Secrets Of Purple Rain

Purple Rain is quite actually Prince's trademark song. One thing that's not clear is it's meaning. Is it about a lover, heaven, a near death experience, a friend? Has Prince ever said what really inspired him to make the song? Was he wearing purple before or was that the song that changed his wardrobe? And I saw there's a secret verse to Purple Rain. I don't know if he everlet it out. Does anybody know the lyrics to it?

There isn't much of a secret. The lyrics are about what YOU want it to be, who cares about Prince's original idea? He already delivers the music, the voice, the words; you can do with it what you want, read into it what you want, but I alway thought it was quite simple; it seems the evaluation of a past relation that Prince is sad about and want to start again.

The missing verse is actually quite silly; he recorded the only known version of that live during a one-off show at 1st Avenue and he reworked that live song in the studio, re-recording some parts (the guitar solo, the outro with violins) and took out the part of him singing about 'I don't even think I want your love' and then goes off how he wants to go out and buy him some love.
Which was a good decision, as it took away from the power of the song and the rest of the lyrics.

i know that i am not saying anything new when i say that Purple Rain is a very Deep Song. In my opinion i think the best way to understand Purple Rain is to feel the song, music , lyrics. Regina Carma

I've heard that verse in two different rehersals, and one live performance (the 1st Avenue concert where the purple rain basic tracks were used for the album.

"No need to get snippy" should be put in your signature. It would save you a lot of time. And how is pointing them in the direction of an almost 2 year old thread going to help them? Seems kind of pointless to me.
