LoveSign: Which version do you like better?

1800 NewFunk or Crystal Ball?

I am putting it on a CD for a friend and cannot decide which version. Thoughts anyone?

I like the orginal..but if u place the Crystal Ball version next to DMSR it would work better..but my absolute favorite is when he and Nona played it on the Today Show.

I prefer the original 1-800-NEW-FUNK version to any of the various remixes.

Me too minus the violent lyrics 'pop, pop, pop goes the pistol, bang, bang, bang goes the gun'

Wowugotit

I don't like the way the music was mixed on the original 1-800 version. Very shrill sounding drum snares.

I like the flow of the Crystal Ball version.

Definately the original. haven't heard the remixes in years though, can't really remember what they sound like.

Would've been a great follow-up to TMBGITW, shame that never panned out.

9 times out of 10, I pick the original. But on this one, I think the remix is the stronger. The clearer production works a treat, and I think the laid back groove works very well with "in your face" lyrics.

I think both versions are great. So the real question is, what songs would you put it between on your friends various CD? THAT will decide the best version to go with! biggrin

I'm very fond of your own version of this, the one with the cheekily added "D.M.S.R." synth motif.

Very clever of you, sir. It shouldn't work but it does!

ANY Prince song with my boy Shock G puttin' his Digital Underground flare to it is MUCH better! Crystal Ball's version has that smooth sound reminiscent of Tupac and Shock G's 93' hit "I Get Around."

Even tho i can be very slow to see some messages duh I always understood the real meaning of the song Love Sign. The problem I saw with the new funk version was that someone hearing those lyrics, but not the whole song, might take them out of context. machinegun
