Just got back from Target...

...and now I have to get dressed for church! angel biggrin

Anyway-
The packaging is pretty nice. Cardboard sleeves with the pix from the website at each "world". The only difference is that "Crimson and Clover" replaces "The Morning After".

Enjoy! music

... and you know there were only three people in line? An old couple probably on their morning walkabout and some chick with a return. More for me. The time on my receipt says 8:01. Anyway, I get home and stick the CD in the computer to burn it to ITunes before I scratch it. cool

well it was reported that it would be 04:54, as it was labeled on the site.

did you check or are you just saying 03:19 because that's the download length?

Well, I just bought a copy and this older man was running down toward
electronics and he looked like he was heading toward me..I was like eek
then he grabbed the CD, I guess he thought it was going to be all out
when the store has only been open for about 2 hours. He grabbed one,
checked out in Electronics and zoooomed back down,,I assume he was going to be late for
work or something, but it was cool to see this gray headed gentleman get
his Prince on.. : cheese

Then I was talking to the young guy behind the counter because I didn't
even noticed the BIG sticker on the ground. brick
I was like that is cool, Do you have more in the back? He laughed and
said "no" and then told me sorry I already claimed that one. I said
you are going to want that when everyone has stepped all over it
with their dirty shoes, He told me; Yes, I can wash it off.
Then that is when I turned around and watched that older guy running
toward me...

Have a good day, I am heading to bed..long day at work...
ALL smiles and hugs :grouphug:to all that work the NIGHT SHIFT.

I had to go to 3 Targets to get mine here in Atlanta. One of them had the display. But what made me mad, was the manager at the Perimeter Target tried to dispute me up and down that the cd can't be sold to mew until TUesday.

This young guy rang up the cd and it wasn't blocked from the system to be sold. I told the two of them was an exclusive. THe young guy was rady to sell it to me but the manager wouldn't let him.

I wans't gonna stress on a Sunday morning. I just told them "ok, but people will be coming in to find the cd."

I went to the Traget down the street and they had it.

I love reading these. Here is my Target story from another thread:

Chesterfield Township, MI

I was in the parking lot by 7:40AM. I was surprised that nobody else was out there waiting but I'm not sure why! A few people rolled up before, though. I think two different people where there for some video game thing that must have been in the ad as well. One couple that I did not expect to be there for the Prince Cd were. It was actually in the front. I figured I missed on on being the first person so I said never mind and went into the back to pick it up there (same kind of display....must have had at least 100 copies out with both displays). Anyway, picked it up and noticed and browsed through the other music (didn't look like they had any other Prince stuff...guess since it's an NPG release and I don't think any other NPG albums are in print, might even be in his contract not to push the "Purple Rain" and "The Very Best Of..." Cds. And did anyone else notice the display on the floor? It's the "Lotusflow3r" cover with a flower cut-out right in front of the music display. It will probably be ruined in a matter of days, though. I took a picture on my cell phone but I don't know if I can send it out to my email without paying extra.

Also, the cashier kept looking at the CD and said "I like old Prince" and I said "One of the CDs sounds like old Prince". She kind of reminded me of the Target lady on SNL (played by Katherine Wiig?).

That is unbelievable that they don't know that! So it was out as it should be. If you got the time you should really write to them! It is right there in the ad (I believe). Any good store has all the CDs out with displays (my store only had the floor display that I noticed anyway). They wouldn't stock a product like that and say you have to wait. It makes no sense...and I'd really like for them to try to pull that stuff on some cranky old housewife!

Here's my story:

the Target opened at 10 am and I arrived at 10:05, I headed to the music area and a few Target ppl were changing the lotus flower picture hanging from the cieling and I asked why, they were kind of blocking the actual rack of the new albums, they said we have a better one and I looked at the one they were about to replace it with and it looked the same, I said can I have that old one please!! and they said no sorry, I said what about for a million dollars? They all smiled and laughed, one guy said do u have cash, I said yep, he said no sorry it's "licensed"

I said worth a try, and giggled to the counter, then behind me I peaked at what the customer was buying, sure enuf, 2copies of the Prince album!! (I thought should I buy 2, you never know)and the little girl he was with was so cute, saying that the target dog resembled a pit bull

I am so damnm happy right now thank you Prince

I love you!!~~

That was the issue, I had to ask them for the cd. There were no displays anywhere. Then the manager had the nerve to bring the sales paper to me and tried to show me that the cds come out Tuesday. I told him to check his computer and it will clearly say teh cds are for sale today.

He didn't and I started to get mad, but It's the Lord's day so I just left. smile

I wanted to go back and show him I had the cd, but I didn't have the time. It's such piss poor management.

Write them. You seem like a peaceful person, but this guy is doing such a bad job that he is probably hurting that individual Target (and I like Target even though I work at a similar store right across the street....no, not Wal-Mart). What a moron. He knows something like CDs come out on Tuesday but EVERY other store was made aware that this one was coming out 3/29 (even said it in the commercial, in the ads online and it's only heavily implied by the store ad). The reason for exclusives is not to get people just to buy the CD but to get them to buy other stuff....doesn't always work (I wasn't in a shopping mood that early in the morning) and his not allowing you get to the album makes you want to avoid that store! You should at least get a free gift card that meets or exceeds the price of the CD...(in which case you can buy another copy at the store down the street). And be detailed, especially about what store it was, what store you got it at and time wasted. I almost wish it would have happened to me cause I totally would have wrote, banned that Target, etc.

Dang it Mars, now I gotta copy and paste my reply on this thread too. lol

Aventura, Fl...

Okay, so I took my time getting there, (9:55am) and headed straight for the Lotus display to pick up 2 cds, (one for Kevin at work). I was feeling a bit excited but totally at peace for not having endured the stress of joining the website. The salesperson gave me the stank-eye because I asked for one of the displays when the promo was over. Oh well, the indie wrecka-stows always let me have 'em so I didn't see the harm in asking.

For anybody still wondering why the big box retailers love this sort of deal, I defy you to walk out of one of these stores with just the cds. I also picked up a floor lamp, some cute beaded sandals, and a bottle of drano plus some socks and skivvies for my son,

Then I threw everything in the back of the car, ripped open the package and put Lotusflower in the player. Ahhhh...heaven on earth! Both of the Prince cds are excellent. Even the Bria joint was better than expected although Prince still needs his ears slapped clean off the side of his head for daring to compare her to the queen that is Sade!

Anyhoo, I got home and listened again with my 21yr old son, (wearing his new socks), while I made him put the new lamp together, (since he's the one who broke the first lamp), He likes Lotus a lot, but he loves Mpls much better, especially Chocolate Box...Elixir, not so much.
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Exactly. I planned on going there and spending the 11.98 + tax and I ended up spending 48.53! Go figure! I have to agree with your son, MPL Sound is the shiznit! Only felt good with about half of Lotusflow3r but about 85% of MPLSound. I haven't even touched Elixer yet.
