Yes, please! Show me an album over 45 minutes, and I'll show you some filler!

Who cares if there's filler. I like Prince's filler more than most other artist's entire catalogue. And I'd rather have the option of being able to hear some filler songs than not having them released at all. If you don't like the whole album, you can simply program your CD/MP3 so that it only plays the songs that you like.
And remember, one man's filler is another man's killer.

Prince has done the '50 odd minutes, 12 songs aimed at the masses' thing twice running now and so I'm hoping for something that goes against that just like 1999, Sign O The Times, Graffiti Bridge, prince, Emancipation, Crystal Ball/The Truth, The Rainbow Children, ONA Live, and NEWS.

Filler should be saved for b-sides or downloads or soundtracks. There's no place for filler on any album.

And no excuse for it, in Prince's case.

God doesn't just tells me how much he "LOVE's" me, God shows me how much he "LOVE's" me. Both telling and showing "LOVE" means to "LOVE". They go hand in hand. You can't have one with out the other. Something is spoken, then followed by an action. That is

On 3121.com there is now a picture of the Sony offices. That simply cannot be a coincidence, I mean why would Prince bother? Personally I think this hints very heavily that he has done or is doing a deal with Sony (and therefore Columbia)!
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

The Arms of Orion...

New Power Generation..
Betcha By Golly ,Wow...

as singles.

'Guitar' is better than 'If I was your girlfriend'? Almost thought you should be banned from this site.

In any case, This may sound ODD, but 3121 is a great Album but could have been much GREATER if 'Love' and 'The Word' were released first

Yes, enough of the 12-song album.

I understand that IT IS THE NATURE OF ALL THINGS TO CHANGE,(but damn! Prince)
no more weak song to debut an album, no more ballads as debut either"

It is time for a 18+ songs CD or a double CD. Only then I can appreciate a good FILLER like 'Guitar' - filler nonetheless

Please God, Help Prince,
because I miss the days of 1999, Sign of the Time, Emancipation, Gold Experience, etc...

I stand corrected.
I was really thinking of "Te Amo Corazon" and "The Greatest Romance."

As far as i know its not allowed anymore at all, Prince was allowed because the rule wasnt on the books, but now it is, the deal is now, there has to be an actual charge, and it has to be a price thats considered a legal cd, basically i think it would have to be stated in the sale, not just added on. The thing with Musicology was that they just handed it to you when you walked in, i wound up with 21 on that tour. So now as i understand when you buy a ticket, they have to ask you "would you like to purchase so and so's new cd at the price of $$". now i can see this working for Prince Fans but not if the album is out already.

I dont miss ´fillers´ but I miss the ´jams´. Both Musicology and 3121 sounded very short. I miss the times where Prince jammed with himself on long grooves, like on ´I wanna be your lover´. And, when it comes to Prince fans, a song that sounds like ´filler´ to some, sound great for others.

I agree. The song "3121" could have been a long, funky track. That whole album felt truncated.

Listen people - I have said this before and I guess I need to reiterate it. Prince has been recording since 1978. He is a genius. We know this. He is at a point in his career which occurs with all talents like this...He has out done himself - some of the things he has done that we quickly cut down would have been considered brilliant if someone else had done it. Sometime ago I let a friend check out an old Prince CD 'Prince'. She said it was okay but too much disco and to much keyboard. Yet that was beyond itself upon it's initial release. Don't cha wish your girlfriend look just like me...doesn't that sound like the melody for glamorous life. I am getting off the subject but Prince has done so much musically that now everything he does seems to fall short. Damn he wrote about nuclear Armageddon WAY BEFORE it was common conversation. He sang about incest before it was even allowed to be discussed on TV. Same holds true for lesbianism (Bambi). Oral sex (Head). And now what can he do. The same has happened with so many other geniuses. Orson Wells comes to mind. In addition, he doesn't have that naive, fear that someone half his age does.
I listened to Cinnamon girl the other day and I like it now. When I first heard it I was like "...Oh God WTF - when you were mind with a few adjustments." But now I am like that is a good cut. In closing, not every cut by Prince is going to be the hit you want but it will be Prince - he still make new music...and be thankful...there are a lot of bands that are still riding off of cuts from 20+ years ago (The TIME).

you know when you lay out the subject of many of Prince's songs, and the fact that they were written about way before it was common subject, really makes me appreciate Prince as an informed person. I am not trying to place Prince in musical comparison with other contemporaries having knowledge and courage to talk about controversial subjects until they have him Time magazine cover. Prince has done that... most notably with HIV in the 80's with SOTT.

But there is also like you said, incest, lesbianism, child abuse (papa),
drug abuse (SOTT). Thanks for pointing this out. biggrin
