Betcha By Golly Wow, yea or nay!

The video was so weepy. This was a fun period, because I thought for sure this was P's comeback period. He was on Oprah, was all over MTV, BET, VH1. I expected this song to be number one. What was I thinking? I guess the whole baby business creeped most people out.

I really love the song, beyond it being a Stylistics masterwork. I like the wawawawa sound at the beginning. He could have changed it a bit, but it works. The ending with the birds chirping is nice. Very well recorded. Emancipation was the loudest album I have ever heard..lol

Yea.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

I love his version of the song. The video is horrendous though. What's with the scrubs and stethoscope? Not to mention every other part of the video. It's hilarious.

One big fat.....NAY!

Really can't stand this song...Well to be honest, can't stand the whole album.

Just think this was the same guy who made...Prince, Dirty mind, Controversy, 1999, Purple rain, ATWIAD, Parade, SOTT, Lovesexy.... Emancipation is just lazy, simple pop music. There are a few good tracks(Holy river, somebody somebody, Love we make....)..the rest is just filler.

A very bleak period in P's music career.

yeah as it is so different from the original!

i am not a fan of any of his covers on CD.

I do not mind an occasional SHORT cover in a concert, but he does too many of them now (and too many instrumentals). But he does too many edits too. I rather hear 15 good full songs *with maybe a medley of another 5 to 10* and a short cover or two (MAX). And lay off the guests, If I wanted to see Ericka Bydue I will go too her show!

One of the very few songs on Emancipation that I actually like. Especially the "don't you let 'em tell you otherwise" bit.

biggrin I actually love his version of this song. Even though some say it is over produced-I thought his production of this song and TMBGITW worked. I think it's a matter of taste. (I know someone chimes in and says good taste, while others will say poor taste.) shrug

I like his version a lot and it's fine taking up space in an overly padded album, but it's a very shitty first single for said album, despite its effort to be an exact duplication of his previous bona fide hit TMBGITW

Stethoscopes are for doctors, not fathers. And everyone does not have to wear scrubs - only if there's a C-section in an operating room. It's silly. Admit it.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

This song is beautful, I LOVE it!!! It's # 6 on my playlist...That should say alot. I always liked the original, so was anxious, but skeptical to hear his remake. But once I did...hmmm, his voice on there was lovely. That talking part sounds sooooo good turned up really loud, in the car, while you're driving in the middle of the night on a deserted road!

I liked how he changed it just a bit to make it his and it worked. And wow, was he gorgeous in that video or what?!?!?! Heck, he was perfect during that Emancipation era and the music was superb! This era sealed my fate as a Prince fan forever!! I would love to hear him do more covers that equaled this lovely cover!!

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol
