how bout he doesnt have to compete with anyone cuz he read his own interview back about the lie and the illusion and the imaginary walls people put up, like mass induced hallucination via the illusory notion that fame and mass media aren't already well and truly exposed for what they really are and therefore are entirely ova.

I would love to see a new concert movie. But please without acting. I hated even the small scenes in Sign of the times.

you know what prince should do as a film?

sit down in front of a camera, and be interviewd honestly, candidly, and without the riddled prince speak. talk about his favorite 15 songs. talk about his life, talk about his career. without going overboard and preachy, talk about his faith.

intercut those with him in concert. one night only, stripped down music, all the 15 songs he says are his favorites from his entire career. an acoustic, an electric, a big hit, and so on... some obscure, some big hits.

it would be great to see him let down the character he wants to play in the media, and just be down to earth and real. an intelligent and intelligble musical legend marking almost 30 years of brilliant music.

but someone else has to edit, direct, shoot, and such.

I think the Rock-Doc from 1988 which we all have seen footage of would have been like this. It's a shame that it was never released in full because the footage that is seen in the Omnibus special is fantastic.

i dunno, the more prince talks the less i like him. His music is hot, but he reminds me of the crush i had on Tyra Banks and how hot I thought she was.....until i heard her speak. ruined everything.

same here. but if you peel off the mask and get him to be real and interview him for a few hours, it'd be good for 10 minutes of film interludes.

You say that here, but in another window you're pre-ordering the DVD from Amazon!

i bought cherry moon and graffiti on dvd. i also have 3 editions of plan 9 from outer space, 2 of showgirls, and the room is probably my favorite dvd for the last several months, which i went out of my way to find because it is the citizen kane of shitty movies. i can quote entire sections of those 3 because i have watched them so many times.

so, yes... i would buy this, because i like laughing at shitty movies when i am high, not because prince is even a mediocre writer and/or director, or because i am a rabid fam.

as a fan, i think it is a terrible idea. as a fan of shitacular movies, you go on, prince... work your cinematic magic.

What a terrible idea for so many reasons.

If this film ever does actually happen, no doubt there would be a 'love interest' sub-plot, and like so many other middle-aged and older male main characters, his love interest would be some barely 21 year old twit (perhaps she'd be the catalyst to help him reconnect with today's younger audience blah blah blah) :eyeroll:

I do agree that if Prince would allow professionals to write and direct, this film could be interesting and and a great idea.

(never gonna happen, tho, imo!)

it's a shame he is too much of a control freak to let it happen.

Is this a recent picture of Prince? If so, he looks better than he has in years. The thicker mustache reminds me of his younger look.

Once again, the movie will touch on his own experiences. The ambitious character he played in the original, "The Kid," is now a famous 50-year-old, with no record contract and forced to compete with younger artists in an unrecognizable music industry.

The plot definately sounds like it's right up my alley but I doubt the movie will ever happen.

I wonder what could happen in this movie? hmmm let's see...

I think,in this film,The Kid should be married with a kid or two.

but an old girlfriend from his past (Apollonia?) comes back to town. Will he be able to resist her?

will the Kid and Morris be battling each other again??

lol

Even Prince knows that Grafitti Bridge was'nt anywhere near as good as Purple Rain so if this report is true i'm sure he's capable of nailing the mo fo, he's also capable of getting an Oscar since he already has one.

If its true, lets all view it with an open mind, i for one am gagging to see Prince in a new film,, its long overdue.

Just remember people just coz a lot of you think his recent output hasnt been that good that dont mean this film if it happens will instantly be shit.

A few weeks after they start shooting the financers will back out. Prince will end up blowing up all his own money on it, then end up as a beggar on the streets of Minneapolis...

... seriously speaking, he should try acting a small roles in a few serious films. If they did do something like this as a small budget indie film with realistic content, I would be all for it. Seems like hoax news though.

Why is everyone so keen to knock this idea before its even started why not wait and see - I for one would be interested to see what he comes up with and as I have said many times before I feel it is rather misguided to underestimate Prince, never underestimate him he could still surprise us all !!!!

here's my idea for the new movie.....

THE NEW REALITY starring Prince....

In the new movie,The Kid is a famous rock star living in Hollywood. He's wealthy, lives in a huge mansion, and throws lavish parties for his celebrity friends, including Morris Day,who lives nearby. But his life feels empty. He feels like something is "missing".

He and Morris return back to Minneapolis for a benefit concert, and they both realize that things have really changed. The city is run down, taken over by gangsters and criminals, and the people there are sad and have given up.Prince runs into an old girlfriend who is now working as a social worker.Prince discovers that he is still in love with her,but she is bitter. She feels that Prince abandoned her for the fame and fortune of Hollywood. She's still pissed at him.Morris meets an old flame who shocks him with the news that he has a teenage son!

A subplot involves The Revolution.Prince and the band are reuniting for the benefit concert, but they haven't played together in YEARS.There's alot of hurt feelings and bitterness. Can they work out their differences? Will it lead to a full-fledged reunion? Is it even possible to go back to the way things used to be? Much of the movie will revolve around this question.

Can The Kid and Morris liven things up in their old hometown? Can they rebuild a town that is falling apart? Can they battle the gangstas and all the negative influences? Could this be the "mission" that the Kid needs to accomplish,in order to feel good about life again? Will Prince's old girlfriend finally forgive him,and possibly love him again? Old lovers, old bandmembers, familiar surroundings, but an entirely new reality.

seriously,I think a new film would inspire Prince to make an incredible soundtrack. He would bring out the heavy artillery! Maybe he could re-work some of his best outtakes from the past, and create a stunning masterpiece??
