Finally Got Crystal Ball

Today was bittersweet, i went back to the record store where i saw Crystall Ball for $29.99 and TGE for $14.99. TGE was gone, sad but i was able to get the 1-800-New Funk Album for $6 so that kind of made up for it. i didn't want to take the chance that CB would be gone next time. the person who bought TGE might've been coming back for it. TGE is a replacement, so it's not like i haven't heard it. I have a four hour drive to Chicago tomorrow, so i'm looking forward to hearing Crystal Ball in the final "mutation" that it made it to the market in. they also had Emancipation for 11.99 eek it's not one of my faves but three discs for $11.99. doesn't speak well for how this album is perceived.

Also saw Ingrid Chavez's album used. Not much of a collector of "protege" stuff outside of The Time, but is her album worth picking up, it was $8 or something like that.

Wow, that's cool.

I can't wait until I get back home and go by the local FYE... they might have something that wasn't there last time...
It's been more than a month since I last went.
Come & ATWIAD might be gone by now... but who knows? I just might find something like 1999, Parade, SOTT, prince or D&P.

Also, I'm hoping for the newly built Best Buy to open during the summer... they just might have an awesome collection...

:grits teeth: hopefully I'll find one or 2 of the albums on my list of 8 "must-haves" for my collection. And see more than 2 of them available... cuz I can only afford 2 right now.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

i dunno. i'm still holding on to my copy of the ingrid album. it's different from any other paisley park effort. it's a bit more alternative-ish than the usual fare. not to say that it's great or even really good. but it's interesting in places. i see it selling for modestly substantial amounts on eBay and i may sell my copy one day, but not yet...you should buy that $8 copy just to have the option of turning around and selling it for double or triple the price someday, if nothing else.

every once in a while i will throw on the cd and for a while it's kinda cool, then it gets really old and annoying really fast.

thanks for the feedback Anx regarding Ingrid. i think u're right, can't lose for $8. was just reading through the liner notes on CB. i think this is first time we hear from Prince about the origins of various songs. it truly is a smorgasboard of outtakes as opposed to the original vision he had for the album that would've bore the same name. sad to see artistic vision affected by industry politics.

Enjoy Crystal Ball! It's great, and The Truth is brilliant.
