So let me enlighten you since you chose to "skip past" most of my comments. *ahem* I am a musician myself and have previously stated that I wish every artist to profit off of any material, be it music or video, that they create. Now in reference to YOUTUBE I am still pondering over certain aspects of that website. Concerts that were released for purchase "recently" should not be allowed to be viewed if one does not pay for them. Agreed. But the internet is something that is constantly evolving and changing the way people do "business". We all are trying to see what this metamorphis will bring to consumers and businessmen. My enjoyment does NOT focus on him doing what I want him to do. That is assinine. My point is as a MUSICIAN, PERFORMER, ENTERTAINER, ETC. we desire and want and almost thirst after people seeing our creations! It is not so much of a business thing! It has nothing to do with money perse'! We thrive off of people hearing our sound and thirst off the criticism. Prince being my bitch is a weak statement and all too simple. I am going off of his statements in the PAST that he made to his fans. I am not going to pull them up because it really would take too long. I DON'T need anything for free. I think Prince fans as I stated earlier will PAY for anything that he puts out as it becomes available. You see, sometimes people forget the joy of making music and get caught up too much into the business side of it. That is why I think his music is becoming IMO "controlled". I think he is becoming a prisoner of control. And that happens to many ordinary people. That is why there is some who suffer panic attacks and many other phobias. The over value control! No system is perfect in which everyone will prosper without some sort of loss. James Brown is dead and gone and I consider him to be one of the greatest entertainers there ever was. Yet, he himself still allowed his music to be sampled throughout the earliest stages of hip-hop because he loved the fact that kids enjoyed his creation. Later in years he was given the acknowlegement and credit which he thoroughly deserved from every hip-hop artist out there. He was patient. | |

i think he should allow officially released videos, television performances and interviews. i can't see anything wrong with that.
the problem with youtube though is that you literally need someone 24/7 to monitor the site because there are always folks willing upload unauthorized stuff. I saw old Dirty Mind, First Avenue and Musicology concerts up there before he took them off. i guess the most youtube can do is delete accounts but you can always create new ones from a different IP address. bitching and complaining, in a sense, is no different than praising and appreciating....both are derived from passion about Prince and his music...I can handle ridiculous bitching when it's not called for, over praising when it's not called for but when fans can't even have decent debates without totally dismissing others opinions, it's shitty to say the least...if somebody wants more Prince and doesn't know why they can't have it, that doesn't make them spoiled, it makes them a fan...if somebody is disappointed with some of his work or actions, that doesn't make them a hater, it makes them a fan...I think jojofran had a decent question but some of the responses were attacks rather than an opinion on the subject....nobody here is gonna agree on every aspect, but there could be shitloads more understanding that we all have our views... anyway, on topic, it would be nice to see more videos and have a more "open" Prince, but I take what I can get...personally, I'd like to see him kinda "disappear" for awhile, no recording, no touring...then come in a few years with something amazing and fresh...but that's just my view... | |

This is where I say I love you. To some people, Prince's music and/or persona is so important, logis goes out of the window. I got the same; I am mad about his 80's material and that sometimes taints my view of the 'Prince' in the present. I know it, I admit it. But whenever I give an opinion on how I view/experience his music, I realise there are people that love all the albums I hate. It's just too bad that people often kill discussion with rants and narrowminded bs. | |
