Once more: That is DEFINITELY Prince. I guess not many have heard his natural speaking voice. He does sound different in TV interviews, etc, but that's him on the phone... NO DOUBT.

Yup.

The phone can make your voice sound a little different than a TV mic so I think that's throwing people off. The phone connection wasn't great. His vocal pattern is EXACTLY like Prince... because it IS Prince. lol

His natural speaking voice? So are you saying that in interviews like the Tavis Smiley on, he's using a "different" voice? That doesn't add up to me.

Many people sound different in formal settings than casual settings. If I'm giving a speech in front of 100 people, or talking in front of a judge, I often use a much deeper voice than I use if I'm having a casual conversation on the phone.

When Prince was on Tavis, he was trying very hard to give a particular impression. It was not only reflected in his vocal tone and pace of speech, but in what he said, and how he formed his sentences. He was trying hard to be "Professor Prince," which is why a lot of his sentences were rambling and never had any logical conclusion.

This was Prince in a closer style to what he might sound like if he's calling up Sonny T and telling him to come on over to the crib to jam. IMHO he's always made a much better impression when he lets his guard down and talks more like this.

I'm now wondering if it's hard 4 folks 2 believe Prince is a part of this.

Prince does a boatload of stuff 4 charities, and most of it U never hear about... like Sinatra did 4 Billie Holiday, Civil Rights movement, etc, etc.

Anonymous and classy.

I just has NASA do a forensic voice comparison of the interview in question and a known sample of Prince's voice.

Just got the results...

Col. Hugh Jorgan - NASA Voice Recognition and Forensic Analist

Verdict: It's fucking Prince.

That 2, but all it really takes is an accurate ear 4 a voice.

If I hear a voice once or twice, I'll remember it 4ever. My aural memory and acuteness is extreme, and it helps with my music. I have spoken with him once on the phone.

Prince sold meat at his 3121 restaurant in Las Vegas. A vegan would NEVER do this.

And this is of course NOT prince's voice, that's quite obvious.

I have some of the radio interviews he did in 2004, and his voice is the same as on tv interviews.

That's not prince.

Close approximation of his voice, but the dialect is off. You can tell with the way his long "i" sounds are pronounced.

This is a Cali accent NOT midwest

For all those who don't think it's Prince, do you also think it's not Leno in the segment that immediately follows, or is it your theory that a fake Prince happened to get on the same show as the real Leno on the morning after Prince happened to be on Leno? (Or was that also a fake Prince on Leno last night?)

And to think I was bout to lose it with the childish banter in here whether it was actually Prince or not.
Imma leave it alone since Brian so eloquently and politely explained it all.
Just one add, the frequency spectrum in studios is better captured than on a Graham Bell spectrum of possibly 500hz to 8khz.

I've been a fan for years and Ithink it was one of the best interviews I've ever heard him do. Dude was just chill and it's refreshing to hear him just be normal.

Funniest part for me was when Tommy asked him to a Barbecue.
Prince responds (not verbatim) as long as you have a barbecue then adds to make sure there is mac & cheese. He exclaimed he was a vegetarian.

Tommy's other ? was if he could go places by himself; Prince responded not really & it depends where he's at but at this point he rarely goes out without others being around.

Cool dude, good supporting Mr Rodgers Neighborhood giving props to the show that raised us 70/80's kids.

Next time u betta recognize royalty when u hear it!!!
If u don't know u betta ask somebody.
