You're in a store and hear a Prince song and you can't leave until it's over.
In said store, you get mad if they interrupt it by using the PA system.
Your Prince CD collection takes up the largest space of all your CDs.
You have every issue of Uptown Magazine.

...You get calls at 4am from friends telling you Rasberry Beret is on Vh1 Soul.

...You feel obliged to start a conversation with anyone you see browsing the 'Prince' section in a record store.

...You regularly quote funny lines from Under the Cherry Moon, hoping one day you'll meet someone (outside of the org) who will "get it"

...You take off work on June 7 and really have no reason to other than, you plan to have your own little private 'Purple-a-thon'

...You have more pictures of Prince on your harddrive than you have of yourself (Come on nurse, danceWme, where ya'll at!)

lol Sigh! I'm feeling pretty pathetic now! lol

* you think of listening to Prince's music as giving yourself a "soul make-over".
* you follow Prince's example and try to move forward and not look back so much.

Let me tell ya what I just did.
5 years ago, I was such a big fan of Dream Street. Their music got me through a lot. I've also written numerous pieces fanfiction about the different members of the group. I had a couple of ones I started, but never got to finish them.
So I spent the last 10 minutes copy/pasting them all into one Word document (its ~600 pages long total). And deleted the master documents.

I've officially moved on from that past where their music was everything to me.
Jesse McCartney's still my man, but the other members have pretty much disappeared off the fact of the planet, so there's no need for me to waste time thinking about them anymore.

It feels good to get that off my chest, thanx Prince. cool

* U still head 2 the Prince section at the record store, knowing U own everything ever released...just in case

* U watch all recorded Prince at least 3 times right after U just watched what U recorded...hmm

* U consider attending a 3am aftershow on a work night...

* U buy related artists CD's...Larry Graham's latest excepted.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

* you wonder how Prince solves every day problems (like dealing with clutter... you wonder if he has a certain system for organizing everything or he gets so caught up in his work that he leaves everything wherever it is when he gets a new idea)...

that sort of thing...

Is Prince a pack rat that never throws anything away?

I wonder hmmm

-When you go to the CD store and your friends go to the singles section and you go to the oldie section.

- In said CD store, if some other inferior cds are infront of Princes, you rearrange it so all the Prince cds are in clear view.

- You know more about Prince than your friends mother (and your OWN).

- You impress older people with that biggrin

- The website you go to most is the org.

- You made your emo friend sit through Purple Rain just cause.

- Whenever you turn on the radio, you turn it off if there's no Prince song in 20 mins or so.

- You've gotta be the only teenager within miles who listens to the oldie radio station rather than the 3 newie ones.

when you hear 80's oldies top 40 songs written by prince for other people and you inform anyone who is around.... "Prince wrote that!"

My husband who detest Prince (I think he is jealous) was singing Manic Monday.
I casually asked him if he liked that song, and he replied yes, then before I could open my mouth he said "I know.. Prince wrote that."

I'd give props to the person who came up with the original "PurpleNeck" thread, but I forget who it was.

there were a few posters in one wing of my campus and one of them was on Jehovah's Witnesses... and I was tempted to take a look at it cuz it made me think of Prince.

I always heard the term "Purplehead" but it all means the same

ok,

You have a safe drive that you tell your husband is for college work that must not be lost, but 90% is Prince videos, prince music and Prince and associates pictures.
I have an entire gigadrive SAFE drive because I would not reformat my computer until my prince stuff was safe.

Yeah, I'm still trying to come up with a substitution for the word "fan"...
The best I've come up with is "faithful follower" or "listener" of Prince...

I use "follower" a lot... but it makes it sound like he's music's Messiah... which actually isn't too far from the truth, but I doubt he'd approve of it.

and I can't settle for "Purplehead" or "Purpleneck" or even "fam" (a lot of people here seem to like that, I find it odd)...

So far, I've got nothing concrete that I could use and tell Prince, saying "I'm such a big [] of your work."

"Admirer" would actually work... but what to tell my friends and family that I'm "a big admirer of Prince" ... still doesn't work for me.
