I will just give my marks out of ten ,although i will say that 3121 is the best Prince song this decade !!

3121 ..... 9/10
Lolita .....4/10
Te Amo .....5/10
Black Sweat .....7/10
Incense & Candles .....3/10
Love .....8/10
Satisfied .....7/10
Fury .....7/10
The Word .....7/10
BL&B .....5/10
Dance .....9/10
Get On the .....6/10

Overall 7/10 ..... 3121 ,Love & The Dance i love ..... especially the title which just sits so well on a cdr with Rebirth of the flesh & Feel u up HOW CAN U NOT LIKE IT!!

Best work since Sign O the Times ..... I dont think so , whoever said that has never heard Lovesexy , Gold Ex, prince ..... to be honest it has no more really good tracks then Grafitti Bridge on Come either BUT i will say it is a vast improvement on Musicology & with the title track it just proves 2 me that theres a bit of the old P still in there!!
Live4Love

Take ur pic from the japanese robes & sandals ,drink champagne froma glass with chocolate handles ..... dont u wanna come 3121!!

Hmm, was Kiss lame when it mentioned Dynasty? Or how about Sign O' The Times (the song) with it's outdated-before-it-was-written reference to STILL sending people to the moon, long after we'd stopped?

I can't rip the tracks off my official CD to MP3, so I can't listen to it on my portable MP3 player.

Gawd - I hate copy protection on CDs I have purchased for my OWN enjoyment!

What copy protection? There was no sign of any on the copy I bought, or if there was I managed to rip it with no problems.

same here...i ripped the entire album to itunes with absolutely no problem. shrug

Horrible horrible horrible -- glad I didnt buy it.
I got sucked in by the newness of it, then, the more I listened to it, the more I realized that it is shallow, sterile, uninventive and reeks of Princely ennui . . . so, opinions, in your rationale, cannot evolve? They have to stay static? Nope, unilke 3121, my thoughts have a dynamic to them . . . .

3121 has the distinction of being the first Prince CD I did not go out to buy . . . right now I am playing Miles Davis's Cellar Door sessions which places Prince's lame funk into a pitiful squalor.

Now now, dont be mad, your hero may come back some day. As long as YOU like 3121, what do you care what I think anyway?

Want true funk? Give Miles Davis's Cellar Door jam, "What I Say" a spin . . . .

Naw homie...The midget is far from my hero...I'm a grown ass man....Your response is tepid at best...You said what you said...Newbies have nothing to do with it...You see, there are some folks on this site that don't like the album, for whatever reason; And that's cool, i respect their opinion because for the most part they are sincere in their opinions...

But the difference between them and you is that they don't talk outside of their necks...I merely pointed out that you publicly contradicted your earlier statements; Are you saying that your mind is so weak that you would allow "newbies" to affect your judgment on something as small as an album????Dude, it's not rocket science...Either you like the album or you don't....Again, just pulling your card...At least someone is giving you atention; 'Cuz that's your angle, right?

You are high on something, brother. This CD has no BALLS! I dont want Prince hobnobbing with fucking Oprha Winfrey and Ellen, or throwing dated references in songs ("put down your cell phone") . . . or not swearing, how lame is that? Be funky, crazy, throw out jams as you see them, mile-long jams that alienates the lame-asses that approve of your geriatric outings . . .that Black Sweat video is beyond lame.

Goddamn Prince, what an embarassment!

aw dude, you must appreciate the brass balls of a man who sings about fucking and has fucked many a young nubile and now claims he won't give in to temptation. He plays it off like he's moral but he's just being a tease. It's audacious and hypocritical and sanctimonious and coy all at the same time.

And I think it's rock 'n' roll.

Can you imagine fine young womens at his concert hearing him sing "You'll never make a cheater out of me?" It's a come on. It's a challenge. He's inviting more groupies.

That's some wicked shit right there.

Yeah it's wicked.

And I must inquire what is his definition of cheatin' ...
because when he says "I'll feed ya wink if it'll please ya, but then I'll say c' ya." me thinks that sounds like a one night stand lol

Alright, after four days of listening, 3121 has really grown on me. I still can't get into Lolita and Get on the Boat is kind of cheesy, but otherwise, I am digging it overall more and more each day. I've listened to it several times straight through, which is really something for any CD nowadays.

This happened to me, and I was a bit embarassed. Not by the music, but because I realized it looked like I was trying to impress someone by blasting Black Sweat, when I was really just enjoying it.

I thought the music sounded cool, actually (something I haven't felt with Prince for a while). I'd blast the song 3121 no problem.

Don't feel embarassed PIMP that shit, the other people around aren't as cool as you anyway cool

But this is a good point this is an album for the masses without selling out.

I love this CD, I don't understand all the negativity. Is it because we have to share him with the rest of the world now?

Well i've listened to those songs I hadn't really developed a opinion on because I hadn't heard em enough yet and here's what I think of those:

I love the piano work on The Dance!

Get on the Boat sounds horny as hell which you'll love if you love horns in Prince's work and I do. It also sounds flat out funky!

Love: I don't really know what to make of it. It sounds like it gets more interesting at certain parts during the end but right now its still not floating my boat.

At this point despite my still not too much liking Love I think I like all the other tracks to move this up from a 6.5 to a 7 at least.

I do think this album has more fire and life in it than some of his still good but more mellow stuff as of late.

I'd give it an equal to musicology (A 7 in my book) at this point.

I still don't think it is as good as TRC though, because despite what you may think of his preaching on that album.....everybody flat out played their ass off on that joint!

Is it ALL good for us old 1's? ... imo, of course it is cuz it keeps on coming

and thus we have everlasting purple life from the 5 foot man

My main concern was he put something out significant after "Musicology buy it

with ur tix" ... HE DID!!

Whether those that xperienced him 4 the 1st time on that tour buy is of no

matter 2 me ... he is in the Clint Eastwood stage of his life (see Unforgiven, etc.)

Similar 2 the way me and my beautiful wife make heart ... we just get it right

when we ...

U all can discuss shades of this, that and the other, but bottom line 2 me is

3121 is ... (on my way 2 c my beautiful wife)

I just can't wait 4 the next 1 from ..."ow wah" or however that is spelled

fonkee

some songs had 2 grow 4 me (Te Amo Corazon, BL&B, The word, Love, ...) but overall it's a great album!
nothing new, echoes from every era of his career in this one but the're all nice additions 2 his oevre!
tracks like love, fury and lolita prove he still can make a focused hitsong biggrin sounds even better when u feel he's doin it because he WANTS 2

better than musicology, close 2 O+> better than some of his 80's stuff
i only like 2 skip inscence & candles, dunno what 2 think of that
he's on a roll, he seems 2 have had more fun again, nice!

DIAMONDGEEZA

I Knew from the moment i heard the title track that i was in for a treat and for the most part the album doesnt disappoint.I wasnt keen on the satisfied track but im sure it will grow on me over time.the only thing missing from the album was a big track like last december, gold, diamonds and pearls etc etc.The mix of funk(bOAT,3121),r'n b and neptune style grooving(BLACK SWEAT)was interesting and while the CD is no Diamonds and pearls its just verging on the classic and is up there with lovesexy and parade in my opinion.8/10.

I totally agree with your taste. TAC in particular is so nondescript it boggles my mind. It's lighter than air and has less flavor than water.

Dayum! Already page 15?

Anyhow. Here's my short review.
First of all, the redecoration of the house is great, f**k Carlos Boozer because he don't know about style, obviously.

This CD is the THERMONUCLEAR BOMB!

It gives me joy more and more every time that I listen to it. Don't judge it based on your first listen- it will grow on you and it will catch you on about the second or third time you listen all the way through. My favorite is Black Sweat though.

Phooey, phooey, phooey. Disappointment abounds. This album will certainly go on my shelf as an album that I needed for the collection, but not actually ever gets played.
I think the whole thing is way too Top 40. There is not one song on the album that could not have been made by anyone else out there. I really had high hopes after Musicology--I thought he was really going to start creating funky studio albums that groove like he does live. What a disappointment. Since when did he go back to creating music that is ruled by electronic keyboards??? I'm glad I only paid 10 bucks for it...
