Michael Koppelman, princes ex-engineer said it clearly : THE MAN AINT GAY!!
and he seemed convinced about it. He described moments where prince would cut out models out of magazines and actually meet them.

stop making wrong assumptions..hes not gay

I don't believe he's a closeted homosexual. Do I suspect he may be bi? Definitely.

I've recorded with Andre and Morris, two cats who KNEW P long BEFORE P became known. I've also known others in his circle. A few cats from Mazarati, etc. Point is, if P was gay or bi, not saying they would say it straight out, unless they were pissed at him. But they could easily drop little hints if they wanted without saying it directly. If anybody would know, it would definately be Andre. He was the probably the closest "male" to Prince in P's life. P has definately flirted with putting out a gay vibe. There's no doubt about that. But I believe it's in 3 stages. 1) P came up in a time when "pretty" men, cats with girlish looks, drove women crazy. The prettier u were, the more women wanted u. This was especially true in the 70's (teen idols, i.e Leif Garret, Shaun Cassidy and a group the influenced P's look during this period, Switch)and the 80's i.e. the rock scene from Van Halen to early Motley Crue to the next wave of hair bands, Poison, etc. The more these cats looke like girls the better it was for them to succeed.)

Agree 100 percent.

I'm more inclined to take the words of people who were actually close to P over the speculations and wishes of posters on a fansite.

And I'm old skool too so I remember the "look" back in the day as well. P just took that image to the extreme like he tends to do with many things, but his personal vibe is decidedly masculine.

Prince. Is. Gay.

His sexuality is completely irrelevant to what type of musician he is or whether or not I like him, but Prince is utterly, and completely, and irreversibly a closet case. That's what makes his career so interesting to me: How far down his repressed homosexual feelings can be buried ...

There's not a page on the Prince photo gallery here that wouldn't cause suspicions among people if it were any other musician or actor on earth--we would just know. But because it's Prince, well---you get threads like this.

Prince is gay yall. We voted on it years ago.

that's kinda rude....and isn't the whole point of this website to speculate and offer your opinion of an artist?

in other news, i was just watching oprah about men who became woman and none of the men's circle of friends would have ever guessed the men wanted to be woman. some people suppress their feelings and never act on it...that's just how it goes with some...

with that being said, none of this is really all that serious. like others have said, this is all just speculation and i could care less either way...im just giving my take on it all.

Baby boy, I bet you could teach a whole lotta guys, gay or straight how to carry themselves like a real man. nod I can respect a dude who speaks his mind with no agenda.

I based my observations on the fact that all of the first hand accounts of people close to him say not...plus the few times I was near him and the one time I spoke to him I didn't get that impression.

Either way I doubt I'll be losing any sleep over it. lol People should be able to be who they are and be comfortable in their own skin whatever their preference.

Honest question...I asked one of my friends how comes a straight guy who's had a gay experience is considered gay? But a gay dude who has sex with a female is still not considered straight? Is that a double standard?

That's a good question. I think it's part of the whole "tainted" thing. In other words if you have one drop of african blood somewhere in your bloodline, you're considered "black"; octaroon be damned, if there is even a speck of the "bad" thing, then you become, by extension, the "bad thing".

Having said that, does Tyler Perry have sugah in his shoes? Does he have the sweetfoot?

(why do we even care if someone is gay or not?)

In the bootleg song, "I'll Never Be Another Fool", Prince sings, "I'll never open my legs, again, to a man, who's insecure/I'll never open my legs again, unless, I'm really sure".

Even if this was a demo for a woman, why would he sing that line?

Also, if he's not gay, why did he have all of his male dancers fall, on top of him, in the sex-inspired video "Gett Off"?

eek

Dude, why does it matter?

Talked to death on this topic with my friend - he seems to think he is, the 2 points being rubbing up against/and kissing(?) Andre in early performances and Vanity saying he definitely has dabbled in bum fun.

In later conversations with other people, it seems the Eddie Izzard factor (likes women’s clothes but is straight) is what confuses people.

Gay or not, Prince is a dandy camp effeminate little fairy - which is cool with me.

But what is truly fascinating is that if he totally straight why haven’t any male lovers come out of his closet and said something?.

I sometimes think he goes over the top, I mean I think Nick Rhodes, some of the new Romantics, David Sylvian they knew how to put slap on a bit of make-up on in the day, and still look cool. But when P goes all Lovesexy tour book on us, it just too much - man. And all those awful lollipop pics from Gold, the lampshade outfit from MBGIW vid. etc etc...

Curiously fascinating subject. And I’m glad that the comments like ‘not this shit again’ are in the minority on this thread, P's sexuality and image are of great interest, worthy of debate and not to be dismissed as 'oh no not this again - why can't y'all give it a break, who gives a fuck if he's gay, are you anti-gay?'...etc...etc... nonesense.

When exactly did Vanity say this again {physical proof}? hmmm

Very true, the same reason most transvestites are straight. Gloria Steinam (I think) said a man who wants to be a woman wants to be god.

hmmm this brings up an interesting thought....

When Prince records songs for a female artist to record, does he actually sing the vocals himself? Is there a demo version of "Nasty Girl" in the vault, with Prince's own vocal on it?

that's right,I can't control it
I need 7 inches or more

Ok out of interest if we are quoting lyrics here are some from Uptown-

Uptown

She saw me walking down the streets of your fine city
It kinda turned me on when she looked at me and said, "Come here"
Now I don't usually talk 2 strangers, but she looked so pretty
What can I lose if I, I just give a little ear?
"What's up little girl? I ain't got time 2 play"
Baby didn't say 2 much - she said, "Are U gay?"
Kinda took me by surprise, I didn't know what 2 do
I just looked her in her eyes and I said, "No, are U?"
(Said 2 myself, said)
She's just a crazy, crazy, crazy little mixed up dame
She's just a victim of society and all its games

Now where I come from
We don't let society tell us how it's supposed 2 be
Our clothes, our hair, we don't care
It's all about being there

Everybody's going Uptown - that's where I wanna be
Uptown - set your mind free
Uptown - got my body hot
Get down - I don't wanna stop, no!

For the record I dont think he is gay, not that it is any of my business what he does and who he does it with. I think he has slightly feminine qualities, but I think thats probably a result of his childhood, growing up without a real father figure maybe, I dunno I dont want to start psycho-analysing Prince! I think Prince oozes sex, its fairly obvious that he loves women-and I dont think its a facade, otherwise someone should give that boy an oscar!

You beat me to it just got page 4 about to quote uptown and there u are lol lol lol

in musicology he says something like 'my voice keeps on gettin higher and never had my nose done.....and they thought i was gay!'

apologies Prince if ive misremembered lyrics order etc

Hes a very sexy man, who knows why - its something about his eyes and the way he stares you down from the screen, i personally think eddie izaard the comedian is a very sexy guy and he loves a bit of cross dressing too. Prince is probably sexy because of his musical ability the way funny guys are sexy!

I think the whole stockings bare chest thing was an 80s thing, we all had backcombed hair, different earings in each ear my boyfriend wore loads of bangles (now my hubbie) and most guys wore two earings ala george michael. I think it was one of the most liberating times to have lived in as anything went and sexuality was overt. Much as it has become again today in the 00's Lets face it the 80s kids were the last hanger onners of the late punk era, bands like duran duran primed the youth for that whole new romantic look and thinking about it i had a thing for adam ant too when i was like 12, so im coming to the conclusion that i like guys who dress up??? lol lol

and by the way i always thought george michael was gay he just didnt do it for me lol lol

Prince aint gay and i doubt hes bisexual, listen to all of hi music and what comes thru to me is a loving caring, sensual, sexy MAN who LOVES everything about women!

Also, the old axiom that there is no bad press has a seed of truth to it. Alicia Keys has a new song that could be read as a closeted lesbian lyric, Alicia is a bright person, she knows that those things will stir up some controversy. For some bizarre reason, us Americans are obsessed with homosexuality in each other and in our public figures.

Don't speak too soon.Do some research on Alicia, and her life now.Artists like her and others usually write what they experience and feel.Thats why their music is so compelling, unique andbecomes very popular, because others can relate to it.
