I don't see why people hate on it so much. Even if you compare it to other Prince records of the last few years it is good, I dont look at Prince albums like that though, I look at it as its own work, compare to everything else that came out that same week or so. I love it.

I agree with U 100%. Too many people want everything he records to sound like something from the past that they loved. That is not how creative minds work. People can not tell me that they would hate a job where you do the same thing over and over. I had a job once where it was never different. So you can imagine how someone like Prince's mind works. He is so creative that he can try different things, different sounds, go back to old sounds and mix them with new views and lyrics. Most of the people who have been fans for a short time can not keep up with this genius.

excapt even prince is trying to recapter that 80s sound. I was not impressed with this or the last secveral albums. Becasue they did nothing to me. To me is sounds like he is trying to sound like the 80s stuff. Prince said it best himself when he siad he only compeates with himself. In the case of 20ten that is a tall order that falls short.

Exactly! I think its because most of his fans here are of a certain "persuasion" they like the rock side of Prince better. They don't like the R&B side. It reminds them that he is black. So they tear everything soulful he does apart even if he chooses to pose for an ethnic magazine.... Its sad but true

i do not think that is a well founded statement, prince has always been a mixed bag of music styles. One could not still be on this ride and NOW like a little of each.

Oh please......only black people like R&B? And white only like rock? And what about asian or arabic people? What kind of music should they like according to you?

Last time I checked Prince has fans from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. And I really thought it was about the music, not about judgment on skin color.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Here is the thing, though. He has every right to try to sound like the 80's. Just as we have the right to either buy it or not. End of story... most people I know love 20Ten and sadly, it is not all Prince fans.

A steaming pile of poop.

But this is the last Prince album to date. So, thankfully, we'll be finished with these stupid celebration threads.

In all honesty, have you ever wondered WHY should anyone be interested in what YOU think about Prince's albums? I don't think you have.

Well thanks for your input. Sure it's easy to snipe away from the sidelines without getting involved. Or starting threads that get people listening to the music. After all it was the music that brought us all here in the first place - not his hair, or an open shirt, or who he was dating.

My intent (as stated at the outset) was to reflect on each album in the hope of generating a discussion around the music. Something that a lot of people are interested in. I mean even you got involved. And each day it was just one thread out of many new ones posted.

Why should anyone be interested? Well it seems many were interested and for some it helped them rediscover albums or help them figure out what to buy and what not to. But I'm not so arrogant to think my view is above anyone else's. It was just a starting point in the discussion, and a common place for those that wanted to share their views as well.

Sure it wasn't for everyone - clearly - but the day we stop being able to share our thoughts about the music is the day we should all stop being fans.

I enjoy your Celebration posts. cool

... am I the only one who thinks 20Ten is (feels like) a throw back album to the Purple Rain or 1999 Eras? MPLSoUND and 20Ten sound like a Part I and Part II of one another. The lyrics may be different but, the music IMHO sounds very 'close'.

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

I have been a Prince fan since 1979. I LOVE 20TEN! It is the only music that has played in my car for about two months. It is a fun release.

some people on this website need to chill out a bit...take things far too seriously....dont think anyone is saying 20ten is up there with his best work but it is an enjoyable album in his 80s style...

.

is stevie wonder still making great albums ?

is david bowie still making innovative albums ?

is mccartney still writing amazing songs ?

/

i would say that prince is making better music now than most if not all music artists who are 50 plus...bowie released a good album in heathen but his work since the early 80s has been very hit and miss....and mccartneys best effort of recent years has been chaos and creation...stevie...i couldnt tell you his last good album.....just making the point that i still enjoy his music...most of it anyway....he releases crap but then he released crap in the 80s as well....chill

U are so right on this statement....But these judgemental fans could care less. Prince is the only artist 50 plus putting out new music consistently non stop as he did when he was 19.

Well yeh I agree. Do others get the same scrutiny as Prince. If not maybe it's a back handed compliment-that if anyone can break the buck of diminishing returns it could him

Yep. On top of that, Musicology-3121-LotusFlow3r-20Ten are better than anything he released during the 96-03 years...
