I like your profile pic. I used that for an instruction book I had to make for a class....I forgot what it was about now....But it needed pics and to be colorful, etc.

Here's my story:

I live in the UK. We don't have Target, and no one knows this album is out.

Seriously, my friends are muso's and love Prince's stuff... they have no idea this album even exists.

Come on Prince, spread the love.

He spread the love quite a bit last time putting "Planet Earth" in the newspaper AND only playing the UK that year.

Thanks. I used it on the cover of my lesson plan binder last school year. The kids say it looks like me because I have a wide smile! biggrin

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Bought three at a LA target. The CD display was cool, I like the floormat. I asked the cashier if he had any posters or promos for sale. He asked me to leave my number, he would call me when the display is taken down.

Dang it Mars, now I gotta copy and paste my reply on this thread too. lol

Aventura, Fl...

Okay, so I took my time getting there, (9:55am) and headed straight for the Lotus display to pick up 2 cds, (one for Kevin at work). I was feeling a bit excited but totally at peace for not having endured the stress of joining the website. The salesperson gave me the stank-eye because I asked for one of the displays when the promo was over. Oh well, the indie wrecka-stows always let me have 'em so I didn't see the harm in asking.

For anybody still wondering why the big box retailers love this sort of deal, I defy you to walk out of one of these stores with just the cds. I also picked up a floor lamp, some cute beaded sandals, and a bottle of drano plus some socks and skivvies for my son,

Then I threw everything in the back of the car, ripped open the package and put Lotusflower in the player. Ahhhh...heaven on earth! Both of the Prince cds are excellent. Even the Bria joint was better than expected although Prince still needs his ears slapped clean off the side of his head for daring to compare her to the queen that is Sade!

Anyhoo, I got home and listened again with my 21yr old son, (wearing his new socks), while I made him put the new lamp together, (since he's the one who broke the first lamp), He likes Lotus a lot, but he loves Mpls much better, especially Chocolate Box...Elixir, not so much.

Exactly. I planned on going there and spending the 11.98 + tax and I ended up spending 48.53! Go figure! I have to agree with your son, MPL Sound is the shiznit! Only felt good with about half of Lotusflow3r but about 85% of MPLSound. I haven't even touched Elixer yet.

I know, right? I spent well over $100 in that place. lol

Ok just got back from getting my Cd's. I bought 3 off them. I usually only buy 2 copies of all his stuff, one 2 open, one 2 keep sealed in case It goes O.O.P and i damaged the previous. But i had to by 3 cuz it's affordable. My Roomie needs one lol smile.

but then i ended up spending almost a hundred dollars cuz i got sucked into shopping, had to get some blu ray movies, then some shampoo, and hair gel, and the we passed to food isles, and i was hungry so i started buying junk food. lol

Bought mine around 2 this afternoon. Went to the electronics department saw the signs for the album but the album was not in the electronics department. A worker found me a copy near the counter and told me the cd's were at checkout. Haven't listened to the cd's yet, ripping them onto iTunes. Excited to hear all of them.

falloff Oh God! I remember this debate!

Anyway, here's my story:
I'm in Grenada in the Caribbean,
no Target,
very very few closet Prince fans,
nothing Princely down here AT ALL sad
So now I'm patiently waitin to hear from an orger who said he'll see wat he can do (meanin he'll try to send one down for me).
If he can't, I'll have to ask one of my cuzins in NY to cop it and fedex it down for me.
I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

I got two copies at the Target in Van Nuys, CA around 2PM. Same displays as the one pointed by others here. I saw one female customer with a CD while I was browsing the CD section and when I was at the check out stand, a male customer behind me was also in line with a CD. Likewise, I ended up buying more stuff than what I came for-- mainly DVDs. I spent over $80.

I do suggest buying 2... or as soon as you get the sleeve home remove the cds altogether to protect the pacakaging. One thing I hate about this new covers is they don't last at all.

I LOVE MY CD! It was still strange buying a PRINCE CD at Target. The ambiance of a true music store was missing sigh I miss Tower records and im going to miss Virgin too. sad

Are you freakin' kidding me? This is the weakest packaging I've ever seen from Prince.

Pretty artwork and I don't spose we can speck much for $12 but damn, not a liner note to be seen. What's up wit dat?

I wouldn't give a shit if he just had a typed up piece of paper stuck in there but when I buy a CD I wanna know who's playing what.

This sucks.

As for the music, I've only been through Lotus Flower once and other than Feel Good etc. I'm not too impressed. Maybe other tracks will grow on me but I haven't been this unexcited by a new P disc since... well, since Planet Earth which I didn't even buy.

MPLS is on now and it sounds a bit more promising.

I'm not a hater so please don't attack me. I just prefer my Prince funky. If he never made a rock song I wouldn't miss it at all.

Different strokes for different folks but leavin' out the liner notes is an unforvigable sin in my book.

I have to say that I'm impressed with the packaging for the music - it's very slick. Prince was not just trying to skimp or cut costs, not at all. When it was in my hands, and I looked at the back where the songlists were, I felt very much like I was holding an in-store album creation, if that makes sense.

When I got to the Target, they had a power outage, but the registers were still on (got to have that backup generator to keep them going, don't they?) I thought it was quite interesting - I didn't see the album right away, but as I walked towards the electronics section, and as I was walking past the registers, there on the floor was a copy of the lotusflow3r cover graphic!

Then when I was leaving the store, an employee was checking our packages like they do at CostCo. - he was a big ol' black teddy bear and he said to me, "So you picked up that new Prince." I affirmed and then said, "it rocks." He says back, "really???" and in haste, I told him that it was like a modern version of the 1999 album (ducking from the tomatoes ya'll might throw at me for saying this.) Cool experience.
