This would be more of a musical comedy,as opposed to a "serious" drama.However,the plot involves record companies,so this will give Prince the opportunity to insert a subplot about the 'evil' ways of the record labels. The last installment of Rocky was well done, he took his time with it because he was embarrassed by Rocky 4 and i'm sure Prince isnt proud of GB and the fact it is considered a sequel. Whether this is true or not, i like the central themes and given the fact that Prince has endured commercial alienation his imput could add great depth. However i would incorporate some of the stuff that i read here like the old band, bitterness etc. For a twist i would make that social worker apples but with a new qualified actress in her 40's and still hot. I would also introduce an offspring from that union who is close to getting signed and refuses to market himself as Prince's son. Prince is conflicted, proud but protective and ashamed that his lack of a relationship is the reason the young man wants no part of being known as his son. There could be humorous situations like walking in on the kid playing guitar hero and realizing that Wendy and Lisa were lovers and did a lot of TV work behind his back lol | |

Credibility of this rumor (this is just a rumor @ this point) I don`t know. Potential for what it could do, yes. Do not forget what Prince considers to constitute a movie,ie; Sign O The Times, Lovesexy Live, 3 Chains of Gold, even as recent as Live @ the Aladdin.
But look @ the possibilities. Movie + album + US tour = potential mega hit. The Biggy Small movie had sleeper success & would have done much better if it had not an R rating. The supposed story line sounds reasonable. But look @ it this way as well - Prince is not ur usual hip hop act of today. If successful, it could influence the music industry landscape we are all currently drudging through. If for any reason I would hope that Prince was not bsing all those times I`ve heard his lets change the world ideas (reference the Kevin Smith interview). But heres hoping for a good thing. I would love to experience something like this since I was only 4 when Purple Rain came out. Prince is a different man than he was in 1984. Its not that I would love to see him @ the top ( which of coarse I do), its that I see what it could do for our times. Who else got U head bangin & thumpin ur ride @ the same time? It would be good for the current musical climate, it would be good for the African American youth, it would be good for our culture. Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird. |

If any of this movie stuff is true, it may be due to problems with his finances. And maybe he is delusional to think that he can forever go deep into the Purple Rain piggy bank that once fueled his purple whims.
Prince like most folks that over extended themselves over the years is just going to have to find a nice apartment in a rent controlled district and could live more than comfortably for the rest of his life. I think he is still too young to qualify for one of those assisted living housings. Nothing wrong with tuna sandwiches and basic cable. I am sure the neighbors would help him to better gauge how a song like Purple & Gold would go down before airing to the general public. [Edited 3/24/10 18:14pm] | |
