Dreamypop, please listen to my advice, even though you didn't ask for it. I have this feeling you miss certain aspects of the music and the org.

1)You obviously have some spare time to kill, so take a few hours and stroll through the FAQs: read them all.
2)Read some forums, the General Discussion for one, and click some of the threads that seem weird or interesting. Read, don't post.
3)I have been reading for a week now that you listened to a certain album once and have created and filled numerous unrelated threads about how you can't really comment on this album yet. Then just don't!

And more or less focus on the albums I at least know something about. My "Planet Earth" thread has definitely gotten a lot of attention, but I think in these tough times, that's just what the boards needed.

I've gotten a little of that when I made out a whole thread based on certain "connections" I've made with him. It's always fun to pretend I suppose... but I think lately, I've really gotten into his fun/party side (Continental & The Max are a couple of my favorites right now).

I'm not so sure this website is the place to come when you're still exploring the world of Prince for the first time. We're nothing but a bunch of jaded or disinterested 30+ year olds who think we're wise and clever. We like to condescend to and poke fun at new fans thinking we're smarter when in reality we're just jealous that we can't get it up for the new releases like we used to.

So DreamPop, run while you can and don't look back. Hell, Prince himself will dissuade you from enjoying the ride these days. Just stick to the music. When you realize that Planet Earth is uninspired crap and you vaguely remember how the music once thrilled you then you're ready for the org.

But I'm not about to descredit Planet Earth. I'd put that label under 3121, though and I loved it when I first heard it. But that fault lies on my liking Musicology more.
I started that recent thread on "Planet Earth" and I'm not about to turn my back on it. I still think it feels like magic and its the happiest I've heard him in a while.
I admit being away for 2 months did do me some good. I got see Planet Earth w/o having to hear from the naysayers... but now that I'm back, I'm not going away unless I can't physically come back.

Cuz 2b fair, the first apperances I saw of him occurred last year, so that's how I got to know him and what he's like now. And I did like what I saw.
And after coming here, I've learned all about the journey he's taken through life and he really had a charmed life.

Good to hear you are so into his purpleness he is worth every second you spend thinking about him and listening to him - once you let that funk into your soul then it will transform you - I see from your profile you like Lindsay Lohan?!! If you are loving Prince you should maybe research more of his influences - Sly & the Family Sloan for instance - now there is some serious funky music if I evah heard it. There is so much more for you to learn if you think he has had a 'charmed' life. Charmed in his talent indeed but he has had some serious rough times - any skim through his sadder tunes can give a taste of some of the loves and losses he has encountered.

Well, let's just say that Prince is the first truly "great" artist that I've gotten into. I mean, the first who's been around for a long time, who writes and produces all of his work, that kind of artist. I grew up with boybands and since that fad was over, I've had trouble finding another artist to call my own.

Prince is the ultimate for pretty much everything. But the fact all of his songs came from a different part of him within him... that's amazing in itself, so I always like learning more. I do so by coming here (for background info, etc) and listening on my own. And getting feedback sometimes helps cuz I get into some songs that I didn't like at first and makes me appreciate others a lot more.
