Why doesn't Prince talk or reply?

I've been wondering for a long about the fact that Prince almost never replies or talks to everyday people..Though I've once tried to answer, looking back to my responses, I wonder and realise that it's really a strange reaction that Prince still has towards fans or people who try to talk to him..

Even "bonjour", "hi", "hey", he doesn't dare says "hi"..

Is he shy? passive or just impolite?

Is he protecting himself, or does he feel superior to any one who speaks to him?

Will Prince ever touch the ground as a person being part of mankind?

Does his religion tell him to behave as a superior to any other?

I wonder what do you think?

Shy AND impolite, but usually not at the same time.

Is he protecting himself, or does he feel superior to any one who speaks to him?

Mostly proctecting himself.

Will Prince ever touch the ground as a person being part of mankind?

No. But honestly, how many stars did that?

Does his religion tell him to behave as a superior to any other?

Not that I'm aware of, but it could be. I don't think Prince would listen to that though.

Just my twocents

You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

Opinions obviously differ wildly about Jehovah's Witnesses, but I don't think anyone could seriously argue that they're not friendly, particularly given that a fundamental principle of the religion is to go door to door, talking to people about their faith.

My money's on shy - "hi" might be harmless, but a response tends to invite further conversation. Imagine if everywhere you go, everything you do, every day, every night, you have strangers quietly (or not so quietly) desperate to start a conversation with you.

Maybe he's impolite, maybe he's arrogant, but I think the overriding factors here are him being shy and maybe a little fame-weary.

I think some of you are being a bit harsh on Prince.

First, we have to consider what kinds of words Prince is used to hearing at least 15 hours a day, every day of his life.

Words like, "Yes, Prince." or "OK Prince." or "Anything you want, Prince." or "write me an album, Prince." or "Let me put my hand on your kneee baby brotha" or "yes, yes, yes."

He hears these words about 99% of the time from everybody he comes into contact with. This means that it makes it very difficult for him to understand anybody who uses any other words. A sentence like, "Who were your major musical influences" simply uses too many words he's not familiar with hearing in confusing combinations. It's putting too much strain on him..

Yall need to be more considerate.

He's been Prince alot longer than he's been a Jehovah Witness, his religion isn't the reason. But, as far as the "not speaking" thing goes, it comes with the territory. I think that even if he wanted to speak to people, there's always those that will try to take advantage of his efforts. I remember him interviewing with someone and saying that he use to be more open, but one of his fans (the reason why he doesn't care for the word) took it too far and showed up at his front door. It only takes one to spoil it for everyone else.

Seriously, if he reads these boards and sees how insane much of his fan base is, he's probably afraid to talk to them.

There's about 10 girls on her who already think they're in, or soon to be in, an intimate relationship with him.

There are people who believe he's made some sort of pact with Satan.

There are people who believe him to be God.

This does seem to be almost unanimously supported by all who know him, or in some cases have simply had the opportunity to spend some time with him (thinking of the Peach & Black guys here).

In fact, when I think of the various threads about "have you ever met/spoken to Prince" etc... almost all of them are very positive and paint the picture of someone who is quietly spoken, but almost always polite and good natured - which is a fair effort, as the moment he has a bad day and is rude to someone, you know it's going to make it onto a forum somewhere.

Prince strikes me as incredibly self-conscious and pretentious. It's as though he wants to be interesting by playing different characters he has created for himself, such as the cool, jive-talking funk-rock star, the comedian, the holier-than-thou intellectual, etc..My suspicion is that maybe, deep down, he's a fairly conservative, slightly nerdy OCD midwestern musician who wants to be seen as a badass and who is really insecure, which stems from his troubled background. I also suspect that his arrogance is merely bravado to give off a pimp, funfsta vibe and that he'd actually rather be watching a DVD at home on his massive TV drinking herbal tea!

All I know is that I'd love to have a conversation with Prince. He'd definitely make fun of me for my height though (6'4). I've been lucky enough to hang out with my favorite musician for around half an hour and it was amazing. They are usually portrayed as a shy individual but he was quite open and fun to chat with. I hope I get the chance to tell Prince that his music changed my life and made me realize my calling (although he's definitely heard that before).

I think Prince has gone away from talking to people since most of them are like "some" of the orgers... why would he talk or reply to people who call him names?? Would you talk to me if I called you an asshole?

Prince probably knows what it's like for a fan to talk to their hero and it makes him shy. Also what is there to say when a fan knows so much about him and he knows little of the fan? The conversation is already lop-sided.

Add to that "anything he says can and often is used against him" and peoples' inablility to keep things confidential, he's probably very careful.

But he's obviously capable of normal "mankind" one on one conversations as he sat down with Peach & Black. We know nothing about his real social life and how he interacts with those he knows well , so he might just be the life and soul of the party with his friends and shy with strangers, which in my book is quite normal as a whole don't you think?

Good points but on the flip side, lets not forget that we have people in here who think he's just as bad as a murder or rapist. He's Satan to them.

I don't think Prince is a "devil" or a "God", because, my God is the "holy" Spirit" inside of me..

It's been a long time now that I have been following, supporting and enjoying Prince 's music; and as a human, watching, listenning to another human, I wonder.

I was surely very impressed when I saw him close and cold once, thanks to his attitude, I face Reality now and sees him as human as I am

I have got a cousin who works for the music industry, and he told me that he was in the same room than Prince and, my cousin wanted to say "hello", or "hi" or maybe "bonjour" but the man was so cold...

what I meant by "will he ever touch the ground as a person..", : we are all human beings; we have got the same color of blood, we are built the same..

Would he be less Prince if he was more opened and "friendly" to people who approach him?

I don't understand, really..
