I have always been more curious about what took place around 2005 with Mani and Prince. 2004 they look all happy together in many a pic. Then in 2006 she uncerimoniously dumps his butt. Since then, exept for a snippy remark about his view on homosexuality, she seems to never mention his name. To go from fan/ some say stalker to walking out and never looking back means to me ALOT of crap went on.

You guys have to look at the circumstances. Mayte was a teen when she hooked up with Prince. She didn't really know anything about his reputation with the ladies. Plus what girl wouldn't want to think that she is the one the man is changing his ways for, assuming she did know about his cheating heart. Also, when the baby passed it was pretty much down hill from there. She was left alone to grieve, he went looking elsewhere. I won't say she didn't cheat at all but if she did, she did it after him and he pushed her to it. All in all, ole dude didn't do enough to save his marriage IMO. Que Sara Sara.

I feel for Mayte given her age and the publicity surounding her pregnancy and then to have to go public with the loss, Yikes. Also all reports say that Prince dealt with his own devistation by pulling away from her instead of closer. Now Mani I am not feeling so bad for her. Everything I read makes it sound like she was a bit manipulative and liked to play him. Being passive aggressive to a control freak doesn't sound like a recipe for success.

I disagree in this respect. Prince invited all of his fans to share in this wonderful thing (marriage) and this beautiful person who had become his wife. He put her onstage with him, sat her down with him on Oprah and other interviews, had her choreograph videos. She very much became part of his purple world that we all love to traverse. I met Mayte during the time that Carmen was garnering all of P's attention. She was genuinely a sweet, down to earth person. I thought she was good for him and have always wondered what went wrong.

Just a thought; I remember in the Dorothy Parker song P saying something about likeing a woman that can think on her feet. Given her age vs his maybe she was not that intellectually stimulating. Who knows. I do think that if rumors are correct he could have handled the baby's death better than he did. It seems that when other famous men marry teenagers the men are quite protective of these girls and try to buffer the glare of the spotlight.
