Man, ppl hate this song so much, it hasn't even been mentioned in this thread! I looove this song, I think it is right on in painting the sonic picture of how fucked up he felt at the time. The creepy music, his voice echoing as if he is singing to himself in the empty church he is pictured in front of on the cover, the stark lyrics, and of course at the end: "my... name ...is... no one..." hot damn, that is a great song! They are not necessarily songs no one else likes, just ones that are somewhat underappreciated. I remember when I initially purchased Sign 'O' The Times on vinyl in 1987, the tracks that stood out immediately were "The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker" and "Starfish And Coffee". I recall that my friends weren't that into those songs at the time, and apparently, neither was Prince: he elected not to include performances of either of them in the "Sign 'O' The Times" movie.  | |
