This has been bugging me since my fav. site 4 Prince videos added it to its playlist.

What is up with Prince saying "Boo" and the one guy laughing uncontrollably?
What is the point of that? Is it relvent to the movie at all?

And is that Jerome laughing? If that's Jerome, I'll kill him...
cuz when he falloff

I falloff

almost every time to watch that video.

I'll kill him... whenever I think about that part of the video, I almost always start laughing...

And it's not because Prince says "boo"... I laugh cuz Jerome laughs.

Right now, I'm kinda hopped-up on caffeine... so I'm a little wiry right now. Actually, its the first time I've had soda in a long time. I don't drink soda or have coffee anymore... no wonder I'm all wirey.

I feel like Jerome kinda steals the show in "Purple Rain"... he is pretty lovable now that I think about it.

There's no point to it at all, he just added it to be silly. It's similar to when he added the cough to Raspberry Beret. There were actually people on Mtv at the time that tried slowing it down, playing it backwards, etc just to see if a message was hidden there. lol

That was just randomness? Since when is Prince capable of randomness?
Maybe he coughed while recording the song and he figured that he'd keep it.

So, he added it for comic relief? You've gotta be yanking my chain...
Comic relief and Prince do not go together in the same sentence, I'm sorry.

Haha, Prince, you just blew your image, man. falloff
Sorry, I'm still high on caffeine over here and I ain't thinkin' straight.
It's just so hard for me to picture Prince that way... I'm used to him being serious all the time. He's serious about his art and I respect him for that.
It's just strange seeing him out of his element like that.

And 4 the record, NO, I haven't seen "Under the Cherry Moon" yet. And it'll be quite a while b4 I do (same applies to Parade).

When my curiosity about it peaks, I'll invest in the two (movie & soundtrack) further down the road.

Much further down the road... I've got other priorities and albums higher up on my list that I absolutely must have. 8 albums.

Anyone who's interested in which 8, feel free to PM me. I'll most likely get a response like "don't get [insert album name], get Parade (or another album) instead"... but w/e. My list isn't going to change, but I've got an album nipping at the heels of the list... Parade might very well join it... I dunno. I'll see what happens.

See this is what happens when you haven't yet explored on of his 'eras'. Something new jumps out and bites your ass. lol

1985-1986 was a very loose, relaxed, and silly time for Prince. He'd just come off the biggest hits of his career in 1984 and had a real 'fuck it, let's have fun' attitude then... UTCM is nothing but a big, silly, laughfest... The Maxi-Single of Kiss/Love or Money is full of silly lyrics and humor. Of course, by Fall of '86 UTCM had crashed and burned at the theatre, Wendy & Lisa had left/been seduced to come back/been fired, The Revolution had been disbanded and Prince would never again display QUITE that much joviality in his work.

Hey, the 80's were all about backwards messages and hidden devil worshipping in rock music. lol lol lol

I think the backwards messaging stuff hit it's peak with Prince in the B-Side 'Girl'.

Haha... u gotta keep in mind, though, that I'm still @ college without access 2 a record store... even if I wanted 2, I wouldn't be able to get any more of his music... at least not for another week or so. And I'm trying to downplay his music so he won't distract me from my studies.

I'm looking to get ATWIAD and SOTT (along with 6 other albums)... so I just might be tempted to get Parade cuz there's such a huge gap/difference between the two.
Man, I thought 1999's stuff sounded carefree (only heard 1999/Little Red Corvette/DSMR/Let's Pretend We're Married so far)... if that's the case, I'll love ATWIAD and Parade... cuz there's something appealing about Prince when he's carefree... plus its contagious and it's good to have an album or two to put me in a good mood.

Well, both of those albums set a really good mood, imo. ATWIAD feels like pure dabbling and is rather Beatles-esque, as well.

Parade, otoh, is an extremely eclectic album. He probably hits more moods and colors there than anywhere else in his career, going from Psychedelia (Christopher Tracy's Parade, Life Can Be So Nice), to waltz (Under The Cherry Moon), classical (Venus De Milo), 70's style funk (Anotherloverholenyohead), Joni Mitchell-style folk (Sometimes It Snows In April), and more. It's probably the very height of his experimental artistry.
