Can I just say that not only do I LOVE Joint 2 Joint, but the entire Emancipation II CD is one of the best and sexiest ever, and completely underrated! What do you all think? I made my mom buy it for me for my 13th birthday...I think that scared her a little, but she knew my Prince obsession was already well-established. But Yes, Joint 2 Joint, and Emale, both super hottttt!

Yes! Emale --- even the music was sexy hot!

heart yes heart

One of my favourites of Emancipation. Original, intriguing and the work of Prince, that time (and critics) seemingly forgot.

Am I right in assuming this was a recording 'of the time' as opposed to one from the vault? It certainly sounds that way to me.

couldnt tell you but someone else might.

there seem to be a lot of his songs that get 'forgotten' over time

but maybe thats understandable seeing as there are so many of them smile

I don't think it came from the Vault. It has the same vibe of Sex in the Summer and White Mansion. Sort of a smooth jazz vibe under some really smooth easy going lyrics. Happy lyrics. Not hard rock, not nasty in your face sexy lyrics.
No I think this song is from it's time. Prince was really getting into the jazzy sound during thus time.

Now watch someone like Bart who really has the facts come in and just shoot my theory down. lol this is my opinion anyway so there! p

Joint 2 Joint is a masterpiece! What other artist out there could dream of composing a track from the sound of a brutha tap dancing? The tempo changes of the song are like going from one room to the next, until you get to the master bedroom and all hell breaks loose!

Don't u want to come , 3121. It's gonna be so much fun, 3121. That's where the party be, 3121. Y'all can come if u want to, but u can never leave!

During his genius-use-of-sampling days, IMO. "Sexme?" -"Yeah..."

Tap dancing thing, meh, but I do like this track. It was a grower for sure. reminds me of Bump Squad.

I like the way you put it. The tap dancing part don't move me like that, tho.

Anyone else digging the ending? The phone conversation and the mysterious sound at the very end. I don't know what he's trying to deliver here, but I like it anyway.

Such a brilliant song. It really epitomizes that quirky Prince sound.

This song is so fucking great, If only for the fact it has a tap dance solo.

In fact the stretch from Soul Sanctuary upt till Holy River on Disc 2 of Emancipation is flawless, absolutly flawless I tell the.

I don't know if it was a sample or the real thing... Savion Glover is dancing here, he's a famous tap dancer (He's in Spike Lee's movie Bamboozled).

the cows are for calves line is one of my favorites cuz its genuine and true .. i used to like the rest of the song too but not much on emancipation really has much staying power for me to be honest .. i especially like the tap dancer ... i forget his name but he was getting popular around when this record dropped ... and its a cool idea bringing all the different song forms together at the end so they are over lapping each other ... but a lil cluttered too almost works ... i also like how he delivers that line with a mouth full o cereal ... slave is my fav on that record and there are a few others that creep into my subconcious at times like dreamin about u .. jam of the year .. right back here .. my computer .. one kiss at a time ...
