Fact: Michael was publicly accused of child molestation twice.

Fact: Michael died of a drug overdose. Whether administered by himself or someone else, he had an apparent history of drug abuse. You don't just develop a knowledge of all those high power anesthetics over night, and from all reports he went to great lengths to get them for a number of years.

There is no honor in the way he died.

He is only now being so widely 'worshipped' in the media and by Joe Public because he died.

Even six months ago he was just the butt of a lot of jokes about his appearance, his fondness for little boys, his speaking voice and mannerisms.
He was a parody of himself. (Much the way Prince is becoming/has become.)

He wasn't known for music or dancing prior to his death.
He was known for his shenanigans, baby waving, face mask wearing, plastic surgery obession.

The best thing Prince could do is stay as far away from this as he can.
He should not affiliate himself with Jackson any more than he already is, as people have enough opinions about his own penchant for cross-dressing, and public persona.

He doesn't owe Jackson anything.

Sorry, somebody had to say it.
Seems a lot of you people jumped on the band wagon when he died and forgot what you were thinking and saying about him even a year ago.

clapping And, there it is...

However, If Prince were to pull an MJ song out of the hat...He could ROCK the SHIT out of Dirty Diana music
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Some of y'all need to stop being so hateful. Prince doesn't care what anyone thinks anyway, especially not his fans lol. If he wants to do the tribute then he will. I have to say though that I will be shocked if this turns out to be true. Regardless of the ongoing rivalry between the fanbses, Prince and MJ respected eachother at the end of the day. I've heard Prince say nice things about MJ before and it's obvious MJ was a fan since he went to see him several times in concert and asked him to duet on "Bad". They were two of the biggest male stars of the 80's and certainly two of the most influential male artists of the past 25+ years. They were peers like it or not.

I've heard several times that Prince was a Jackson 5 fan growing up though and I wouldn't be supried if that were true. They made great music and a lot of it was funky. I could definitely see Prince being a J5 fan. That's why I hope if this is true that he would cover a Jackson 5 song and not an MJ song. Songs like "Billie Jean" need to be left alone. I don't want to see anyone covering it because no one can touch MJ's version just like no one could ever do "Purple Rain" justice, so leave that alone. It would be great if Prince did a Jackson 5 or Jacksons song however. I'd love to see him perform something like "Dancing Machine", "I Am Love", "I Wanna Be Where You Are", "Got To Be There", "Never Can Say Goodbye". I think Prince would also do well with something like "I Want You Back". Him doing a Jackson 5 song is the way to go. It would be awesome! I hope it happens.

lol Sorry this is as funny as when some MJ fans call Prince weird. Hypocritial much? I love him, but Prince hasn't exactly been burning up the charts for the past few years. A Prince fan calling Michael Jackson a hasbeen is absolutely hillarious to me.

One thing I notice: it seem to be the MJ-fans in the first place that almost 'demand' Prince to give Michael some hommage.

Why?

Why should Prince do that? Does he owe MJ something?

Do you live in some 'Disney-like' mindstate or something? Everybody should be nice, respectfull and loving to eachother. Prince should praise and pray to Michael, the make-believe saint in your mind? get a fucking grip, please

No one thinks Prince owes MJ a damn thing. He obviously doesn't. He doesn't have to do shit to pay homage to him. Did MJ fans write this article afterall? No, so what the hell. Some of you are very hateful and bitter for no reason.

As I said before, Prince DOES NOT CARE what any of you think period. He & MJ respected eachother as artists and that's all that matters. He will do what he wants regardless and if he decides to take part in this then oh well. Bitching and complaining isn't going to change anything.

According to the World Music Awards, they are letting it be known they are in talks with Prince to do a tribute performance to Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson will be accepting an award on her brother’s behalf.

We have not heard anything on our end about Prince performing at the Award show, let alone doing a tribute to Michael Jackson. The award show is not taped until October but is taped in Monaco where Prince is slated to perform next week.

Is the World Music Awards that big? Surprised the MTV Awards, American Music Awards or Grammys have not been trying to get Prince to perform a tribute on their shows. MTV will most likely tap Chris Brown to do it.

We will let you know if we hear anything about this Purple Rumor.-Dr.FB

This would be one of the weirdest things I've ever seen in my life, IF Prince does it.

Though I see the truth in this. It seems to me that this is the way of most of the great legendary artist in history. I guess a few died "honorably" with reputation intact.

ACTUALLY MJ opened the door for Prince AND ALL black artists at MTV. and MJ was proud to do that and he even mentioned Prince in his last interview. I think they had alot more respect for each other than some of you people think.

I think U will find that Prince opened the door for MJ on MTV.

MTV was predominantly a rock orientated station back then, 'Little Red Corvette' only got play cause of the nature of the song, if MJ didn't come so big, it's unlikely P would have got regular airplay again.

Michael forced MTV to play a wider range of Black music.

That might be true, but a lot of your fellow MJ-fans seem to keep whining about it. It just gets very annoying and irritating: like Prince has to furfill their fairytale fantasies about some 'mythical age' were Prince was competing with MJ (in their own mind, that is).

This is the only "argument" I hear from MJ fans. I don't care at all about charts. It's about the music. And what Prince does live onstage is marvelous. He is in a league of his own, and no one can fuck with him. No one can be compared to him. No one. That's why I'm still a fan, prince the live musician.

If anyone is 'snobbish' here it are the MJ-fans, who keep demanding Prince should do a hommage to their 'leader'.

Since MJ died his fans seems to have lost their mind: mistaking a great entertainer with a great artist, demanding people to obay their deceased cult leader, living in fairytales, instead of using their common sense.

With regard to the "James Brown argument" ... it does not hold a second upright 'cos If my memory is good Prince paid homage to James throughout his career.

Prince hasn't wanted anything to do with that media circus and why would he want to hop into the center ring of it now. Prince might be weird but Michael Jackson was a weirdo! They never had anyhting in common in life and they aren't going to develop some ethereal trandescent symbiotic bond from across the grave.
When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

If it was a tribute to Miles Davis....
