Finally picked it up about a week ago.

Had high hopes since SNL Performance was off the hook.

He did a dolphin on me.... the mix of the album version of fury is everything I was afraid of. Sterile, high cheesy synths and a solo not as good as the SNL

Lolita is soft n wet part 2.

TAC is not bad. BL & B is catchy.

But with that said I would rate this a C at best. He needs a producer who is going to tell when enough is enough.

I would have to say I am disapointed not in a Crystal Ball mail order way,but I hate the overall mix. I prefer the live sound on SNL to anything on this album.

Oh well. Stay tuned for fake next release dates and track listings, and a few acoustic or live albums to be teased as well as an outtake compilation CB2 Maybe.....

I must say only Zappa fans rival what Prince fans will put up with because when they do nail it, it is worth all the bullSh*t.....
Music is the best...

Let me preface this by saying that I think TRC rates as one of Prince's best efforts and that I like Musicology enough that I listen to it from time to time without skipping songs.

3121: it's growing on me. It sounded like a hot mess at first, but I was getting a Crystal Ball vibe so I kept listening.

Lolita: fun little pop track. It's nice to see that on a Prince record again.

Te Amo Corazon: cool song, particularly in the context of the album. Shouldn't have been the first single/video but maybe Salma had something to do with that decision. razz Anyway, I was wrong to trash it.

Black Sweat: modern funk. I like it. Reminds me of something he'd give to Vanity 6 back in the day.

Incense and Candles: disbelief

Love: the hook is what seals the deal. I could swear that was Sheila singing with him.... Glamorous Life all over again. music

Satisfied: I agree with the On The Couch comparisons. It's in that style and I for one liked OTC, both for its sound and its humor. This new version never really goes anywhere. Satisfied I was not. (couldn't resist)

Fury: good pop rock song. It was made to showcase the guitar. Prince rarely rips it in the studio (which is why he shocks people in concert). Still, this is one of the highlights of the album.

The Word: One of my favorites.

BL&B: I was admittedly underwhelmed with this live after hearing Fury. After a few listens this song is really great and uplifting if you're open to that. Musically, it sounds like he put extra effort to craft it. As for the ending, thank Sly.

The Dance when this song first hit I knew Prince had done it. Not that this is the best song mind you but I knew this was a real "comeback" effort. Musicology was cool but like somebody said it lacked the magic that made us all Prince fans.

Get on the Boat I never left.

All in all a great effort. Artistically, it's no TRC or Purple Rain but if you want music to entertain you or something to dance to this'll do nicely.

The oldest surviving copy of the New Testament discovered by archaeologists shows the number of the Beast was actually 616, not 666.
So chill.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.
