Million days - crescendos much the same as 3 Chains Of Gold and I Hate U

older songs - Lonely Christmas - the first time I actually listened to the lyrics properly, beforehand I dismissed it as a breakup song...
This is what it's like in the dream factory...

Interesting question!

I thought about it and nearly said FUNK but that wasnt so much knock you off yer feet stuff as surprising and a little retro - so therefore loveable.

I think black sweat has to be my choice as it seemed a return to his experimentalisation again, using unique unheard of before sound. Something he said himself back then on a Minneapolis radio show interview. Always looking for new sounds and locking stuff away in a vault on the advice of wendy and lisa if it had been done before.

Black sweat was difficult, wierd, unique sound-wise and i grew to love it.

the only line i dont like is scream like a white lady, i dont get that? but i can forgive its crassness for the music and the sound - pure prince!

I Will & Train, The latter especially. It's a crime that a lot of Prince fans haven't heard this absolute gem.

Ur Gonna C Me is a close one too, If there was any song that displayed Prince's superior song writing skills, then Ur Gonna C Me is the one.

Mine was actually 'Planet Earth' [the song]. It blew me away, the piano, the lyrics, the great guitar solo and the live feel.
Planet Earth for me too.

Look at it this way - you have a very exciting journey through Prince's music ahead of you.

In a way I'm envious of you - that excitement of hearing a new album for the first time can never be recaptured - and you have all that ahead of you.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

wave welcome to the purple party people

go buy everything prince has done and listen to it all, doesnt matter what order. dont get too hung up on when happend what said who did etc etc

just listen to the lyrics listen to the sounds - you're in for a musical adventure some lows, some scary bits, some euphoric highs, some humour and some serious thought provoking parts but best of all pure unadulterated funk.

happy adventuring!!

same here. His funk is nearly always at its best when he's pissed off and angry.
