Blimey, every1 needs 2 chill out about it not being fair the UK gets this & that.
It's childish.
& the poster who said she made him rich & talks about welfare... There are plenty in UK who have done the same & I'm sure plenty in Timbuktu but I'm not sure when they last had a free Prince DVD promotion either.
It is what it is. Prince doesn't owe any of us anything. The newspapers in the UK are deciding to make their money through Prince's artistic output right now. Get over it.
& all this "they" talk doesn't help anything.

Nicely put...

'The Observer' has wide distribution abroad. I actually saw something about it's distribution on a business report fairly recently so if u want to get it, have a word with your newsagent who will call the warehouse and get one in for you tomorrow. Do it quick! This shouldn't be much of a problem to get so long as you realise you've got to order it in.

Meanwhile, check out the site's preview page:

Will Prince have made this deal or will it be Warners getting at Prince by giving this away?

The stupidity of some fans... Yeah, it was WB who gave the LRC clip from the SOTT movie to the makers of Corvette for an ad campaign a couple of eyars ago. Oh wait, no, that was Prince whoring out one of his "children". PRINCE owns the SOTT movie. That's why it wasn't on DVD for years, FYI.

Not that this is a secret, you can figure it out by LOOKING AT THE COVER OF THE VHS/DVD. Or by LOOKING AT THE MOVIE.

And if you don't have it, LOOK IT UP:

http://www.imdb.com/title...anycredits -- do you see WB somewhere in that list?

Now let's compare that to http://www.imdb.com/title...anycredits , http://www.imdb.com/title...anycredits , and http://www.imdb.com/title...anycredits

All this stupid anti-WB crap: I dare you to find a single artist who's had more leniency from his record label. Just look at all the crap the fans have had to put up with since the mid-1990s: do you think that wasn't happening before? Of course it was, except back then we didn't know about it because it stopped at his managers and/or his record company.

They stopped the release of The Black Album LESS THAN A WEEK before the release on Prince's request. My god, what evil bastards. They let him out of his contract while he hadn't delivered all of the required albums -- how dare they? They took his opinion into consideration when compiling the latest Greatest Hits -- what inconsiderate assholes. They lost MILLIONS by funding Paisley park records.

Warners haven't done a single thing to spite Prince, even though he has told numerous lies about them. Warners could easily have sued him dozens of times, and could have easily bankrupted him in the process. If they'd pulled all the shit that Prince has pulled on people like Levi Seacer or Margie Cox, then you'd have a point. Except they didn't, and instead it's PRINCE who's exploited artists, who's tied them to harsh contracts, who's screwed people out of money.

And the fans asking for copies from the UK: WTF? Learn about PAL speed-up: this is a R2 DVD so that means it's in PAL which means there's a 2% or so speedup of the movie. And yeah, it is noticable. Sheesh, just buy the Canadian release that was sourced from a HD-master.

For the next two weeks, The Observer will give away classic live DVDs by Prince and Talking Heads, two of the greatest ever concert movies .

Except of course that SOTT isn't a real concert movie. 99% of the video was made in PP, with Prince playbacking to a tape. Only a couple of general audience shots are real.

Whereas the Talking Heads movie is an actual recording of an actual show (well, two shows, actually).

Boni Boyer in the house!!

It's a BRILLIANT remastered version! Audio and video are SUPERB.
And yes...this was Prince's gift.
The ONLY copyright notice is from the company Prince formed to make the movie (Purple Films). No WB or other logos.

Loads of people sticking this on their DVD players right now. I can feel it.
THIS is the way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of SOTT!!!

Thanks, Prince!! We LOVE ya!!!

Just to confirm this is a great DVD. I bought the European DVD a while back and it looked like it was copied from video - awful. This 'free' DVD is pretty much perfect from the 20 minutes I've watched so far. If you're in the UK, go to the shops now!

I got the Observer this morning which I always buy anyway so it was extra pleasing to pick up the DVD with it. I've not watched it yet but I've noticed that 'U Got The Look' is listed as the 1st track on the DVD. Is this an error or have they re-edited the original recording?
