Uh, comparing Prince & Trent in the brains department, there is a clear winner. I need to hang out with you, you have all the fun!! mad

I met Trent years ago (1994 I believe) in a bar in Frankfurt Germany.
he was watching the openning act "Die Krupps" perform.

My life ain't all that much fun anymore. lol

when Trent covers 3 Chains..., he'll get all the props in the world from me, until then, the very fact that he conversed with you costs him valuable points...

did you tell him the batdick joke?

I can not believe people are actually scratching their heads trying to figure this out. Because prince has no say or control over youtube. Simple and plain, it doesn't take a genius to figure this out. We all know that youtube allows users to post what they want, if he doesn't want video's of him dancing around in his drawers up and running without his say then he is going to have it taken down, weather its a WB video or not. If he doesn't want you to see Lovesexy live 88 clips with out his permission then he will have it taken down. If people are watching James Brown, Michael Jackson and Prince all perform together and Mike sang and did a spin that almost broke the time barrier and Prince rushed the stage in a panic not sure how to follow that up.. chances are he doesn't want that clip up either and again, its not his site and he has no say over what is up and running without enforcing legal actions from his laywers, thats pretty much it. What else is it to figure out?

I appreciate your attempt to elab. But again, that makes no sense. We all are a product of our past. Prince "himself" said in many interviews that he WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING ABOUT HIS PAST. He says it was his "experience". So what you are stating goes without real substance except for the part about "control". You canot change the past no matter how hard you try. It is what makes you who you are today. Again, the videos and interviews were made for our viewing pleasure. Imagine if every artist followed suit! Better yet, Prince himself more than likely watches YOUTUBE to see vintage performances by the musicians that he champions such as Joni MItchell, Sly, Jimi, etc. Dig me?

Yo Chariot, he is a musician! Aight? Every musician wants their stuff to be heard and viewed! POINT BLANK PERIOD! Now if Prince were something else I would roll with what you are saying. If Prince where broke and hit the skids and others were profiting off the airplay while he was starving I would get it. You are speaking of him as if he was NOT an entertainer. It makes no sense! I've supported him for YEARSSSSS... Through his changes in format in music, style, etc. I even support his religious choices when people jumped on him about that. But I do not "understand" or "comprehend" a musician, performer, singer, entertainer, not wanting their work to be viewed! That is the whole reason for being in this industry. Not so much the money! We musicians crave for our work to be viewed and heard!

so at this point I am not sure what kind of response you want just in case I haven't given it already, I can't make sense out of Prince's actions for him, and one can only speculate at seemingly odd behavior. And it does make sense in a way if you are a person that sets out to control every aspect of your career and personal image, then it would warrant this kind of behavior.

yes there are a lot of us who buy his stuff, but there are so many prince fans that don't. think about it 15 million+ people use the internet to download music can you imagine how much money the artist is losing? i think if some of the other artist realized that, maybe they would do the same. however, i don't know how he could stop people from doing it anyway.

I understand what you are saying and respect your trying to make sense out of it. I just am changing my entire perception of him. I used to think very highly of certain changes he was proposing against the "machine". I am a very understanding person and want all artist to profit off of sales of their product. But I am not going to agree with something that is illogical. If the glove don't fit u must acquit! I am not really asking for a concrete answer from anybody by the thread. Just something different that I may have been missing all along. All I have gotten mostly is "well he just doesn't want to so respect that." I mean that's cool and all but it'll leave a sour taste in my mouth. I can't really even listen to his music nowadays without thinking of some of this mess. It really has the dust piling up on my Prince collection.

So I'm supposed to watch BET until it comes on? I mean I am not feenin' for it like a "fix" or something. I just think that you will promote "pirating" and "bootlegging" more by removing eveything you ever had previously done. I purchase music and support all artist. I buy videos off of ITUNES as well as popular music. You cannot control what others do to make a buck. I guess I'm beating a dead horse. I tell ya folks it truly is making me not care about anything more he is doing. I don't like to feel as if I am being given a rashion. I guess I am asking for a reason to continue paying money to an artist who really seems to not care about true fans.

just becuz he'z hooked n2 the standard approach of doing a video for songz doeznt mean music is meant 2 b looked at.

It's a matter of what time you come from. Un42n8ly, Prince feels the need to hold on to his much more than artists that came out in the 90s. I think that for all his work to undo what the biz does to its artists, he doesn't seem to understand that the less control he has over the finished product once it's been released to the world, the more it will get out there - this is what he once wanted more than anything - he even said, "what if we record a concert, then release 10,000 copies at $5 each, just to cover the cost of recording?

It raises the question that I raised in an earlier posting, which I'll reiterate - "it's all about the choices an artist makes regarding their music." It raises another question - even though over 3 million copies of Planet Earth were given out in the Mail On Sunday delivery, it was supposedly at the lowest bitrate that exists, and you still had to buy it if you wanted a good copy of it.

Prince seems to be more selective of what he wants to visually put out there these days, sure do hope he's found or soon will be with the one he's singing about in those videos. love2 heart

Hey Jojo..I've been a fan since 1979..and I have all of Prince's released material, and I don't have the music that was only offered online...and I wish I did...However, I have no interest in downloaded material, because I don't care for the sound...so I will wait.

I guess if someone has earned enough money to retire...they can treat their profession and retirement like a revolving door if they like...The truth is...Prince doesn't have to work anymore....anything Prince does at this point is for the fans that want to hear more music...and music to Prince...is not video's...that's an a la cart...as well as touring.

...because he becomes an unwilling addendum to the "content driven corporate website called youtube"....you know...a slave...now why would those of you who profess love and respect for your musical genius want to see him making money for a dumbass "user content" website? [meaning: either dumbasses videotaping themselves falling down or girls shaking their butts or MATERIAL OTHERS MADE BY INVESTING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND LIFE TO HAVE IT SUSTAIN A BAD BUSINESS MODEL THAT USES USERS TO USE THAT WHICH DOESN'T BELONG TO THEM. [that's a lot of use huh?]

Do not point to MJ and stevie and say...look they let it go on so it's ok...no...it is not....at best they are being exceedingly gracious letting the fans make money for a corporation that doesn't give a flying fuck about "creativity"...

Is it cool to see shit that has been unavailable...well, yes and no...

In MJ's case it is in his best interest to remind folks how amazing he is because THE SAME MACHINE FEEDING ON HIM TRIED TO KILL HIM...so he is hedging his bets..

.stevie and many others quite likely see the utility of a video site and don't see the downside...besides: YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT P HAS IN MIND AND IF YOU ARE TO SIDE WITH SOMEONE SIDE WITH THE MAN WHO GAVE YOU 25 YEARS OF HEART/SOUL/ABSURDITY/BALLS TO THE WALLS BOLDNESS/VISION/PAIN/JOY/AND GORGEOUS FUNKY SOUND....

GIMMEE A BREAK...THIS SITE IS HIS NAME...GET IT...HIS NAME...HOW WOULD YOU LIKE ME AND MY DUMBASS FRIENDS MAKING A SITE IN YOUR NAME TO TALK ABOUT EVERY.GOD.DAMNED.THING WE CAN THINK OF REGARDING YOU?...to the point where our bullshit takes on a life of it's own eclipsing the thing that gave it relevance?

oh..that's right: y'all made P...nah buddy...P made y'all...y'all the fans..remember...duh?

...we won't discuss copyrights and advertising residuals...

I would say stop being petulant dumbass morons and be impressed that the brotha is fighting for something worth fighting for: his works...you know?...the stuff you like listening to...or would you prefer making him your bitch?

Yo..p...get in here and sing me a sexy song in falsetto...I feel like being romantical...no...higher...you know...sexy....wear the buttless pants and show me some package...yeah...like dat...now do the pouty thing...you so sexy...uh...hold up..the simpsons are on...aight...go get a snack and then I think I wanna see you in panties and a trench coat...whattaya mean you're fifty and that ain't your trip no mo---I'm the fan-so I say what you do...I wanna see panties and trenchcoats and falsetto and humping...after the simpsons....oh cool looky my favovrite commercial..check this out man..it's really funny....

oh...prince...get the door the pizza's here...

fans are retarded and truly fucked in the head...
Yo P: burn it all to the ground if thats what you need to do....and for the way back machine and whatever you decide to put in tomorowland [whenever u r good and ready]: thank you...seriously...
thank you.
