The first London show, ONA tour. It was like an aftershow and less structured than the next two shows. Playing Empty Room and ending with All the Critics LY in London. Excellent stuff. Oh, and Days of Wild in the soundcheck... The DVD for that tour really was shite. It certainly didn't capture anything that I felt and witnessed.

Non-Prince - Basement Jaxx, 2005 London I think....

Paris 11 october 2009, my very first Prince concert (1/3)

It wasn't a perfect concert, Prince messed up 'Uptown' and the band wasn't in his best shape.

I recall Prince yelling out the French soundman for not turning up Frédéric Yonnet's harmonica.

(Prince let him play on his mic, followed by an awesome Controversy guitar play)

Furthermore songs like 'All Day, All Night, Girl, Cool, Y U Wanna Treat Me So Bad, Mountains' made it very special.

But all the magic came from the awesome venue 'Le Grand Palais' cool

Have a look at 'The W2A: Euro Tour Song Survey' http://prince.org/msg/12/362417

Best Prince concert split between Wembley Arena London Parade and last night O2 show and after show, the 86 show I was only 18/19, the place was packed with teens and twentysomethings, the place rocked from front to back, oh to hear HEad live again smile

The O2 was a more sophisticated Prince but just as enjoyable, my daughter wore my 86 tour T shirt which got a lot of looks, sure as hell wasnt gonna fit me!!

Best other show was Allanis Morrisette, jagged little pill, fantastic.

To be truthful, never been to a Prince concert as HE HAS NEVER COME TO NEW ZEALAND but the best I have seen here was an Elton John concert in 2008. Despite the fact he's over 60 and the song list included mostly 70s hits, the music was fantastic, he sounded great and his EJ Band featuring Nigel Ohlson and Davey Johnstone (His 70s drummer and guitarist), it was a brilliant show, everyone was dancing by the third number, Elton chatted freely, he sounded good and even did his piano leaps and all. He is truly a great show man, and his voice was spot on, he actually sounds like he does in his albums.

2nd best show was a U2 Concert in Christchurch, New Zealand in November 1989, it was electrifying and they played most of the songs off Rattle and Hum and some off The Joshua Tree and the Unforgettable Fire, in the days before they became self indulgent. I remember one of my friends, had U2 shaved into the back of his head.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

SOTT, june 14th 1987. Paris Bercy.

Standing in the 1st row, in front of the mike. I don't remember a fucking thing. Just glimpses. The opening distorted guitar filled the arena, so you can guess what it felt like taking it in the face. Saw the guy do the splits, jumping up and down for two hours, changing costumes so fast, so often, while singing impeccably, all guts out.

I remember Sheila E looking at me smiling and embarrassed, readjusting her mini-skirt, as she understood from my big-like-plates adolescent eyes that I just had a glimpse of her underwear, while doing the Mississipi Rap during It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night, not skipping a single syllab. It happened in a second, but it lasts a lifetime.

The whole arena was dancing. You can see it in the movie, same song, at the very end. This is not Rotterdam, believe me. I know for sure cuz I'm the young dude in trance on which the camera ends the panning.

The guy decided to shoot the U Got The Look video that very night, when almost everybody had left the building, including poor me.

So far...Teena Marie in Anaheim in 2002/2003? She sang for 3 hours straight, took requests...and left me breathless from dancing and singing! God, I miss her!! She had me in tears with her ballads, had my ass shaking with her funk, and I left feeling like I'd never witness someone so awesome again. As much as I love Prince, he plays by the numbers, and never really does anything spontaneous anymore. Teena had me wrapped around her yin-yang ringed finger!
