It would be Last December if not for the nauseating JW "in the name of the Father, in the name of the Son" lyric.

I'll go with Avalanche.

It's not generically Christian. It's very specificially, as with 1+1+1=3, an assertion that there is no trinity (i.e., the Holy Spirit is not part of God).

I don't see the connection, Father & Son only adds up to 2

In most Christian denominations, 1+1+1=1. The trinity is seen as one God. Prince is saying, as are the JWs, that God is not a trinity. He's saying there's a father, who is God, and then the son, Jesus, who is separate. And the Holy Spirit is not a component.

ok but then what does the 3 refer to in 1+1+1 is 3?

Prince is saying math is simple. 1+1+1 equals 3, not 1.

maybe I misunderstood all along, but you may be right. I see the JW's do deny the trinity.

Of course if that includes denying Jesus's divinity then I think they are on to something,

It isn't. JWs believe that Jehovah is the one true God and that Jesus is a separate entity in subordination to Him in Heaven.

The whole 1+1+1 is 3 thing is just Prince making it clear to his woman in a wonderfully charming sexist way that if you wanna be with him, you'd better become a JW and ditch that feminist shit at the door. Serve the man, baby. rolleyes

how, specifically? I'm not saying it is not, just asking how?

In other places that does seem clear "her children in subjection to her and her in subjection to the wise one and the wise one in subjection to the one true god" though the wise one could be Jesus if JW's consider Jesus separate from "the one true God," in which case I would suggest it is not sexist, but simply religious

"Ain't no room for disagree" is basically saying, "Your opinion doesn't matter. Only mine does." And I think a lot is implied by "there's a theocratic order" in the song. I don't think Prince means it in a traditional sense. He seems to be saying there's an order of God>Man>Woman>Children.

The Wise One can't be Jesus because it's clear he's with the woman romantically. Unless I'm reading the song wrong, the Wise One is Adam. When the woman, Eve, is "assimilated," she and five others are banished (I presume the Wise One, Cain and Abel, and whoever the two others are...presumably one of them a female so the human race can begin through biblically condoned incest).

Oh, I forgot about Dance 4 Me and Chelsea Rodgers (She Loves Me 4 Me isn't doing it for me), you can add those too the list. I'd still leave F.U.N.K. first though.
