What the fuck are you talking about? He lost her a hundred years ago, and he made all of his best music after her. This thread is idiotic.

She was a great muse and prototype, yet his mojo is still in full effect. She has an "it" factor that would have changed the dynamic and appeal of purple rain. Maybe Apples had an innocence that was better on screen to move the story forward and bring attention to the kids selfishness. Vanity had a tigress quality, and maybe it would be hard to see him playin games with her cuz she looks like she'd cut his ass. Most men struggle with the madonna/whore syndrome, prince seems to play it out through musical themes and the women he chooses to elevate to muse.

He started losing his mojo way after Vanity was out of the picture.

Nowadays his mojo is absolutely gone, it seems.

I wonder if his true muse may have been the twin sister lady after Vanity.

...... or was that Morris?

But seriously for whatever reason after 1988 things were different. Things are always different but this was diminishing returns different.

Are you kidding? His most extended period of awesomeness was when he was with Susannah - not Vanity.

^Absolutely true.

His frequent arguments with Susannah brought out the best in him (musically).

She was far smarter than him and wasn't willing to play the stay-home-doing-nothing-while-I'm-over-there-doing-everything rag doll role.

So it was an impossible affair. Hence the groundbreaking music.

That's nonsense, and you know it. She was around what...couple/3 years? Maybe 4? Not sure, but it wasn't long in the grand scheme of things. It was Susannah that inspired songs like "The Beautiful Ones", "Nothing Compares 2 U", "Adore", "Strange Relationship", "If I Was Your Girlfriend", and more, well into the late 80's.

Susan Moonshie was around longer and inspired great things like "When Doves Cry", and (I think) "Private Joy".

Vanity inspired what? Wet dream? Maybe? Vibrator? She was no long term, or great, muse in the scheme of things.

Now stop w/ the bait.

That's an interesting statement I kindasorta agree with. I can't name one song that he wrote about Sheila (although he wrote tons for her), so that kind of disputes the idea that she was ever his muse. However, I do think she inspired him musically in multiple ways. The music he created (or creates now) when she was in the picture always seems to be better, in my opinion.

He really lost it after Mayte. Look at him in the press at that time, he was actually happy. I think their divorce what drove him over the edge. He just went batshit after that.

Disgaree ... I believe every woman 'after' Vanity became P's muse. Mayte and Susannah were the strongest influences he's had in a muse and even Manuela had a few songs written about her.

Vanity had a serious drug problem. She was probably too high one time too many for Prince's taste so he replaced her with Apples. Don't know how Vanity would have been in the role but Apples sure had a better pair of tits.
