I agree with you Jethro-I have never compared MJ and Prince and never understood why they are in the same sentence but Londonstyle are you just a wind up merchant, you had your wonderful insights and then throw it back at others that we don't want to see facts. and does your face look like the laughing face coz smug is a very slappable quality.

It's because they were/are/have been the biggest icons in "Popular" music in the last 30 years....guys like Prince and Micheal Jackson don't come around again ....you get one chance to see that talent ....that's it! One! cool

Prince was saying that MJ doing 50 concerts, was him(Prince)not offering all he could. He saying that he would have done more if given the chance. As for his closing remarks on MJ, Prince and Mike were friends and cool with each other. There was no beef except the ones that their fans and media created. They even hung out with each other at times. Prince just probably feels that the media should let MJ rest in peace instead of drumming up controversy!

The O2 comment just reads as competition against MJ (which Prince would have lost)
Comment on singing the MJ song sounds more like a snub-a good song is a good song, when the question was was it given as a tribute
Comment on MJ's death sounds like a typical statement-he's not saying MJ was someone he loved he is just saying that it is sad for those who lose someone they love.
I don't think for a minute Prince dislikes MJ but I dont feel these answers indicate the opposite

exactly....i did not want to get into that or make mj fans feel bad but i guess we needed to spell it out for themgo figure

now...let us discuss the limp, the cane, the sitting down on the stool

Firstly the fact that no one on the org put Michael down is the biggest load of junk I've heard in a long time. Secondly, referring to the bolded statement.

So the fact that MJ fans come to the org to appreciate Prince is not viewed as positive, hey Prince has more fans. But rather, "God, they stay too. And we need to spell things out for them. Refer to comment one for my thoughts on that.

The fact that Prince mentions MJ and the O2 before the reporters say anything about Michael, shows that MJ is on Prince's mind for one.

That he refers to his singer Elisa as being a similar stamp as Michael (who also started singing at 6 and performed on stage at 11) is another clue that he has recognises a similarity between Michael and her, which means he has again thought about MJ.

In answer to the loss of the King of Pop, why should he expand upon his feelings and thoughts. He said it's hard when you lose someone you love. What else is there to say? That's the truth.

I like Prince's thoughts of the anti-tyranny symbols. Questions like Jimi Hendrix's creativity arising from a cash hungry corrupt CEO, Media being controlled by the state, balance, purpose, MJ's music being good music" etc etc.

Is Prince really American? He seems so broad minded and open razz

Surprised by what Prince said or how I worded it? In case it's the latter. Let me rephrase.

What I meant was, I find the fact that Prince actually mentions Michael's 50 concerts for his big comeback as being something Prince could actually learn from is a sign of respect to me.

Not your response, but Prince. Sorry my post wasn't clear. Prince surprised me by speaking about MJ (and specifically saying his full name) without being provoked by a question first. That's never happened before.

Not really a huge MJ fan, though sad he died so young and was always surrounded by controversy. My point is, however, why fill these forums with conjecture over Prince's "feud" with MJ or his feelings? Only Prince knows the truth - pardon the pun. Surely, we're here because we love Prince and his music, the Prince vs MJ thing is getting tired now, let's focus on happy things?

Peace ..... and be wild.

This is the Prince that I've always loved. He seems like he's in a good place. I've always viewed the name change, corporate fight, "slave" period and emancipation as a fight to preserve his artistry in such a brutal soul-sucking business. Sure, there's been creative failures and business missteps, but compare him to other 50-year-old artists with 30 years in the music industry and get ready to get bored to death. I love the journey.

Prince’s 21 Nights In London

And the funky one wants to duet with Amy Winehouse

14:25, Tuesday, 8 May 2007

Prince announced today (May 8) a 21-date London residency kicking off in August, and told journalists he wants to perform with Amy Winehouse.

Looking as sharp as ever in cream suit, purple shirt and black sunglasses, the pint-sized legend " responsible for the smash hits Purple Rain and U Got The Look - held a press conference at swanky London members club The Hospital to reveal the dates.

Last time I was here a lot of people didnt get to see me, he told reporters, so I wanted it to be more affordable this time. They will be his only shows in Europe this summer.

Appearing in a private room draped with purple curtains, he also divulged plans to cover the Winehouses Love Is A Losing Game - and admitted he wants to perform it with her saying: "I'm a big fan".

Prince also said that he had been rehearsing 150 songs for the tour.

Prince, formerly a squiggle, will kick off the London leg of The Earth Tour with seven nights at The 02 Arena (formerly the Millennium Dome) from August 1. But what he didnt mention was where the remaining 14 nights in the capital will be held - hopefully theyll include a few more intimate venues.

Tickets for The 02 Arena gigs will set fans back 31.21 and will include a free copy of his new album- they go on sale this Friday. Take note Madonna and Barbara Streisand...

Dates:

The 02 Arena: August 1, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, 14
Plus 14 further London gigs " venues to be confirmed

Yeh-I could be wrong but I always as did the press at the time interpreted that as a mix of venues across London. There were news articles that he would do more intimate gigs across the capital interspersed with the O2 gigs-that's why the above article ends with "Venues to be confirmed"
