Looks like Prince's people caught on to YouTube

Most of his videos are no longer available. As recent as yesterday, I was able to bring them up. Fortunately, I was able to save a few of them before they were pulled.

Yeah no kidding... It was like 1 thread had a link and then alllll the threads started popping up "hey has anyone ever seen the computer blue video" or "for those of you who havent seen this video" or "omg Electric Intercourse available on the internet!" or "YouTube videos- 83 rehearsal!!".

Duh they are bootleg videos. Not saying I approve or disapprove of them, but they are what they are. How stupid can you be if you really enjoy them and want others to see them? The same thing happened to another site some people know about for sure.

You know, the funny part is is that some people bitch about the bootleg rules on the forum, but those are the very rules that PROTECT those bootlegs as well.

Well I'm sure it didn't help that members of the NPGMC were telling people to look on Youtube for his SNL performance. eek disbelief Hello?!? That's just foolish.

I checked out a few things on Youtube, but is there a way to "save" clips from there? I usually just go to HQ for all my video watching needs. wink
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I figured there was, but I'm not very tech savy. I know how to save them from HQ, so that's what I do--hopefully HQ videos will be "safe" for awhile...

What's his fucking problem. No one is profiting from the 'you tube' stuff.

I didn't even get a chance to record the videos sad

Yeah, what's his problem? I really don't see the harm in having your fans enjoy this footage. No one is "profiting" from this stuff.YouTube is the coolest site I have seen in awhile, and it certainly offers more than Prince's own official site.Sometimes, artists get on my nerves.

Yes,they are bootlegs, but I still don't see why Prince had to remove them.No one is profiting from this stuff. It's just some rare footage that real fans wanted to see.

Well, I had no idea it was a bootleg. Somebody sent that link to me in email. If I had known, I would never have posted that link or made a thread. Call me stupid, whatever, but really; I had no idea!

Maybe he could do something more constructive about this, like...I dunno

...RELEASE THEM HIMSELF!!!

Then we could BUY them from the club and he could MAKE MONEY and keep the interest up in his FAN BASE and in his official WEBSITE.

Sorry for shouting.

Exactly! I don't know why so many artists don't realize that,if they released the stuff that fans really want, there would be no need for bootlegs in the first place.

Prince is not the only one doing it. I have gone to other sites to purchase DVD's or Video only to come back and later and find out they have been pulled.

In the good old days you just went to a record convention and purchased anything you wanted and nobody really cared.

I think it is just sick that Princes people pulled the videos on YouTube .The quality of the Videos wasn´t very good anyway and I think that if people shared the links with their friends he could have gained a lot of new fans. Or old fans could have renewed their interest in Prince by watching the great "Electric Intercourse" performance.

Maybe they were just afraid that Electric Intercourse would be compared to Te Amo..The Prince of today can't touch that shit!!!

What I wouldn't give to see 10 mins of the raw Prince of yesterday ahead of 2 hours of the new hepa-filtered and meticullously polished today's Prince live in concert... may as well spend that time riding up and down in an elevator!

I just think Prince should release this stuff soon... not to be a debbie downer, but life is too short for this kind of thing, holding back some of your best material... he's supposed to be "free" now, right?

This really annoys me! I'm the one who uploaded "Electric Intercourse" and "Computer Blue," not to make money or profit in any way but just to share it cuz I knew this stuff was the bomb and what does this idiot and his lawyers do? I got my freakin' youtube account permanently disabled cuz of this bonehead (Prince). This is a perfect example of why Prince has been slipping for so long. It ain't like this shit is ever gonna see the light of day. The only time it'll ever get released is long after Prince is dead and some other (much smarter) guys are profiting from it. Look on youtube and you will find bad ass shit from most artist....artist who are smart enough to realize that this helps them....Everyone who saw these clips became more of a fan of Prince because of it. Smart move Prince! And if he ever does decide to release it, all he ever has to do is add a few bonus interviews and all the people that have the bootleg will probably buy the official release as well. The times have changed and Prince has not adapted well imo (in some ways yes but in some ways he's still lagging behind).

I'm probably gonna do a horrible job of explaining this but I know and have read that you should not stop the flow of energy in your life and I feel that by hogging up all this great material (bootleg videos, songs, etc) and stopping the flow of it, Prince is hurting himself. Now because my account is disabled I have to reupload all the other non-Prince stuff I uploaded....like Sananda Maitreya (aka TTD)...Now THERE is an artist that understands the power of the internet!!!!!

I was a big fan of Prince for a long time and then somewhere around the late 90's I really stopped being a fan because he was releasing so much wack music and doing so many idiotic things (both musical and non-musical)....I had become a hardcore fan once again in the last 6-8 months but with this "Te Amo Corazon" b.s. and now this jackass move I'm starting to lose my interest again....If "3121" ends up being a piece of crap (and it wouldn't surprise me) I think once again Prince will be relegated to the back of my playlist. I'll always admire the Prince of old but in many ways I have just had it with this guy! Sorry for the rant but this shit really pissed me off!

Yes I have. This material is over 20 years old! What's the point of stopping the flow of it....Who do you think is looking at it? Only the HARDCORE life-long fans are looking at it. If he's gonna release it then release that shit already. Like I said, all the people that have the bootleg will STILL buy an official release (most likely) if he just adds a few bonus stuff...maybe an interview or something minor like that. This only helps the artist by promoting him. But if you are not gonna release it, then allow the fans to share it cuz the material needs to be heard. I know there are people that are still gonna argue that it's the artists' material and he has the right, blah, blah, blah....Yes he does but I think this is a case of an artist being completely anal! It's kinda like when Metallica sued Napster. These guys are super freakin' rich and they are making a big stink over their music being swapped on Napster....By swapping music on Napster they probably gained a ton of new fans who had never bought their cd's before but maybe heard some free tracks and then went out and got the cd. I know I have downloaded tons of music and when I hear something I really like I go out and buy the cd and a lot of people are like that.

i may relate to what you're saying on an emotional level, but on a rational level, you're just plain wrong. the only person who can tell prince what to do with that stuff is prince.

j.d. salinger is supposed to have piles of unpublished manuscripts in his home. should the feds raid his house so his fans can read what he's been writing over the decades? no. the man put out what he wanted us to read. he has a right to compose stories for his own enjoyment, or for whatever reason he wants. ya know?

I hear what you are saying. On a legal and technical level, you are right! But this is not like a new album being leaked online or anything like that. This is a performance that was witnessed by everyone at the concert and it was recorded. If we are not profiting from sharing it, what's the big deal. Prince and his camp obviously went outta their way to have this stopped. Why does he have to be so anal? Again, you are right. It's his stuff and he has the right...but just cuz you have the right doesn't make it right.

If a cop sees me jaywalking, he has the right to give me a ticket, but why be an asshole about it? Especially when I'm just jaywalking to do something good.
