He really lost it after Mayte. Look at him in the press at that time, he was actually happy. I think their divorce what drove him over the edge. He just went batshit after that.

I think him going over the edge led to the end of that marriage. He went batty after the death of their child. Remember the Oprah show? "Everything's fine, he's(his son) fine". He was already dead. If I were Mayte, I'd have run for the hills too.

I completely disagree. I also believe that Vanity is totally overrated. I just don't see the appeal to be honest. I think Mayte was much more of a muse to him and perhaps Suzanna too.

Although I still don't fully agree, your last sentence got very close to the truth. I'd even consider this a very intelligent sentence if we were not talking about Prince and his music. clapping

prince was surrounded by many beautiful and inspiring women, further more they were in his presence to impress him both musically and romantically .. the competition played out like lennon and mccartney .. i dont believe most songs were written about any one specific woman but more of a mix of many emotions inspired by many experiences rolled into one artistic statement. many of the muse like women were decent if not oustanding musicians .. they may have seen prince as an accepting male in a male dominated business that would allow women to be creative .. prince was likely challenged to bring his best almost out of pride while many of the women/muse were out to prove that they could be equals in a male dominated business ... not just pay or famous equals but more important to all of them they were allowed to contribute substantially to the music. prince had the mojo back then and maybe some now but back then he had enough to surround himself with quite an impressive group of beautiful strong independant and talented women who were inspired by each other and prince .. i dont know anything about vanity but i think its safe to say there is a certain love in each persons life that can leave a person less open to most future loves .. that one early deep no restraint kind of love can certainly inspire music for the next decade .. i do think people like wendy and lisa .. rosie gaines .. sheila e .. all inspired prince in just as essential of a way as a vanity or a carmen electra or a suzannah or mayte ... i do think back in the 83 to 88 era there was a higher caliber of woman musician around and also more romantic intertwining as well ... sort of a free love hippie attitude with a new wave art pop look .. and with such a beautiful melting pot of energies the results were more universal .. where as lately the music feels a little more isolated and lonely

I kept reading articles about Prince "selling out" after Purple Rain. I was like "for real?" lol

That's nonsense, and you know it. She was around what...couple/3 years? Maybe 4? Not sure, but it wasn't long in the grand scheme of things. It was Susannah that inspired songs like "The Beautiful Ones", "Nothing Compares 2 U", "Adore", "Strange Relationship", "If I Was Your Girlfriend", and more, well into the late 80's.

Susan Moonshie was around longer and inspired great things like "When Doves Cry", and (I think) "Private Joy".

Vanity inspired what? Wet dream? Maybe? Vibrator? She was no long term, or great, muse in the scheme of things.

Now stop w/ the bait.

Susannah was not all of that....Vanity inspired a great deal of his music The Beautiful Ones, If I was your girlfriend etc...........Adore..........When she left, P was heartbroken..........When she married, P was heartbroken all over again.....Vanity(Denise) means a lot to him.............

This is completely false as far as whatever available documentation says: you could as well claim that Prince wrote Pink Cashmere about Morris Day while you're at it falloff. Read a few serious bios such as Per Nielsen's, Liz Jones' or Alex Hahn's ones, then come back so we can discuss whatever you wanna discuss.

Those are bios written by someone else. Basicly someone else's view of Prince's feelings. Prince didn't contribute at all to any of those bios those are other people opinions. Prince has been quoted himself saying everyone thought he would marry Vanity. Listen to Adore.............Listen to the Beautiful One's they tell the story of Prince and Vanity.............Listen to the Lion of Judah...........Strange but True..........Vanity is his muse.....his Life Force....they have a special connection still.................

Are you trying to just take the piss out of someone? I mean really. You cannot truly believe that's true. Vanity was nothing after she left. Name TWO songs that Prince wrote about Vanity once she left.

There's a fucking laundry list of songs that he wrote about Susannah even after they broke up. He dated Susannah from 1983(ish) until early 1987. He voice can still be heard on SOTT. I don't remember hearing Vanity's voice anywhere after 1982. NO WHERE.

You're truly a troll if you think any of those songs were written about Vanity. It's well known they were written about Susannah. "If I Was Your Girlfriend" directly points to how close Wendy and Susannah were, and how Prince had a bit of jealousy about the closeness twins have, so he said, "If I was your girlfriend, would you tell me?"

I'm tending to believe you're a troll just trying to get a rise out of people. The truth is known, and it cannot be changed. Believe what you will, but no one is going to feed your bullshit any further. There's your rise. Enjoy it.

If I was ur girlfriend was written about Vanity. Based on interviews she did in the mid 80's. Vanity was in a store and she overheard a girl talking about her saying I know why Vanity didn't do Purple Rain..........and the girl's friend ask why? and the girl replied she was having Prince's baby! Vanity overheard this and she was about to go off on the girl, until Vanity's girl friend stopped her! That's were Prince gets that( If I was ur girlfriend) and towards the end of the song he talks about" how you dont have to have children to make love "...........that song was about the two of them(their relationship)
