort of a privilege 4 ppl to hear, got turned around to make him something that he's not. So then came the one-answer responses, weird/confusing statements, and distrustfulness of people afterwards. Plus the fact that he felt his music can speak for him. Been that way ever since.

Plus he's at an age and experience level that he's heard it all and seen it all when it came to fan, businessman, whatever kind of people responses, so barely worth the time of his day to give a listen.

So he's cool and talkative with his friends, but I believe he still keeps ppl at a distance just in case (like the Chick Huntsberry National Inquirer situation).

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

He might not talk to the press or fans, but it might be different where he lives and people who've known him for a long time that he chooses to talk to.

You all know the media likes to twist words and chop up interviews. As far as trying to get him to stop to talk to fans before or after a show and not signing stuff and taking pics with them, he has his reasons.

You have no idea what fans are capable of doing or how rude they can get. I just think he likes keeping a safe distance and some control over who he wants to meet and when.I think if he heard of a 9 year old prodigy on guitar, he'd rather meet that kid and give him some words of encouragement than someone who's seen him 30 times and knows every song, knowing they're going to get their camera out, the marker out, and start making demands on him. I'm sure he's had to deal with this more than we know.

I'm sure when he started having some degree of fame, he prob. had some relatives who felt that because they were blood related, they could demand him to do things for them, and started asking him if he could perform at family functions, or invited to someone's wedding and be put on the spot to perform.

I agree with you.

I can't blame Prince for his behavior, seriously, he is just the way he is. We don't know the guy personally, so we don't know who he really is. If I must believe the things that are been said about him, I don't think he is a rude guy, or something like that. He just lives in his own world, just like i am too.

He is just shy too, and also like to keep distance between him & other people, maybe because people did disappoint him or hurt him in the past??

there must be a reason that he acts like this, I think it's just things that happened to him in the past, like teased, I'm also been teased a lot and also do have problems, and things that people don't like about me, like living in my own world, and also be arrogant sometimes.

So yeah, I really can understand him. I think everyone should try to respect everyone with their own problems and issues.

Prince would never, and I repeat... NEVER come to this site. Sorry all you diehard fans. "If" he did, for curiosity's sake, do you think he would return after reading some of the vicious things that some of the haters on here say about him? I would think not... Perhaps he came here early on out of cuirosity, but that cat was killed and all 9 lives after reading some of these haters' garbage.

I just gotta come out and say it. And I'm not trying to be rude, or trying to be an asshole, but I have to say it:

In all honesty, who really cares? I don't speak to people I don't know -- hell, I sometimes try my best to not speak to people I see every single day. I have a habit of avoiding my family. Some people, and I'm the poster child so I shouldn't throw bricks, but some people just don't like associating with people. Some people are just shy. And some people are just so arrogant that they think you owe them a living.

And Prince is all three of those things rolled into one.

But who cares, in all honesty? Let's just sit back, enjoy the music, and be fans.

It really shouldn't matter if he bothers to speak to every Tom, Dick, Harry, Billy, Frank, or Sam that he see's. It should just matter that his music and live shows entertain us.

But that's just me.
